Zune [How Do I Sync]

So, I have a problem. I've had a ZuneHD for over a year now and apparently I don't know how to sync things. I've put music on it before. Tons of music. I've changed it out, put whole albums, individual songs and even entire artist discographies (except for one song maybe).

But now I'm trying to sync a new album to my Zune, and I can play it in the Zune software (and it shows up) but when I try to sync it to my actual Zune, it does that 'Syncing' thing but it actually doesn't sync. It doesn't do anything.

How do I fix this?

Do you have it set to automatically sync? you should be able to just drag the album onto the Zune to force it to put it on the device.

Edit: I mean drag the album onto the zune icon in the software, it should manually copy it over.

Try shooting a question to ZuneSupport on Twitter.

I made an account just so I could send my Zune questions that way. The maintaining the twitter account seems to be pretty helpful.

Other than that, I get synching issues from time to time. Try changing your music sync options to "manual" and drag that particular album onto your Zune (the little Zune icon in the lower left corner) while it is plugged in.

When you attempt to sync and you look at your device in the Zune software does it show as being linked to your Zune account, or does it show as a guest? If the latter, link it properly through the software and then do the sync again - I had that problem with my wife's Zune the other day, as we'd never properly synched it on the new computer here at home. Until I set the linking properly it would say that it was synching, but nothing was actually happening.

I have it all on manual (it can't do anything unless I tell it to do it specifically). I cleared everything from my Zune before I left on a bit trip (traveling China atm) and readded all the music and podcasts I wanted. Podcasts added fine. But only a 1/6 or so of the music I wanted was added. It said it was connected, and it was syncing and sync complete....but there was so much missing.

Now I have a few of the albums I wanted actually on my computer (rest is on an external HD at home. Which sucks), but I can't get them to add. The software says syncing, my Zune changes to 'syncing' and both say 'Sync Complete' but....its lying (start of war of the machines?).

I'll send something to the ZuneSupport twitter once I figure out how to fit it in 140 words.

On another note, I have a 1000+ songs that my Zune wants to sync but can't because my external HD isn't here. Do you how I can clear all my music sync groups without clicking them one by one?

    Update!

So, I've been having the problem for a few days, so I decided to just delete the software and reinstall (and maybe than it wouldn't be looking for music from my external). As it turns out, uninstalling Zune is a super complicated process, but (in theory) there were no remnants of it on my computer, so when I tried to run the setup, it was all: "Your version of Zune is up-to-date' and than it ends the install.

....so....what do I do now? Format my computer? D: It shouldn't be this hard to delete and reinstall a program. I've run unzoone (which is out of date, anyway) and CCleaner (to remove EVERYTHING that had to do with Zune).

Did you try to tweet that last bit to Zune support? I'm at a loss, but they will try their best to stick with it until it is solved.

I'll do that now. Something I did messed up my proxy (in China) but I just fixed it so I can twitter again.

Zune leaves its database and some other stuff in %appdata%, it's possible some remnants of it are hanging out there.

also, their phone support is pretty awesome; i've used it before when i was having some marketplace issues

The only remnants I have of Zune on my computer (that I can find) are two folders named 'ZuneMusic' and 'ZunePictures' which I use to....y'know, store music and pictures for my Zune. Nothing else. I've cleared temporary files, appdata, ran CCleaner and unZoone and anything else I could find. Zune Support on twitter has been giving me things to try, but I keep running into the same 'Your version of Zune is up-to-date.' problem.

I'm traveling in China right now, so calling into support isn't going to work. :-/

    This is getting pretty frustrating.
