Fun with Physics (based games)

Howdy, so I dig physics games. I love Red Faction and Angry Birds, and am looking for games with similar gameplay, namely 1) blowing stuff up that reacts in real time 2) knocking stuff over in real time.

Free is good, tech demos are good, I'm writing an article on physics making games better, and I'd like to point to some free examples, and figured I'd take to the smartest bunch of gamers I know, the PAers.

I would have to say Just Cause 2. Lots of explode-y goodness in that game.

    Have you tried Boom Blox?

Does Just Cause 2 feature explosions and destructible enviorments? I liked the look of the game but wasn't sure how extreme the explodeyness got. Is it mercs 2 level?

    OMG Boom Blox (Wii)
Not really explosive (the sequel may have them, don't know), but knocking over towers of stuff is fuck awesome.

I think what you're looking for is Boom Blox on the Wii.

I would say that it has more destructible stuff, rather than environments. Certainly not in the scale of Mercenaries 2. Lots of explosions, however.

Armadillo Run. Best successor to The Incredible Machine out there, imo. That too, if you haven't played it.

You could also look into Portal and Garry's Mod. Not free, but cheap.

GTA IV uses the Euphoria physics engine very well. Messing with people in that game never, ever gets old to me. If you get it on the PC, it comes with a great video editor/creator so you can go nuts.

Just Cause 2 has nothing on Red Faction: Guerrilla

There are a few things you can blow up, but it's absolutely no where near close to the level of RF:G

I wish I had something more positive to say; JC2 is a great game, but it's not what you're looking for if you're looking for fully destructible environments.

The fact no one mentioned Little Big Planet (and it's sequel) is a travesty.

    ?

I can't really think of any other games that haven't been mentioned, really.

I second pretty much everything on the list here, with special mention to Crayon Physics Deluxe.

    This is great, thanks.

Is there some sort of big, awesome, frequently updated free games database that is sorted via genre, production value and platform?

    |EDIT| Building Blaster 2, Crush the Castle 2, and Demolition City 2 are good ones that deal specifically with blowing things up and knocking them over. All are available on the above site.

Dang, whats that one indie game where you are the rabbit and you fight other rabbits and wolves? There is a great demo video where the creators show off their blending of the animations to appear more physically real.

So if your "stuff" includes enemies, then this would apply.

Also, crysis if you can get it running, Bad Company 2... I like this well and was just thinking about it...Black for PS2 had at least one level with this.
