who is this person that keeps recommending frozen heart on casters. no one is building this thing on lux/karma. no one is building rylais over rod of ages either, why would you build rylais when your damage spells are aoes and you can have a catalyst building RoA
I watched Roku build frozen heart on Lux when he was playing her support because the enemy was a lot of AD and he wanted to be able to spam (weaker) spells.
Douchebags are usually the best players at games, sad fact.
Anyways how do you lane against Corki as Ashe? Anytime you go to last hit a creep he phosphorous bombs.
Also watching fed Corki nuke down your tower as Blitz cranking is so depressing, he mowed down the tower, moved into base tower all while my team is chasing the enemy around our jungle, killed the base tower then almost kills the inhib. All I could do was watch him, he almost killed me the first time I grabbed him onto a tower.
Sad robot
I think your auto attack range is longer than Corki's. Good positioning and practice should get you there. Also you have better poke with volley than he does with Phosphorous bomb again due to range. Save your crit between minion waves and smack him with it first.
you can tell your teammates to hold as much as you want, but when they 5 man push mid and your team's AD carry has a warmog's, well let's just say that holding is easier said than done
also corki demolishes ashe in lane, i speak from every stream i've ever watched and every game i've played where i've seen it happen

For the AOE slow?
you already have an 'aoe' slow with tether and it's stronger with more range and hastes allies.
Tristana with zerk greaves is almost always good. Shaco can get by with zerk greaves too because if he gets stunned he is usually dead anyways, or boots of mobility.
Yeah people underestimate how good a little attack speed is on Trist. Early game those extra shots can make all the difference. Yes, even with her Q attack. (plus you can always sell off the zerkers later as you get AS from other items)

Has there been anything said about multiple mastery pages like either way? It just kinda doesn't make sense, especially since there are multiple rune pages.
I finally saw a Karma player last night, was not impressed by her.
Top lane was M.F and Sion (me)
vs their Soraka and Kassadin
We wrecked them, then Soraka and Karma switched.
Karma got wrecked too. Maybe it was a bad matchup for Karma or something. Stun + shield + MF's attacks = victory.
Our mid was horrible too. Karthus was getting wrecked by Corki, well he only died 2-3 times. Eventually Corki got the tower and I told Karth and MF to switch. MF whooped Corki.
Our Karthur barely used his wall too, i was like AHH JUST WALL THEM ALREADY! every time enemies got away
edit: it so fun running into a team fight as Sion with a big shield. Everyone runs. I bought Lumberjack skin too, its sweet looking
So bad, I had to come into the thread just to tell you how bad you were for buying those boots, even.
Terrible.
Awful.
So Chesty Tophat Mclargetits, did she turn out to be any good? What about the crocodile guy?
From a practical standpoint, Caitlynn is inferior to most other ranged carries. She is, at least, decidedly worse than Sivir, Ashe, and Trist, and also worse than Corki, imo. That said, she is a lot of fun to play. Droppin' cupcakes and nettin' mans, and sniping kills is good times. I enjoyed her more than any of the other ranged carries the few games I played her, despite her obvious deficiencies.
Renekton seems solid. Hell, he might even be op now (not in my estimation, yet. Still a bit early). At the very least, he isn't the joke he was when he got released thanks to this last patch.

In the past they said this is on the list of things to do. So yeah we might see it in say 2013.
At least from my game experience, I 've seen lots and lots of Caitlyn's dominate early mid lane. (I'm still sub 30 though) She still doesn't seem to scale all that well into the late game sadly.

this was riot's intention with her character. they said in the spotlight video that if you pick caitlyn you should be aiming to win early game

I kinda feel the opposite, building her AD/AS the later the game gets the more likely she is to just mow down anything in her way. At least that's how I played her when she was free, not to say that she isn't very good early-mid as well.
they're the cheapest boots with a fantastic passive, I get them on lots of characters
it's pretty much between ionian boots, zerkers, and sorc shoes for me now
Jesus. That's terrible.
You are bad and should feel bad for buying zerkers, unless you mean "on Trynd."
They are such a shitty item always. AS has too many good items to waste not getting different boots (Starks, SOTD, Black Cleaver, Madreds, etc, etc).
I buy zerkers, pending the the enemy team comp and my team comp. If i dont really need to worry about CC, and I dont need to move extra fast getting additional attack speed makes sense over the other options. Saying it's bad 'always' is kinda bad advice for me as you should always be building optimally for the matchup you are playing, using all availible tools. Even if they are normally bad.
It's not always a bad idea, but sawing off your own limb with a pocket knife is sometimes the best idea too. I don't recommend it as a matter of course.
If you are god damn awesome at both LOL and your specific champ and you are against a specific team comps with a specific team comp, zerkers can be the right answer. I legitimately get that. I've won / lost due to great players who made a good choice getting those boots.
However, usually, over the course of a thousand games, I see baddies get bursted down by Veigar (30 MR vs. 2K burst? Sounds like a plan!) or chain stunned. Over and over again.
Same with sorc shoes. I don't mind enemies getting them, because mage vs. mage my merc treads negate their sorc shoes AND give me CC reduce.
"Buy merc treads" is good advice 99% of the time, and the best advice >90% of the time.

And yet at the same time, if you're a character who likes attack speed but not CDR, it is basically a toss-up between these and Merc Treads. Against specific team comps Merc Treads will be an obvious waste, and as you get better at the game and can trust your positioning to not get caught in CC Merc Treads also lose value. If you're a carry who can use a steroid to increase your attack speed, the fact that there's a bunch of good AS items doesn't really matter as much, and if you can get some good results just by getting a pair of boots, why not?
If I'm Sivir, and the only CC on the team is something I can pretty easily see coming, you bet your ass I'm going to go buy AS boots.
I'm also not going to buy a Warmog's so there
edit: The fact that bad players don't understand the situations where Merc Treads are valuable doesn't make AS boots not a great choice a lot of the time.

It's not like he posted he only bought zerkers. It is situational. Though I have a hard time seeing any reason ever to buy tabi anymore, except for Jax and even then I'm not sure.
I have been lurking for a while without posting. Read almost the whole previous thread but not caught up on this one.
New champ: Thumbs down
Mp/5 updates: Thumbs up
HP Quint nerf: eh. Use them. Not a big difference
Doran price increase: huge thumbs down
Play Kassadin a lot and mana is always trouble. But I notice I'm able to harass better early game now. Which is great if I'm laning with someone who is timid. Solo Kass is great, but I prefer not to fight with people over mid if they want it.
Closing in on level 30. Started learning tons once I hit around level 24. With all the videos online, what are good programs to use for recording games? Want to learn from my mistakes or the mistakes of others.
Had a game last week. Died early and an Udyr teammate calling me noob all game after that. But really I wished I had it recorded. Was one of my top games playing as Kass. And because of the harassment from Udyr, I wish I could have taken the reporting to another level. Highlights: first dragon steal in my career. Teammate Udyr jungling. Took blue buff right by me twice, I kindly asked for it next time. intentially took both blue buffs not allowing me many times. Was in the middle of 2v1 where he chatted how I didn't deserve the blue buff. Killed 2 but just as he got the blue buff again. Only positive KDA ratio on team. Pushed down a tower. On back, died in 4v1 leaving only 1 still standing. Etc.
Needless to say even with the loss, I was quite proud tight playing and results. Got two friend requests from
opponents. Udyr's harassment to me made him a big silly goose considering all that I saw. In the end, I just wish I had it recorded to look through if I did do things very noob like.
Future updates I would love to see:
- end game stats somehow included in game. Such as money gained. I can tell by the items roughly how much they have made, but when I was new this would have been very helpful info.
- champ level displayed end game. Mostly for surrenders to see who was behind.
- maps. At the very least new themes for same map. Diff minion and neutral monster skins. The christmas one was cool. themes like desert, tropical, volcanic, etc. All these new champs and yet same two maps.
- including masteries in rune page. HELLO!! How many games have you played where you last minute decide to your team needs more AD or AP, change the rune page, then try to blast through adjusting the masteries. Annoy as hell in my opinion.
Playing as the tank/jungle against a lot of auto-attackers its a good way to get survivability and also movement speed 2 pretty early since they are cheap as heck

especially if you're up against an all auto-attack team as jungle malphite yes yes yes
Yes just the full team of auto attackers is pretty rare in the current meta. I have definitely used tabi in the past, but last few patches I've not seen any reason to get them anymore. Cept when I randomed into Jax in an inhouse.

or maybe they don't think this way about any gear?
you should buy items based on what the enemy team is up to
alternately, see what your own team is up to so that you don't accidentally double up on aegises
whoops
That's not a bad thing - both Aegis holders get double the passive effect, and if one of you dies, the effect is still helping during a team fight.
Destiny! : Warlock - Titan - Hunter
yeah, still not really an optimal use of my item slot. I sold it to finish my deathcap and then got a Will of the Ancients for everyone
:^: WotA is not purchased enough, IMO. I should do that more when playing support.
Destiny! : Warlock - Titan - Hunter
Soul Shroud is what I prefer on many supports
