Does that sound like 'Making justification for a severe crackdown' to anyone else?
The harder the rain, honey, the sweeter the sun.
Thanks ronya, you always know how to set the mood.
It's kinda disheartening that I heard about the bombing, but not about the good stuff afterwards.
cripes.
if the muslims and christians can 'get along' like that in egypt of all places, what the hell is wrong with us. /rhetorical

"No no no, you're suppose to set them on fire when the protests START, not before!"
... wow, I'm going to hell.
Why do you think you didn't hear about anything after the bombings?
Oh, I know. that doesn't make it any less frustrating. I mean... Cripes can you see anybody but maybe a select few people like us maybe going and doing that in this country? But that's a tangent for a totally different time and place.

There were some bombings of churches in Egypt recently, and more were expected on the Coptic new-year, which is after the Western Christmas.
Muslim Egyptians turned out in the thousands volunteering themselves as human shields to protect the Christians on their holiday.

Egyptians are fucking awesome. I hope they kick some ass tomorrow.
However, the government denied disrupting communications networks.
A page on Facebook social networking site listed more than 30 mosques and churches where protesters were expected gather.
"Egypt's Muslims and Christians will go out to fight against corruption, unemployment and oppression and absence of freedom," the page with more than 70,000 signatories said.

Part of me feels like when I wake up in the late morning, it'll all have come and gone.

God damn it.
Guardian, aljazeera twitter feeds which will be in English. Just searching Egypt will give you a good range of people talking about it and you can then follow people.
Also they Egyptians them selves have no access to twitter now, so western news media types reporting on the ground are your best bet. or just twit serch for #25jan

What "multinational force" does this article speak of?
The hell is the "multinational force" in this case?
That article vaguely sounded like this deployment was already in the works for these troops, somebody just happened to notice it.

The title of the AP video is: Man Shot in Egypt Protest. So, some of you might not want to look.
It will get worse before it gets better. Unless Mubarak flees before the protests even start, there is going to be more violence.
Utterly no call to kill that chap, utter shit.

Because god knows Israel can't defend itself.
I clicked this video off a bit.ly link from a twitter search and was not in any way prepared for it.

Apparently, Obama is less willing to openly criticize the Egyptian regime than Bush. If he has some sense, that should stop now. No, sense is not the word I'm looking for, decency, yeah that's the right one.
That's silly. They're also considerably less belligerant with both the North Korean and Iranian regimes in public. But they've been getting much better results. Partially because they're not assholes to Russia for the sake of ideology.
You don't publicly shame nation states unless you can get concrete results out of them.
Not to say you ignore atrocities, and there should be strong condemnation of the violence that I think we all think will be happening in the next few hours.
