re: fiddlesticks
I typically build him pure AP. In my games that I played when I first started using Fiddle, I was often able to farm/kill enough to stack dumb shit like Deathcaps and a Void Staff. Rylai's helps a lot. Etc.
Leblanc is still a well-above average CC engine, even if you don't get fed early.
With Rylai's you end up with a LOT of slows to go along with your silences and snares.
would you put her in a duo lane, then?
I don't think that's worth a solo lane's experience + farm
Eh. duo lane hmm. No, probably not.
She makes a good counterpick to certain popular mids... I'd kinda draw the line there.

Eat mans. Throw bats. Anal crow molestation.
It is illadvised to build pure AP only on Fiddles, if only for the simple fact that you will ult in, the enemy team will look at you, and then you will die approximately 1 second later.
Get some health and resistances in there, since you need to be so close.

Keep in mind that I only ever use Fiddle on a smurf account. I can't last hit with him worth a soggy dick, so I'm basically staying away from Fiddlesticks in anything over 20+ until I actually learn how to use him properly.
Or until I grasp one of the most basic elements of a MOBA. (In other words, don't ever pay attention to my advice unless I'm talking about cereal.)
I bought Tryndamere! Time to sully the good reputation of another champion.
I should really pick up Shaco, just because of the pure bullshit that boxes are occasionally capable of inflicting on people.
Once every hundred games or so, I'll wander into a brush with like 6 boxes and take two thousand damage in the blink of an eye...
and somewhere, I know, someone is laughing hysterically...

best shaco moment today was a pantheon runs at me so I hit Q, it stealths me but he uses aegis so it stuns me behind him
he thinks I'm still in the same place and invisible and does heart seeker strike, but when the stun fades I break stealth with a backstab deceive crit that does almost all of his life and then I throw a dagger
Haha, okay, best match of my career so far (only level 12.)
Banditosticks=OP.
17/1/5. Had a streak of 12, trip to finish up.
Did I mention we won in spite of me being the only positive KDR?
Favorite moment: I was laning mid against Vlad, Nasus, Shen, and Swain at one point. Going for the second mid turret.
Vlad and this DPS Nasus pursue me into the Jungle. I charge up Crostorm on the other side of the grass. Woops Double!
When I hit 18, the enemy team was anywhere from 13-16.
My team was 12,11,10,9. Once the enemy team started focusing on me (not that it did them any good,) they caught up.
tl;dr ALL HAIL MIDDLESTICKS
And this is why I picked him up. He's just so neat. Good CC, Great DPS, bit squishy, but has a self heal. Any other wacky awesome dudes like Fiddlesticks around?
Also, Resistances and health items were mentioned for him. Anything in specific shine for him? Otherwise probably just grab a Catalyst or upgrade Rylais in the item build.

Sorc Shoes
Rod of Ages
Abyssal Scepter
Rylai's
Deathcap
Very glass cannon-y

Rylai's/RoA/Hourglass/Abyssal are good choices
Deathcap/Archangel's/Void Staff/WotA are all IMO terrible first choices on Fiddles unless the enemy team has like no CC, you're constantly catching dudes out of position for 1v1 fights, and so on. In team fights if you have those first, you will get blown the fuck up.
Tear
Sorc shoes
Deathcap
Rylais
ROA/Scepter based on situation
I run a lot of spell pen runes so I figure Abyssal is not quite so important, with his passive and shoes.
EDIT: I suppose switching up Rylai's and Deathcap could be feasible, but how badly does that hurt his farming/harassment? Or would it help instead due to increased survivability and a slow?

Yeah, I hear you. Been thinking of maybe switching out the Deathcap for Deathfire Grasp. Thoughts?

The slow on Rylai's + crow bouncing is pretty funny.
DFG is okay. CDR is also a solid choice on him to have as little downtime on Fear as possible. The question is where you get it and how the game is going.
He can work well with a variety of items, but you just need to tailor them to how your game is going, what damage the enemy has, whether or not you're getting bursted down in time, etc.
Quick clarifying question, cause I hear conflicting reports. For the purpose of Rylai's slow, what does Dark Wind count as? Multi target (15%) or single target (30%)?
My zombie survival life simulator They Don't Sleep is out now on Steam if you want to check it out.

The Rylai's snare is fantastic with Drain.
If the spell can affect more than one target it counts as aoe for the purpose of rylais, so spell flux also counts as aoe.

That's what I thought. Wanted to be sure, though.

I love playing Tryndamere and being fed to death. I think, at one point, I had close to 5,000 gold. I was stacked with Merc Treads, two Phantom Dancers, an Infinity Edge, a Last Whisper, and a Bloodthirster. Complete overkill, but it made my phallic appendages drip with sizzling, caustic fluids. Enough heads were flying to block out the sun. I fought in the shade and drank deep the tears of frustration as their butt cheeks, one by one, plopped onto the blood-stained soil of Summoner's Rift.
Kennen: Strong lane presence, easy skillshot, mobility lots of burst AoE and CC, very squishy and suicidal in teamfights, not really a late game champion (although obviously anybody is good if you get superfed early)
Anivia: Lots of AoE damage, slow, stun, huge burst damage, amazing utility with wall, good survivability in lane due to egg passive, they call her CryOP for a reason. One of the best AP carries currently in the game. High skill ceiling however with a slow skillshot Q and wall placement.
Ezreal: Heavily skillshot-based high skill ceiling AD carry, has mobility and great poke but low range means it can be tough to balls to the wall DPS in teamfights depending on team comps. Perhaps the most difficult to play AD carry up there with Corki.
Malzahar: Nigh-unparalleled single target burst, hard counter to Vladimir, AoE damage and silence in teamfights. Fairly high skill ceiling with landing his Q which can be important for killing people with his combo. Very underutilized champion IMO who is finally starting to catch on.

Edit: What Orem said about malz, he doesn't just counter vlad, he counters anything in a 1v1 lane. Ignite/Flash means that post six, if you're sub 70% health, you have to back and heal. I find him incredibly boring in the late game though.

This is a hallmark of playing Kennen badly, not of Kennen's teamfight presence. It's entirely possible to play Kennen safely in teamfights and still be very worthwhile.

I finished an hour-long game as Urgot a bit ago and I had literally like 70 CS.
I was so embarrassed. I had like 20 CS at the end of the laning phase. I was so underfarmed it was ridiculous.

no but seriously I'd take malz or ez, kennen is pretty dull and anivia is too cheesy
