A few years back, I came up with a cartoon concept called codename:zack. It was kinda cliche, since it starred a boy robot fighting crime. I still write some stories of the characters sometimes as a hobby, but haven't drawn anything of it in a while.

I would say that all your people look like flat paper dolls. Its kind of funny, you have a bucket in the sand that is a pretty well done cylindric shape, but you aren't applying that knowledge anywhere else. You might want to start with objects and still lives, applying basic geometric shapes and seeing how they are effected by lighting. You're characters are going to be build from these shapes, and once you can understand how to manipulate them in space, you'll be more equipped to pose and shade your characters.
I don't have a scanner atm, and no mouse for my computer. Just this dumb touchpad.. so, I don't know.. one day.. Here's a link to an old comic I made back in 2004. It's unfinished though, and the art is pretty shitty. (Warning! Pop-Ups!)

Right now i'm more focused on a text-based story, which introduces all of the characters and sets up the story. If you're interested, you can find it in my FictionPress account.
Well, I guess deep down i'd like it to be an animated series one day, but really, that's just pie-in-the-sky talk. I don't exactly have connections in the industry and financial difficulties keep me from being able to go to college. (I got some student loan debt from a previous college that I used to attend..)
Right now i'm just focused on writing the stories for the characters. I have an origin story in mind, that sets up the characters and the world they inhabit, but it's so long, and encompasses so many locations, that it seems like too daunting a task to make a comic of (And my art skills aren't good enough to properly translate the way I envision it in my head onto paper..) When I finish it, I hope to self-publish it and sell it on a site like CafePress or something..
Thanks for the criticisms. Yikes. I didn't realize they looked so flat. I'll need to rectify that. I'll keep your advice in mind next time I'm drawing the characters.
I am focused on the story atm, But now and then I draw pictures of the characters too. (I've also made some pretty crappy MS Paint movies years back) So I guess I like to do a little bit of everything with the concept..
