So, uhh... I'm about to play the game. Trying to get the lighting levels right before I go. It says move the slider until you can see the logo.

    What logo?

Do I have cataracts or something?

    I just finished it.
I'm happy Ellie and Isaac both survived. I thought Ellie would have ate it at some point on, and that Isaac would have died at the end. For a mostly depressing game, it was nice to have a nice ending.

But know what I'm disappointed in?
In the E3 video the guy was like "oh sure now you have necromorphs and these other guys to worry about." I thought that meant we'd be killing security officers too, but in the end all you do is run and hide for three minutes, and then they all get killed when you turn off the power and let the necromorphs in.

are you playing on PS3? It's quite common for the PS3 to crush your black levels, you need to mess with your color settings, i remember i had the same problem with Killzone 2 on PS3. Normally I'm a 360 guy.

Is anyone who is playing this on PC having trouble with the audio logs? Any audio log I pick up won't play, even when you go back to your menu to play it.
Perhaps similarly, there's a part of the game with ad-stands that you have a giant "Listen" button on them and when you push them, I assume it plays audio and the "listen" switches to "play" as it is doing so. When I click them, I get no audio and the word starts to change but it just ends up as "P listen" and then changes right back to "listen" heh.

Anyone else had any similar issues?

noticed this too. has to do with audio streams in the game. if you're close to any "spoken" source like a repeating ad or emergency notice, then that audio stream is taking that channel and trying to replay a log won't work. so what i'll do is move to an area where that background noise isn't audible, and then replay the log.

the ad-stand issue is something i've not experienced, but it may be related.

whoever said that a fully upgraded Javelin kills black necro's in one shot is a god damn liar.

If you use the Alt-Fire, it obliterates them and anything standing nearby. I've taken out 3 black necros at once with a single Javelin.

alt fires are generally a lot more powerful than the regular attack, so that makes sense

also i think DS2 put Isaac Clarke in the "scientific badasses" club that Gordon Freeman founded. thoughts? i don't think the plasma cutter is as emblematic as the crowbar yet, but it's getting there. i loved the amount of actual engineering that isaac did in DS2.

Yeah I had the opposite problem. I put the the slider all the way to the bottom and I could still see the logo. The game was so fucking dark that I had to put it back to default brightness halfway through the game when I got to a certain point where I was getting raped repeatedly.

Confirm / Deny ? I've seen a guy saying he has the Riot armor, but never played IOS.

Edit: You unlock wallpapers for your Iphone by getting achievements in IOS, thats kinda neat.

Deny. I don't even own a iPhone and I have the Riot Armor in my game. I got it for my second playthrough.

Ok when are we going to get a serious answer to what the iOS unlock is and exactly how to get it after you register?

In the room when issac is talking to dana and says that tidemans soldiers have found him (Chapter 3) there is a large spiral of unitology script on the floor. however in the center of the runes, it changes to english script saying repeatedly "Shut the Fuck up Shut the Fuck up Shut the Fuck up"

Also, did anyone else get spooked by

I got to chapter 3, got no clue which node is supposed to be from IOS, but I heard a guy theorizing that the secret extra was an audio log from Vandal, if thats all its pretty shit. (but its probably not that anyway, noone seems to be sure what the secret IOS unlock is)

I was worried about the multiplayer part, because I thought Visceral would pull a COD Black Ops campaign style, but now I know they clearly put so much love in the single player. Today a lot of people complain if a game don't have MP.

Also, The javelin gun is awesome and has saved my sorry ass countless times.

most of the achievements stack, and there's only one related to difficulty, which, you know, you won't get (Zealot play through) so, in short, no.

You aim, pop a jav into something, nail the alt fire, and let go of the aim button. Kabam. It was like having a rocket launcher.

So I just beat the game. Pretty great.

I'm not sure if my weapon selections were the best - went with the Plasma Cutter, Pulse Rifle, Line Gun and Force Gun. They seemed ok, but maybe others were better?

The game seems much harder than DS1. I beat the original on Impossible and it didn't feel nearly as hard as this did on Survivalist. Some parts took me several (and I do mean several) tries to complete. There were a few areas that felt a bit too 'twitchy' for my tastes, but what-ev.

Either way, it's a really great game. I also gotta say I really like your 'side kick' in this one.

I'm really looking forward to getting the force gun in multiplayer, because fuck it's almost impossible to fend off a Pack at close range if you don't have Stasis. They just stagger your aim and rip you apart. The other thing is... I wonder if strategic dismemberment even matters when shooting human controlled necromorphs? Or should you just aim for center of mass? It seems like they wouldn't have dismemberment in place for the necromorph team because it'd be too easy. I mean, I haven't ever seen any human necros crawling on the ground towards me, just the NPC slashers.

    Also "...nerd."

The difficulty curve for Survivalist feels a little off, to me. It's balls-easy until you get to chapter 10, where it becomes hard, and then you get to 13 and the game decides to facefuck you.

The only part that really really frustrated me was the last fight:
Didn't have a lot of ammo, and kiting infinitely spawning adds isn't really my idea of fun. My guns also weren't set up to fight an infinite swarm. Pulse Rifle is okay for that situation, but I only had 100 rounds left after the mad sprint to the end; Plasma Cutter and Seeker Rifle were really difficult to use due to the goddamn adds jumping in front of Nicole all the goddamn time.
