Bought the game last month but got addicted to a custom map called storm of imperial sanctum (SOTIS). It's basically like dota where you select and control your favorite hero and annihilate your rival's base for victory.
Man I am really liking the baneling rush I saw Check do the other day for ZvZ. I know it's not going to improve the part of my game that needs the most improving, but it's satisfying to actually be able to suprise someone with something as Zerg. These days that's pretty hard to do.
The basic BO is a 10-pool, 9-gas into an immediate baneling nest. You build 6 lings and harass until they drive you off while rallying more lings to the front of their base. The moment they feel they've beaten you back, you just morph banes and roll back in.
I've used it successfully against 14-pools twice, I can't imagine how nasty it is against 15-hatch...
EDIT: you have the ability to hit with banelings sickeningly early, like around 4:15...
I warned you, bro. I warned you about the cheese. Good games Dhal. Now that I have revenged my cheese loss in the earlier tournament I'll play standard next time we meet. It will hopefully lead to some more entertaining games.

So here's a good example of the new style of protoss I've been trying. Except this time I skip voidrays in favor of quicker upgrades and more warpgates. Game plan is to 1 gate FE into three gates and a robo. Get the expo saturated and grab a fourth gate and double forge for upgrades. Add on more gateways while taking a third. Make sure to get twilight council for 2/2 and charge before 1/1 finishes.
Note the hero immortals after the main battle. I thought I was going to get crushed, but I barely pulled it out. Watching the replay I was even more surprised as we were both 1/1, nearly maxed armies, but he had a 10+ lead in supply. I'm beginning to wonder if colossi/templar are really necessary. (at least before the terran hits 3/3).

The UI for Aiur Chef is waaaaay too big, and the game itself isn't interesting for more than one or two plays. Starjeweled is okay, but I don't like push maps, and if I'm going to be forced to play Bejeweled it had damn well better not lag when I make matches.
Left2Die was too easy and was basically the campaign zombie map, just with 2 people doing their own thing. Ah well. Hopefully these contain good examples of using the star edit thingy.
All three maps are pretty underwhelming. I really have low expectations for the DotA map.
I know these are beta. I just don't care.

held off 2 proxy gates + cannons in my base
not the greatest game as far as like, floating minerals and all that jazz
I just watched that from his POV. At around 19m he A-moves towards the neck at your natural while his cam goes to macro - and only his zealots engage your army. He went from like 20food up to 46food of zealots donated. After that you dominated every fight.
need to work on my mech tvp i float too many resources when i get my expo up
but tank hellion is the bestest
I won the loser's bracket and faced meeks in a bo3 which I won.
Then because he won the winner's bracket I had to face him again in a 2nd bo3 which I went down 2-1 because I 3gate expo'd vs a speedling all-in and wasnt watching my army at a crucial moment.
i'm over the annoyance of the loss but still frustrated at my foolishness

I mean a T and P just have their ramp walled off, so how would you sneak Lings in there?
Correct, getting anything into T or P base after the first rine or stalker is out is fairly difficult early game. It's possible though but it tends to rely too much on luck.
Also on the aus tourney, congrats to meeks. I was so ashamed of my games that I left without realizing there was a loser's bracket. -_-'
I tried a roach rush in a ZvT yesterday-- trying to do at least one game diff. from normal play each night. I get the one jerk who blindly makes marauders. I prevented all scouting.

I was watching Destiny last night. Playing against a high lvl Terran-- they were doing custom games practicing shit.
The T went blue flame helions for harass-- did this for a while. If the Z only sees helions for a while, he suspects some gangster shit coming-- either makes roaches to deal with the helions or suspects banshees and makes some AA.
Then he attacks with marauders + helions. Marauders in front to tank, helions behind to be protected / roast lings. Was pretty powerful. If the dude goes roaches, marauders wreck that shit. If he stays lings, marauders tank them, helions bbq them.
If you get the marauders and helions behind a mineral line to prevent surrounds, it's rly strong.
if this becomes popular and I die to it from one of you then f you
the counter is good roach control. just bait the army around your foward spine crawlers while you build reinforcements and hold off until the spire tech finishes.
not as easy as it sounds yeah. its all about unit retention and being smart about engaging, most things are with zerg.

Was Destiny the guy who raged super hard about Terrans while another guy kept saying "You are smarter than this!" and some weird geek girl kept babbling nonsense language in the background?

yes. Destiny is my favorite streamer. That other guy, Kyle, is a retard.

Good on-creep ling/baneling play along with your queens (which do not take bonus damage from either hellions and marauders) also works against hellion/marauder pushes. Just keep in mind that the push is designed to punish you before your spire goes up, especially if you do the standard thing and go baneling speed before spire. So you need to scout it at his front door and make units appropriately.

Exactly, it's a timing attack that hits you before your spire is up. You can go fast lair but it's a huge gamble unless you scout marauder play early enough (which is difficult). The timing attack also hurts more with stimmed marauders since they eat through spines like yesterday's jam.

You mean overlord sacrifice? Banneling bust?
Most of the time 7-pools are scouted with enough time for the wall to go up.

I am pretty sure you are not going to get a bunch of Zerglings into my base which you will then morph into Banelings. It just doesn't happen. If I would let it happen, I would never win a game against Zerg.

I turned it off. back on now.

but it felt pretty dramatic
faced another master league person. lost
but I keep beating top ranked diamonds... just need to actually win against a master leaguer though before I can even hope to get in.
last game I got harassed so bad by a toss I can't believe I won it. so cluuuutch.
fuck it.

Toss is OP!
Dhalgate all games, every game.
Sneak lings into the enemy base, morph em to banelings, nuke the mineral line in the first 6 mins. Skipping speed is totally worth it.
Got to plat too cause of it
