I just watched Princess Mononoke last night with the wife. First time I'd seen the dub. I must say, it was outstanding work. So much better than that "blah blah ning nong" Japanese crap where the subtitles are all fucked up. Plus I really feel they got the literal translations right in the dubbed version.

It can get extremely dark, very complex issues like Angst, death of loved ones, fitting in with your peers etc. You have your biased, silly opinions. Adventure was pretty dull. but when they got to Zero two and there were human villains with complex backgrounds. That's what made it interesting. Have mostly 3 characters I liked the best: Iori Hida (Cody in the dub grr): Iori was a very complex character. he was the yougest one, he was smaller and not as proactive as the others, but he was highly intelligent, physically and metally strong, He was unique. he had very mixed emotions, he believed lying was an irredeemable evil act, his hatred for evil second only to Takashi Takeru. his father, Hiroki, died early in his childhood, and his father is directly linked to Yukio Oikawa-san, the antagonist of 02. Ichijouji Ken: Ken was such a tragic character. I just loved Ken. He was so different from any character in a regular kids animated cartoon, either from America or Japan. He has angst, and lots of it. I could appreciate a character like this, and the internal struggle that was actually being portrayed within him, and within the group as a whole. I got lured in by Wormmon's death and because of it I was able to appreciate what is actually a pretty nifty little show, which makes me laugh and actually has character development, ongoing plots and interesting group dynamics. Digimon Kaizer:(Ken's alternate personality): a human villain, and a child at that, who managed to convey an aura of real evil despite his awful hair. Wow. There are some douchebag 9th graders (I'm 11th grade) who like to throw crap at my car when I drive my friends home. Snowballs mostly, nothing that actually damages it, and try to talk shit. Now, they only do this when I'm driving my car; they're quiet while we're at school.
Today I come from the gym and a bunch of them are yelling at my friends who are waiting at my car. Some of my friends yell back, and eventually they leave. I get in the car, and there are six people total: me, shotgun, three in the back, and one in the very back (trunk, it's a big car, he's not locked up or anything). Now, I only have my junior license, so I'm not actually allowed to have this many people, especially since one's in the trunk.
In any case, I turn out of the school, and some of them throw sticks. This is the first time they threw sticks, it just used to be snowballs. Whatever, the sticks hit, and I keep driving.
Just after I drop off the kid who was in the trunk, a cop car pulls up in front of my car. Now, I'm getting worried because I'm "riding dertay," as it were. He backs up and talks to me from the car. Apparently, someone called the police from that street about a lot of loud noises or something, and he asks me if anything's been happing. Basically, we tell him about the kids who threw crap at my car, who come walking up, who get talked to by the cops. I don't want to press anything because they didn't actually damage my car, plus these kids are getting the piss scared out of them being talked to by the cops. I give the guy my license (he just asked me my birthday, and I'm over 17 so he didn't seem to care that I had too many people), phone number, and I'm good to go.
What makes this whole thing better is that the call was completely unrelated. It was about something else entirely.
