ITT Hobbies and Projects

So, SE, I am looking for a hobby. I'm taking a break from university and starting a job that will leave me free for most weekdays. If left to my own devices I fear I will just wallow and browse forums and crap like that. I want to actually do something semi-productive.

So, what do you guys do for hobbies and projects? Do you paint, or design webpages, or do Warhammer, or soup up your car, or do martial arts, or have a garden, etc etc etc.

If you're feeling especially generous you could recomend something to a young physics likeing guy like myself. If you've made things like your own little radios, or simple electric motors, or railguns I would be especailly interested since thats the sort of thing I would like to do.

edit: Perhaps some detail would be good in this thread.

If you post your hobby, feel free to give some extra info, how you started, how long you've been doing it. If you write, what do write? If you paint, what do you paint? And so on.

Mostly just fiction about impossible coincidences. I have a fairly rythmic style that some people have commented as being a great deal like my normal speech. When I get a few scotches in me, it flows out and covers page after page, most of it fairly coherent. Which is odd when you think about it.

I make coilguns and railguns. I also plan to make an enourmous compulsator or flywheel generator. Whenever Im not actually building something Im thinking up ridiculous ideas for things to build that I will probably never have the $$ for.

not really odd, when i get a few in me i start thinking i'm hemingway and stop criticizing myself so hard and just let loose and it is usually pretty good

At the moment I write short stories and reflective peices. Some people enjoy them, but I don't view them as being terribly good in the abstract.

I play a lot of Magic and used to be actively involved in poker, but I haven't been for a few months now for various reasons.

I started playing magic about two years ago; I have been doing it ever since. Also I probably don't play in the sense that most people are "aware of".

Would you recomend a coil/rail gun for a newbie? I have pretty well zero experience with any kind of electronics stuff, although I have some theoretical knowledge on how circuits work and stuff.
