Egh, my bad. I thought there was at least one Defiant guild in the OP but I guess I was mistaken.

I am Grand Master Guild Leader of a Defiant guild on Wolfsbane called <Indomitable> but as far as I know, I'm the only PA member in it. It's got over a hundred people though and we're almost level four. :D

Got the lucky penny and reduced vendor perks along with a couple guild banners that increases mana regen by 10%, decreases energy costs by 5 and another that increases damage dealt by 5%. They're awesome.

You shouldn't be. It seems the rules are pretty lax; we're just hoping for a self fulfilling prophecy of a more mature player base.

And there are no official Defiant guilds because most of us plan on playing Defiant at release and don't want to ruin the zones ahead of time.

-edit- Since you've used them SkyCaptain, how do you use banners? Do you plunk it down and everyone in the guild gets the benefits, or is it only people around you?

So the page where I view EULA is missing an "agree" button, is there something special I have to do to make it show up? I've tried scrolling to the bottom of the agreement and leaving the page open for a bit to see if its time-locked but no dice.

Are there any good sites with soul calculators or ability lists? I have not kept up to date since I did not get in the last few beta events.

Also, I apparently have some VIP beta keys from a newsletter. Post if you want one.

    Accursed Fates!

Despite wild threat of ice storms and violent weather AND the university we serve being closed for the day, my place of employment remains open. I was *so* close to a nigh unheard of southeastern snow day spent in my manly but comfortable adult pajamas playing Rift with no guilt. *sigh*

    *SIGH*

    * Level requirements have been removed from the previously-level 20 mounts. If you can get to them, and can afford them, you can use them. This includes the Collector's Edition turtle mount.

Man, that's a big bonus to that preorder item, you'll have a mount at level 1 if the rewards are in your bag at spawn. Previously it just saved you some coin (that is easily obtainable by that level) and gave you a unique skin. That would have made the CE worthwhile :(

Guild banners - you buy a guild artifact (token?) from the guild hall in eastern sanctum (not sure where in Meridian). Then you go to your abilities screen (P), the guild perks tab, and drag the banner abilities to your hotbar. Each banner has a certain radius, lasts five minutes when placed, and affects everyone in your group/raid. Each person can only have one banner up at a time, but if several guild members are in group you can place several banners (one each).

Six Mouths members - I suggest having a group going once you reach the Gorge, even if you're soloing, so even if you get ganked once you will quickly gain your revenge. When I get on later I'll be organizing a raiding party into the southern gorge and up to Stonefield. Also - we'll run Darkening Deeps and Foul Cascade (and Fae, of course, for the newer folks) as numbers allow.

    Game question:

Do we have any information on the strengths/weaknesses of the Druid's Satyr pet?

My understanding of the class was that the Druid did the fighting and the pet did the healing. The description of the Satyr pet as wielding a weapon and armor seems incongruous with that however. So am I to assume that once a Druid hits max level in their tree they turn into a melee character with a melee pet for double trouble?

Different pets do different things - primarily tank, dps, or heal/buff, depending on the calling and pet in question - but I think other options are floating around. The Satyr looks like it will be a dps pet, possibly with some combat oriented buffs. The initial druid pet is the one that heals you.

Yeah I am just intrigued by the notion of a badass pet combined with a badass melee character. Sounds pretty great to me, especially since I refuse to play the warrior or rogue archetype.

Warrior and Rangers get pretty badass pets as well, don't forget. And you don't have to follow the typical backstabby/shooty rogue stereotype to do ranger. This build would get you all the ranger pets and buffs with the only ranged attacks being utility skills (-armor, snare), leaving you plenty of points to dedicate to the more "frontlines" rogue souls like Riftstalker and Blade Dancer. Not that there is anything wrong with Druid (I plan to make one), but they don't have a monopoly on meleeish pet souls.

Related: I think druid is probably the weakest pet soul right now, unless the 31 point pet is amazing; from what I understand, even the Greater Fairy is just terrible. I was so impressed with Elementalist/Ranger/Beastmaster pets that I hope they look into it for the druids.

I definitely noticed that the faerie felt extremely weak, even at low levels.

I can understand them not wanting to make it's healing powers too strong to prevent the Druid from being completely unkillable but they should at least consider giving it some other ability beyond its mini-nuke. As things stand it is next to worthless.

I won't be playing a rogue out of preference. I completely dislike non-magical classes; mostly due to their lack of healing abilities (I Love to heal) and the only exception appears to be the Bard which doesn't appeal to me whatsoever (didn't like the OP EQ bard either).

You may want to try some mix of Beastmaster / Reaver then. Both provide at least some healing (Kinship, Spoils of the Hunt and Soul Feast/Devour, Grisly Works, Master of the Abyss), beastmaster provides some very decent pets, and reaver adds some magic flavor. I'm biased, though, reaver is my favorite melee soul thus far.

Not trying to be contrary but I realized I need to clarify my earlier statement:

I refuse to play a warrior or rogue archetype because they are unable to take a *main healing* role with any soul.

By that I mean, the lone/top healer in a group or raid. When they add a class like that for either Archetype I will consider it. Until then I get to choose between Mage/Cleric souls (which I'm not complaining about, there's plenty of amazing souls there).

I just wish they would add some equal-in-power tanking souls to at least the Cleric archetype, since I like to fall back on tanking when I'm not healing.

Basically I like to be the guy that ensures a group's survival and success. Being this person helps ensure that all of my PUGs go smoothely since I can make up for idiot tanks/dps by just playing well enough.

Allowing one character to be a Main Tank and a Main Healer at the same time is a recipe for fail. Which is why they didn't do it.

I'm pretty sure that even if they gave every class an equal power soul for every archetype, we wouldn't have this problem. You can't be tank and main healer at the same time not because your class does not allow you to, but because you don't have the point budget to accomplish it.

Yeah, one of the only issues I currently have is the Justicar needs some work to allow it to properly tank. I think them fiddling with where some of the defensive 'talents' are in the other melee trees may be their way to see if it can be fixed like that. However I think in the end it may take a Wisdom>Strength conversion on buff. That or It's possible I didn't spend enough points.

Deeper in the tree there are talents that convert spell power to block.

T3, Valor, "Your Cavalier increases your block rating by 5(10,15.20,25)% of your Spell Power"
T3, Precept-of-Refuge, "A guarded blow using the Cleric’s shield, dealing 39 to 42 Physical damage, in addition to increasing the Cleric’s Block by 15% for 8 seconds. Requires an equipped shield. Removes 1 Conviction."
T4, Safe Haven, "Your Precept of Refuge increase your block by an additional 1(2,3,4,5)%"

Granted, I got bored with my justicar before I hit those talents (and i was going for more of a dps healer like a warrior priest), but they do have some stuff in there already.

    Right, right.

I took those abilities actually, my block rating was a little less than half of a Warrior/Paladin two levels lower than me. Suppose I might just be unsure if survivability being based on an ability will be a good thing.

Even if you get a decent amount of block rating you still don't get any block value, saw a lot of 0 blocks when playing around on my justicar. Not sure how the block mechanics work though :P.

And then there is the fact that you go oom really quickly, dunno though, not tanked a lot yet. The block=mana regen might be enough to keep you filled up.

Yeah this HERE is my biggest beef with the Justicar at the moment. Block Rating doesn't mean SHIT if you have next to nothing with Block Value, and at the moment the only stat to increase that is strength.

Hopefully they make it viable, Riftstalker apparently worked well... we'll see if that holds up. Y'know, what with them removing Dungeon mobs critting... for some reason, even if a good few classes have things that react off of crits, including a Riftstalker damage absorb.
