The State of the Middle East [Talking 'dominos]

Not quite; state security was in the building and spoke with AlJazeera Arabic, but they don't seem to be aware of English upstairs.
Protesters have total control of the bridge right now. For now, the Army vehicles are there, but they don't seem to be getting involved outside of that carrier being abandoned.

There is a point where your threat of violence/penalty gets called, and you have to decide if you really want to carry it out. Judging from some prior images I've seen, I don't think the rank and file police really want this fight.
But their position is bad, so there isn't a lot to see right now.
Earlier, the police seemed to be completely disorganized and (again, gut feeling) just not into it. I don't even see any at this point.
They just set the carrier on fire.
thank you

Spoiler'd for biggish
President is going to be speaking on state TV shortly.
And as far as I could tell, they let all the soldiers exit unharmed.

Thank goodness for that. It's quite a strong gesture.
That's what I saw as well. The soldiers didn't even put up a token resistance.
The 'live' camera is crazy zoomed in and low res because of it. The HQ footage isn't live.
Still better than CNN with their no-audio webcam that's not even mounted. It's all shakycam from a badly positioned hotel window with them.
No I mean its positioned lower. Like how the feed to the burning truck is almost level, not an above image.
If they manage to flip it into the river, that would be insane

They tried but seem to have given up because of the rail, its been burning for half an hour now.
Flames are gonna be too hot at this point for them to stay close enough to tip it, I think. And it's not lined up with the edge of the bridge either, it's head on with it.
Al-Jazeera is showing images from the Suez earlier, where people were shaking the riot police vans and stealing their gear. Oh my god, that van ran into some guy! Dude appears to be okay though, the van kept going and trying to drive in the crowd, fucking assholes. The other van was set on fire.
For some reason my mental image was Bill Clinton making a statement of "Man, did you see that van? Dude, that thing was on fire!"
But instead, we will get a speech that will hopefully call for some serious human rights changes in Egypt (most neutral way of saying you support the idea behind the protests)
Last checked it was with the Egyptian President.
I hope we'll support him for exactly as long as he's useful to us. Which seems to be coming to an end.

That sounds bad for the establishment.
Edit: They just confirmed that it IS the NDP headquarters that's on fire.
edit: Confirmed by Al-Jazeera now to be the party HQ
Thanks thread. Thanks for be so interesting and informative.
