To get a real photography education, work at a camera store. You won't actually learn anything more about photography, but you can get cool stuff like a Nikon N65, various lenses, a canon powershot, free developing, and all your pictures on cd, all for a very low, low price.

twice a week i play dungeons & dragons. there are two seperate groups, although there's a couple guys who are in both. one is a homebrew campaign setting i created, and with the other group we alternate weekly between my greyhawk campaign and my brother's eberron campaign.

i also enjoy airsoft, although i don't really get to play right now what with the winter and all.

i play city of heroes a lot

i work on small rpg maker projects

and independant comics nobody gets to see because i only do them to practice my skills

    Uh

I dunno, I learned how it all worked and then I winged it. I guess at this point you could say I practiced, since I've been doing it for a little while. I never picked up a book, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. I should. I'm just lazy and poor and man, I just wanna take pictures. XD

    I vote for practice!

They are some of my favorites. I have some new ones from Busch Gardens that I haven't really gotten around to editing yet. I really should.

To be fair, pictures of you/family/friends/whatever enjoying your vacation are worthwhile. Maybe not for the same purposes, but I'm constantly worried that I'm going to go do something amazing and I'm going to spend the whole time not actually enjoying myself.

    But that hasn't happened yet!

Well yeah. I'm planning on taking some family pics along with some nature shots pretty much only for my desktop. I'm going to be biking down a volcano which is going to be pretty hard to fuck up with regard to taking pictures.
I haven't even mentioned all of this photo editing I'm seeing over in AC, that stuff scares the hell out of me.

    I play video games.

Also, I just got a guitar for Christmas, so I want to work on that. But two of the tuning knobs are loose, so when a string vibrates, it rattles.

I'm not sure where to actually start with learning to play.

    Chords.
Get a poster with all the chords on it and practice going from one to another.
EDIT Also learn some cool song of lick to play every once in a while so you can feel all FUCK YEAH I ROCK but then get back to the chords.
