Thanks, the blogspot one seems to be what I want. I used to use robothobo, but then he got tired of it, got some volunteers, and now it's basically never updated.
I had heard that Ubisoft had taken down their crazy DRM servers, but I'm looking at Splinter Cell Conviction here and the DON'T BUY THIS warning is still on the Steam page.
Does anyone know if the DRM removal applies to the Steam version as well?

You heard a little off; the DRM still exists, but modified so that it only auths at startup instead of continuously.
I'd love to pick up gal civ 2 and expansions cheaply someday; guess I'l have to start finding a way to keep an eye on Impulse. I really wish Gal Civ were on Steam, tbh. I just prefer having all my downloadable games in one place.
Incidentally, I'm reaching a point of paralysis. I picked up too many games over the Christmas sale, and now every time I boot up Steam I can't decide which to play, and default to some Blood Bowl while I try to decide what more exciting game to play.
Gal Civ is a Stardock-made game, I don't anticipate it being on Steam any time soon. There is an Impulse sale feed that only updates with sale prices. It's worth it just to see what kind of crazy-ass games there are out there.
So I did hold off on Dead Space 2, as was suggested by the fine folks here, and I'm thus far really enjoying Bioshock 2. Atmospheric as hell, I'm enjoying the exploring mixed with gunfights with mere mortals to my unstoppable Big Daddy self. I'm very realistically not expecting some mind blowing twist by the end, but obviously the framework is being laid for something that may or may not be designed to take its place later on.
Also, like Bioshock 1 and Dead Space 1, I have trouble playing it for long stretches at once. I tell myself it's just because it's chilly in the apt, because I need to check on some ebay auctions or set up the PVR to record stuff... but there's a distinct possibility it's because I'm finally finding Spider Splicers again there's only so much crazy people cackling and running into my face to ruin my shit a man can take at once while trying to "wind down" at the end of the day.
But then I begin pondering... y'know, I do have 20 minutes until I can start catching up on the Daily Show...

I enjoyed Bioshock 2. And there is an excellent sequence near the end of the game that gives you a...different perspective. But I won't spoil it.
THQ Store 75% off sale which includes a number of titles using Steamworks and can be registered with Steam. Here's a list of what titles can be registered.
Darksiders $10
Metro 2033 $10
Saint's Row 2 $7.50
Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War II $7.50
Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising $5
Nice! How do you know those can be registered? I believe you. I just don't see it anywhere on the THQ or Steam Metro 2033 page...?
They're on the CD key list in Steam support.
I can confirm they work too. Just bought Metro 2033 and Chaos Rising. Been wanting to get a good deal on those for awhile now.
Okay, steam is really pissing me off. I tried to create a freaking account 5 times now, all giving me a stupid error message and telling me to try again later.

Yeah, I've noticed it has been constantly signing me out of the store front and community pages recently. It doesn't sign me out of my main account entirely (so I'm not being booted out of games or anything), but it's still annoying. I've had a lot of problems with Steam since the OS update.

SONUVABITCH!
I just bought Chaos Rising via Steam today for $20.
Anyway, I also picked up season 3 of Sam and Max. Are there any plans for a 4th one or is Telltale just too busy with other projects right now?
Damnit. Those THQ sales aren't available in my region (New Zealand) apparently, I really wanted to grab Chaos Rising. Hopefully steam has it on sale soon.
You can purchase it stand alone yes, however you cannot play anything else than Chaos on online multiplayer (posibly also space marines, not sure about that)
The single player campaign follows after the original, but they should be able to be played standalone.
Worth noting is that the upcoming expansion, retribution, will not use the horrible games for windows live for multiplayer games, but steamworks, and as such wont be compatible with Chaos Rising.
Might want to hold off for that! There is also a beta for that, though I believe it is preorder only right now (not certain, will probably go open at some point - only a guess, mind you)

Chaos Rising is a lot more fun if you've played DoW 2. You get to port your saved games across even. Plus the coop in those 2 games is faaaaantastic.
re: BioShock 2
I started playing through it too. I'm finding it a bit weird being so used to the 360 controls. It's a shame the pad doesn't work automatically.

For the record: the DoW2:Retribution beta is going out in waves and I think we're on the second wave (people that preordered). Next wave will be anyone that has the games on their Steam account (either game, no preorder needed).
Quick questions about gifts. Is it possible to purchase a game as a gift and send it later rather than instantly? It seems the store only lets me select instant options and was hoping people had a workaround that would save me some time puzzling through the details.

Instead of sending it to a person on your friends list, choose email. Email it to yourself.
You can go into Steam, go to the Games menu option and choose to manage gifts. From there you can re-send gifts that haven't been claimed, you can even choose to send it to a new person. Since it's sitting unclaimed in your email account you can then choose the person you want to send it to later and re-gift it to them then.

Just because I noticed your sig: Is King Arthur worth the money?

The game is definitely worth the money. At $12 the game is a steal with so many hours of playability.
Damn, I missed Darksiders during the Steam holiday sale, and now it tells me I can't buy it from my region
Any chance someone can send me the key (since I only want to activate it on Steam, anyway), and I'll send the money via PayPal?
If yes, send me a PM please.
edit: I don't wanna end up buying King Arthur, just so that itch will go away
I could buy it for you, but the price is currently at £19.99 (€23). Quite a bit more than the £5 it was on sale for.
Incidentally I use Google to convert currencies, and I was trying to find out how to spell the old German currency, before I realised that you've switched to the Euro...

As far as King Arthur is concerned. The game is definitely hit or miss with people. I personally love it and find it to be one of my gaming guilty pleasures. The game play mechanics are definitely rough in spots, and there are a few nasty bugs that may or may not appear in your game. However from a systems/design point of view I can't help but admire the scope of what they were trying to accomplish, and that keeps sucking me in. Overall it is a nice attempt to mix Total War and Warlords, and I am sucker for both series.
I actually bought the game a year or so back and just bought the Saxons DLC this go around. This will be my third attempt on hard and I have yet to beat it. The first time I failed because I didn't have a solid long term plan in place. I failed a second time, but this time due to a game ruining bug on the final quest arc (don't explore the sidhe forests before it directs you and avoid capturing any of the sidhe locations unless its for a quest). My third time through now and I still very much enjoying it (4 month breaks between attempts). Hopefully this time I can finish it.
Alright. That's it. I've tried 15+ times to try and make a fucking account. I'm typing an angry e-mail. I'll do my best to withold vulgar language. No promises.

You may consider it a silly question, but I don't know what you've tried: Have you tried making an account through the website rather than the client?
I'm not sure if you guys saw it or not, but there was an error on Nvidia's site that listed Metro 2033 for $0. I am now downloading a free copy of Metro 2033.

After a tease like that, I may cave on the THQ sale.
I'd never get Metro 2033 for $0, the devs deserve my money.
So much lime needed. I got it as a gift during the thanksgiving sale but then gifted it out to five guys during the christmas sale because it is awesome and they definitely deserve every penny.

Currently playing: GW2 and TSW
All of them are. Company of Heroes works the same way. They can access your stuff from the base game but dont require them to play.

Sorry, I didn't mention that I mean the current THQ sale:

It's $10 there and people have verified that the Darksiders key from there works on Steam
