Kick ass. Thank you, good sir.
I want to turn into a gorilla and stay a gorilla, but I suppose we can't have everything in the world.
Wandering around on foot as a pterosaur never gets old for me. It just looks completely fucking ridiculous. I especially like it when I manipulate objects with my tiny pterodactyl hands.
You're sitting there on the cold floor, Bane, broken and defeated. How does it feel to know that a pterodactyl just used its six fingers to handcuff and restrain you? Kneel down and rest your face on the groin of your new reptile overlord.
Am I missing something or is shapeshifting essentially "you know those weapon powers you had? Yeah, they're now useless, enjoy". Not really seeing how they're supposed to gel with any weapon when they just disable them entirely.
Well, I'm a martial artist. I have various combos. How exactly is transforming into a werewolf, overriding my combos, synergising? Similar problem with bow, say goodbye to charged shots or leaping into the air and blasting your enemies away from you, because the transformation has replaced them. Why even have a weapon?

Poor powers design, that's why.
It doesn't feel very balanced overall, even though I enjoy it as a brawler game.

So whatever the did to the server last night seems to have worked. After they brought them back up, I've had no problems except for some very brief rubber-banding once.
Is there any way to x-fer the Green Lantern corps ticket things you get from the DLC to another toon? I didn't realize that claiming them tied them to one character and that you couldn't mail them or leave them in the shared bank. I'm guessing I'm going to have to submit a ticket, aren't I?
Tried some of the Legends PvP. I can see how that might get addictive.

I wish I could create a Lantern character... Yellow Lantern Corp. all the way!
If you do decide to get the DLC at some point, go to the website and just buy it with your CC, don't use the Marketplace.
Marketplace requires "station cash", and the GL DLC is 1100 SC. You have to spend $15 to get enough SC as they sell it in bundles. However, if you go to the website, it's a straight up $9.99.
Sure, you can get a few other things with your left over SC ... but if all you really want is the DLC, the website's the way to go to save $5.

I somehow started with 500 station points, so it was all good to me.
...and when you are done with that; take a folding
chair to Creation and then suplex the Void.
I got the log in queue, I let it count down and I got into the character select screen. I selected the good Baron and went to the loading screen, then... nothing. I waiting for like, 20 minutes, until I got too annoyed.

I got the login queue AFTER the character select screen, and I loaded right in

Is the only way to trade items via mail? For that matter, where the heck is the friend list? I can add people to it, but it doesn't seem to do much. Don't tell me they put the friend list behind the freemium wall?
I can't log in no matter what. I always get stuck on the splash loading screen. As a last ditch effort I even deleted my young character and recreated him, no luck. Can everyone else get in?

I get that occasionally. I just keep killing the process and retrying until it works. Similarly, the launcher will sometimes lock up and more often than not the login server will fail to respond and I'll need to put in my password 3-4 times before it works.
Getting into the game tends to be a 10 minute Herculean effort.
Generally, if you're on the loading screen and can hear the ambient noise kick in, but you don't get into the game within 5-10s you'll never get there, just kill it and retry.
They work better with certain weapon sets, i've heard.
One thing I hate about this game is that there's all these alleged really good power/weapon combos but you get absolutely no indication of this synergy and might make someone at the start whose powers and weapons wind up being completely at odds.
Is there a decent place to look up these good power/weapon combinations? I managed to salvage my guy by respeccing him from Shapeshifting to Plant, but it'd be nice to know that, 20 hours into the game, I won't hit the same problem (would also be nice to know what weapon sets work together, given that you get a second one to pick from later).

Mind you, by work better, in that case, I mean that some boss fights/mob groups could benefit from being able to get in their face and start hitting them real fast.
Overall, I prefer to stay at range when possible. Some of the end-game bosses (Mostly ones outside raids. Kahn'daq for instance is a bitch if you can't maneuver around the "bullet spam" at the final boss properly, and both sides of the range/melee spectrum suffer at different stages.) in the alerts, however, are very anti melee in that they require you to pay more attention then the ranged might.
The Oan Sciencecells final boss comes to mind. It's entirely possible to avoid his doom laser if you can hit him from far enough away. Melee need to actually watch for his charge-up animation/VO, and move out from in front of him, or they'll get obliterated. Ranged do too, in many cases, but the margin for error is a little bit wider.
At the end-game, you can earn skill points fairly easily. The SP you get from leveling is nothing compared to the SP you can earn from completing various challenges/races/collecting styles/beating bosses/finding collections. You get something like 15 to 20 SP, tops, from hitting cap. And at release, the amount of SP you could earn all in all was around 80. And it's only gone up since then.
What that means is that the weapon set you choose now does not necessarily need to be the weapon set you use forever. You can easily just use SP earned from unlocking achievements to spec into a second set (Which is what I did when I picked up an awesome set of pistols on my handblaster, that were like 30 DPS over what I had.) instead of fast-tracking down trees to bonus stats that interest you.
I forget if respeccing defaults you to one point in your "first" weapon set. But if so, the only real thing you need to concern yourself with is the stat bonuses in a given tree (Matching them to your role would be a nice min-max perk.), and what feels best to you.
All that being said, the forums have a bunch of guides, last I checked. Though with the way they're ordered (There are still topics from release bitching about the game on the front/second page.), good luck finding them too easily.
Edit: I should say that most of this is from the perspective of trying to min-max. The weapon sets are fairly multi-purpose once you get the combos down well. A handblaster, despite being ranged, can fill the tank role just as well as a melee character could.

I think it's crashed.

Yeah, respeccing keeps that first weapon point. But that's just one point, so while it might be frustrating if you want to switch early on, it's not really that big a deal in the long run.
Well, they did quadruple their population within a day, let alone week. Personally I'm just abusing timezones and playing on US servers in the morning. 8-)
Login servers are back, let's see just how bad the lag ingame is!
EDIT: Lag isn't bad. I've got a question though. I'm in an instance, and for some reason my health won't regen. It regens in every other part of the game. What's the deal? I don't feel very superheroic right now.

Being able to switch from ranged combat, to a rampaging gorilla, for instance, is quite useful in a few instances.
I am so clever.
