So a couple of us (only about 7 people right now) are going to play as Defiant on Faeblight during this beta if anyone else is interested. Message Relm in game.
I took those abilities actually, my block rating was a little less than half of a Warrior/Paladin two levels lower than me. Suppose I might just be unsure if survivability being based on an ability will be a good thing.
Ah, sorry I had thought previously you had mentioned being too low for them. That is a shame, maybe that valor talent needs to be built-in to Cavalier, and then Valor can add on top of that with a wisdom->strength conversion?
Even if you get a decent amount of block rating you still don't get any block value, saw a lot of 0 blocks when playing around on my justicar. Not sure how the block mechanics work though :P.
And then there is the fact that you go oom really quickly, dunno though, not tanked a lot yet. The block=mana regen might be enough to keep you filled up.
Hopefully they work on this, Prot Pallies were one of my favorites in WoW (once they actually made them viable tanks).

I'm in for this! I've got wedding stuff to do first (MMM CAKE TASTINGS) but around 7 or 8 PM EST I'll see about joint y'all.
Yeah this HERE is my biggest beef with the Justicar at the moment. Block Rating doesn't mean SHIT if you have next to nothing with Block Value, and at the moment the only stat to increase that is strength.
Insert a deep tree skill to turn wisdom into block, maybe? I hope you bug your justicar complaint.
Yeah, assuming a largish overhaul in some of the coming notes, seeing huge changes to many things is reassuring. It is a cool idea, just weirdly implemented atm.
Warden plays like some kinda resto shaman/resto druid hybrid. Is fun.
My computer is actually quite close to yours (3 GB of RAM and a 9600GT), but the game would slow down if there was too many people on screen. I'll tinker and see how it preforms in warfronts this weekend.
Love to hear your thoughts on performance in a warfront

Hop out of game to finally preorder Rift CE, get it all sorted and attempt to log back in after adding the key to my account. I am no longer authorized to play the beta. Guess I have to wait for them to reactivate the account now that it has a key attached to it. Boo.

I made a new character of Sunrest (going with a Mage) under the character name Lowellyn if someone can toss me a guild invite if you see me online. I'm going to get some outdoor time for a couple of hours or I'll feel guilty.
I tried the bard this afternoon and am loving them so far. Its nice to do nice dps while healing people at the same time and throwing buffs up if needed.
Respecced to a mainly warden build and slowly making our way trough darkening deeps now though atm, it's pretty darn fun.
Justicar isn't a healer soul. It's a tank soul.
Considering the tank "buff" removes about half your healing capability, and most of the tree is focused around those parts, I'd say it was meant to be either.
Of course, now it is probably better at tanking than healing, but no idea how well it does that.
Argh...I so want to play. Is there a dps 1h + shield option?
Look at some of the caster warriors (void knight, reaver, riftblade). Many of their abilities don't benfit much / at all from weapon damage, allowing them to use a shield without much penalty. Last beta I was doing a Reaver/Paladin (specifically to get the most out of a shield), which was very fun.

Cleric: heal, dps, tank (although the tank soul is kind of iffy at the moment)
Mage: dps, heal, no main tank
Rogue: dps, tank, no main healer (though bard is amazing as a backup healer)
Breaking it down by role, it currently goes something like this:
single target dps: warrior (melee) > mage (ranged) > rogue (melee and ranged) > cleric (melee and ranged)
aoe dps: mage > warrior > cleric (melee, I believe?) > rogue (melee and ranged)
healing: cleric = mage >>> rogue
tanking: warrior > rogue >>> cleric
Rift may be the game that makes me upgrade my 5750 gpu. High settings, no shadows, my framerate is lucky to stay above 30.
You guys are a bunch of whiny babies, I have to run everything at the very lowest and I'm lucky to get 20fps, I'll probably spend a tiny bit to get what you're running at now
Would Riftblade warrios be considered range DPS? I could be down with that, using Paladin as a sub soul for +shield options as DPS. Paladin/Riftblade/x tank option.
Any chance I could get a key? Gave mine from fileplanet to a wow guildie thinking I wouldnt have time to play it, now I'm missing out!
I PMed you one.
Also, they weren't kidding about improving performance on ATI cards. Performance and responsiveness is much better than the test I did a few weeks ago.
Hi peeps, just wanting to show face and say hi on the forum before I go asking for an invite into the guild. Playing on Sunrest and I'm pretty much looking for intelligent players to heal. PvPing with randoms is an exercise in futility.

I still hear that Bard can main heal after level 30
Though as much as I'd like to believe it, I'd probably want to try or see it myself first
I downloaded this and it helped my framerate a little. So, I guess it's just a matter of optimizing the engine for ATI cards. 'cause the patch did bugger all for me.
Edit: Also, the Fairy pet seems less terrible if you turn off autocast on the heal. Still not up to snuff, but less useless anyway.

Helloooo revamped dominator tree...
Respecced to a mainly warden build and slowly making our way trough darkening deeps now though atm, it's pretty darn fun.
I wanted to run Justicar like a War Priest or something, but about halfway through the tree you actually start running out of healing talents.
And then we've already heard plenty of issues with their tanking.
Justicar just needs a lot of work.

My warrior is dps 1h + shield, he's a paladin/riftblade/beastmaster. Lots of shield smacking with this dude.

Wish I had checked my email earlier, i'd be done patching and playing by now. OH WELL.

It has a "healing mode" and "tank mode" buffs, although I would say more of the tree is devoted to tanking talents.
When I tried to come up with a healing Justicar, the closest I came was 20 points into Justicar, and most of the rest into Shaman.

Yep.
I think I can main heal already as a level 28, would like to try it out in some dungeon.
I really enjoy the new "contribution" concept in this game. Its nice to watch that meter soar while I spam heals on everyone.
