There was a rumor a bit back that the new Pokemon games may feature 3DS-exclusive graphical effects, when played on a 3DS. Wondering if this was de-confirmed or not.

Also, doing what I can to spread One Piece awareness. I really hope they bring this game over.

I'm guessing that was just a wild assumption based on the timing of the announcements/releases. I kind of doubt there is any 3DS goodies hidden in there.

    Fair enough.

Question for those who own a DSi XL: is the top part of the console a bit more flimsy compared to the DSi? It bobbles very slightly, which I assume is because of the larger size.

Never touched a regular DSi, but my XL's top half does 'bobble' a bit when you click it into place. I can move it around a little if that's what you mean. Never had any problems with it though.

GAH! I'm a few sentences in and they're calling it green! They have pictures of it being blue and they're telling me it's green. I'm almost scared to continue.

Likelihood of this being a cheap marketing trick for their site?

Yeah, love the "3DS has a battery life of 3.5 hours, while the DS Lite has a battery life of 15 hours!" which doesn't mention at all the settings the DS Lite was at. Yes, the battery life is certainly lower, but from what I've read, they're comparing the 3DS at full brightness + WiFi + 3D effects on to the DS Lite at lowest brightness and WiFi off.

Edit: Only thing worse than the article are the comments. Yikes.

That shouldn't matter in battery life/power draw. 802.11n radios typically use more power than a legacy 802.11 a/b/g radio, but the difference between older individual versions of the latter are fairly insignificant.

I loved the one on the Wii that released stateside. It was an action adventure game mainly featuring the main crew, but there was a fighting mode tucked in it too which had pretty much every major character in the series there (after you encountered them in the main game)

I am REALLY hoping this one gets a stateside release.

You picked a really bad time to stop watching. The show is the best it's ever been, and the current arc has been a massive shitstorm of shit getting real that I've never seen attempted in other SJ anime. This is how you would END a series, not advance it.

Oh my god, they're actually adding more to the Cruise games? They have to be fucking insane. Those games already take an eternity to finish at 100%. Now they're adding in more characters and another arc?! I..... just..... no. No they can't do that. The game will be impossible to finish. No person on Earth will have the time required to finish that game. Oh my god, 4 new characters means even more sea king meals to prepare for stat boosts, which means more fishing and golden ingredient gathering. I can't go back to that icy island for flying penguins. I can't. If they don't tone down the grinding we're looking at a 100+ hour game if you want to get 100%. This is no exaggeration, because it took me over 40 just to finish Cruise 1 enough for me to be satisfied to transfer.

I was under the impression that while running maxed out they use more power, but when idling they have better power management so should use less. I certainly believe its the case with 802.11g radios as power efficiency wasn't a top priority with 802.11b, it was more a case of "get the thing to work at all".

Also, DSi enhanced games support WPA/WPA2 WiFi which is their biggest draw for me. One of the big reasons I couldn't be bothered with WiFi on the DS was having to switch over to WEP and risk being hacked.

It was an annoyance I had to put up with recently when I decided to get Pokemon Platinum to see if I would actually play it enough to warrant getting Black, as I haven't played Pokemon since Yellow. I just hope all future online DS games are DSi enhanced so I do not have to keep WEP enabled. Its a shame they do not use over the air updates on the DSi/3DS to patch DS games to support new features, would be a clever addition which might even be possible as it seems there is still some OS running in the background playing DS games on 3DS as it seems you can press Home and quit to the menu, rather than having to power off. Or maybe that only works for DSi enhanced titles?

A couple, but they're pretty much all crap until the Wii. 4kids had the rights to all of them before Unlimited Adventure so the voices and censorship are awful, but they weren't very good games anyway. Adventure was done after Funimation got the rights though, so the voices are much better, I don't think there's any censorship as you will hear the word "die" and Franky won't shoot out tiny hammers or something, and the game is actually fun for OP fans. As a warning, Adventure is grindy as all hell. Like we're talking a couple hours before each major boss fight of fishing, mining, and gathering. It loves to make you collect items. Cruise 1 and 2 were basically the same, but 2 really toned down the grind and made the game much more pleasant. I really like it. Those two were only released in english over in Europe though. Also they're pretty rare these days, as is Adventure. Releasing Cruise SP would be nice to alleviate that problem in Europe as well as let those in NA actually play it. This new stuff though is making me think there's less and less chance of us getting it because it would require all new translations and Namco-Bandai hates translating games apparently.

That's really doubtful. It doesn't work on the DSi which has WPA support, so I doubt it would work on the 3DS. I think the wireless code is hardcoded to the DS cartridge to only handle WEP encryption.

    And so it begins:
Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove has transformed from a DS title into a 3DS title! After sneezing her soul right out of her body, she'll need to travel to Monster Town, the home of all things that go bump in the night, to get help. Bust out some serious dance moves to scare up the power needed to return to her body. Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove 3D will be available this summer.

While I wasn't personally interested in the game my girlfriend was and I was planning on purchasing it for her whenever it released. Looks like that $30 purchase has turned into a $290 purchase.

Steel Diver is going to be really divisive. Some sites are going to score it well and some are going to slam it, resulting in a 7-8 average.

It's either going to be the 3DS's Excite Truck or Red Steel...my money's on Excite Truck, but we'll see. Impressions say that it's a really slow game due to the touch controls, and you can take it as slow as you want, but the goal is to finish missions as fast as possible. Seems a bit at odds with itself.

Also by the way, I have asked around and apparently 3DS games do not save to the SD card, they save to the game card itself just like on DS, regardless of what I saw/heard earlier. A couple people had reported that, but apparently they were wrong. Heck, it's all Japanese, perhaps they saw the StreetPass data and assumed it was the game save. So apologies. Nobody knows where DLC would be saved yet either, probably on the SD card/internal.

Another method that works for some people is parallel viewing, similar to looking at a Magic Eye picture. It means that the two images have to be on opposite sides, which is most easily accomplished by posting two cross eye images side by side and looking at the two in the middle:
