If you play a decent LG you don't need the pubs to get to like wave 17. :P
My Hive Tyrant's setup can basically solo his way up to that wave . The HT in general is so god damn powerful once you break into the mid levels that it's kinda silly.
Yeah I have a level 19 tyrant and man it is so powerful.
I can't ever beat wave 20 on the Colosseum though... My teammates are always just too retarded.
I can't find any solutions with google so I'll ask here. Whenever I start matchmaking for Last Stand, haven't tried it for multiplayer because I don't really play that, it spends a long time not finding anyone then just freezes. Sometimes it will find a team and freeze just before the countdown. If I leave it alone eventually both it and steam crash and I'm back at the desktop.
I've had this problem since release but back then it only happened every once in a while now it happens every time I try to play. I can play campaign and skirmish with no crashes what so ever, just when I try to play Last Stand.
Any help would be great.
Yeah, neither am I, but damnit man everything Relic does is just so sexy . You guys are the only company that puts out games that I day 1 preorder blindly and unquestioningly.
So when are you guys gonna announce Homeworld 3? 8-)
Pretty sure one of the leads guys at Relic thinks Homeworld as a series was hokey and bad and never wants to resurrect it,
Which I guess maybe you were alluding to jokingly.

It was an interview with, I think, the writing lead/director/something like that, from one of your games. Don't remember which. It was a while ago.
And the guy just kept talking about how bad Homeworld and its story were.
Particularly remember him saying the story was bad because it so closely mirrored Moses fleeing Eqypt.

Yeah none of those things are MMO-like, so I don't think he's ever played one.
I think he meant the sort of larger, permanent-world environment as an overarching way to connect online matches. Sorta like how Warhammer Online had their thing with the Keeps and all that. That's MMO-ish.
I hope he doesn't mean like...you leveled up by playing so many games, so now you can customize your commander's loadout.
I'm hoping they don't just chalk it up to the freemium busines model, either. Like, I legit will never play online if I have to worry about some other dude having nemesis force weapons while I start with a laspistol and a dead halibut.

I wouldn't mind a new type of gameplay for DoW 3 - the first gave us base building and larger armies. DoW 2 is in singleplayer a loot driven action RPG, with small skirmish gameplay for multiplayer without base building. Something new again might be good, as ong as they keep the core RTS the same.
I'd be kind of interested to see some crazy coop dungeon-crawl type stuff. Like, procedurally-generated maps so you and your friends can log in and play a different game every time, hoping for random boss spawns and phat lootz.

Considering the size of some halibut, they can be a formidable weapon.
I came pretty close today to buying Retribution. I keep grinding through the DoW2 campaign for funsies, and figured $30 isn't a steep price to pay for 6 races' worth of playthroughs, instead of just all SM all the time.
For singleplayer campaign, Chaos Rising is better. Retribution's campaign is OK, but it's largely the same campaign told with 6 different sets of dudes. Some cooler, some not. In all honesty, you probably won't want to play through it 6 times. It's decent enough, Orkz are awesome, and all the races with their units do get some cool abilities as you level them up.
If you want to get into the multiplayer, you want Retribution. Even if you don't like the competitive stuff, Last Stand is pretty good. Although these days it's also its own separate stand alone game, so if you only wanted that, you could buy it separate.
Personal advice is if you purely want SP, then Chaos Rising is better, and wait for Retribution to drop to budget. Otherwise if you're after multi as well, definitely get Retribution.
Yeah, none of my normal gaming group plays DoW so I'm probably just looking at single player. Next time I get the itch I'll try Chaos Rising

I occasionally get the urge to buy Retribution, but I haven't finished Chaos Rising yet. And also I have terribad internet, and I just know it's going to say 'hey, you have to download 2gb of updates before you can play' and I'll never get to actually play it.
It seems kind of weird that Retribution is $30 and Rising is still $20. Like...retribution seems to have better than 50% more content (in terms of races/art/units, not necessarily story).
They really, really need to keep the rpg mechanics from DoW 2 for the DoW 3 sp. It's what made everything so awesome and while the xpacs were cool: the original campaign was still the best when it came to living out Diablo fantasies in a 40k world.
I dunno...I thought Chaos Rising's campaign had the original's beat.
I have to agree. I love both of the campaigns but I think Chaos Rising was probably more fun. I enjoyed the increased linearity over the huge amount of side missions the original had.
Personally I don't think Retribution's comes close to either, I haven't even finished it yet. There seems so much less wargear than the other games and I don't really like the idea of making troops on the mission.

Scripted missions are fun...but I like loot & leveling. I like killing stuff for more loot. I like collecting loot, comparing loot, optimising loot and playing side missions for more loot whenever I like. If Chaos Rising had bigger droplists and infinite optional (and obviously unscripted/repeated) side missions I'd be happy. A linear scripted well-crafted set of main storyline missions and unscripted optional side missions should not be mutually exclusive.
Chaos Rising was a step away from the unique integration of hack&slash + RTS that makes DoW2 so interesting. I don't want to see DoW 3 move towards being a more generic RTS.
I felt there was quite a large amount of loot in Chaos Rising. And the leveling options with corruption were pretty cool. I was able to try lots of different setups for my squads, something I couldn't really do in Ret. I do think more loot is always a good thing, and I think a balence between the original's amount of side missions which at times was pretty overwhelming and the one or two in Chaos Rising for the next game would be good.
I will say this...if they're going to go with more dungeon-crawler/loot mechanics, I want a better fucking UI to compare stuff.
Something simple...give me 6 tabs up top so that when I click the "Avitus" tab I only see gear that he can use. Give me some radio buttons so that I can filter through and only see gear that has +melee or +ranged, or give me the option to flag it as such.
At some point it suffers from Mass Effect 1 syndrome, where you have so much gear and so many people that can wear it, it becomes too tiring to determine what's good and what's excess.
And in light of that, it looks like Retribution's 50% off, and they've thrown in another couple of achievements for Last Stand that will net you a helmet for the Space Marine.
Depends entirely on what heroes you like and what you want to do. Off the top of my head...
The Captain: His shield is pretty good, adds some nice survivability to melee. The armor is kind of meh though, doesn't offer enough offensive punch to offset the loss in survivability compared to other armors.
The Lord General: His new Shotgun is considered pretty universally mediocre, and personally I'm struggling to find a use for his new accessory. It does make turrets more survivable, but using an accessory slot is a steep price just to make turrets more viable.
The Mekboy: His new accessory is ridiculously good. Deals friendly fire though, but if you're careful with it then it is borderline broken. The new pistol is also pretty nice. Really nice deal if you like the Mekboy.
The Hive Tyrant: I've heard his new items are good, but not particularly great. Haven't tried them much myself.
The Chaos Sorcerer: His new items are great if you want to do some melee. The new staff blows the Cataclysmic Hellblade out of the water, and his new accessory improves his survivability well enough.
Can't say much about the Farseer at all. Haven't seen much talk on her stuff and I haven't tried it.

DOUBLY speaking of Last Stand:
Do many of you play it often? I find that when I play it, I often seem to be matched up with the shittiest shits that ever were shit at something ever. I mean, I don't know the maps, I don't have the spawns down, I'm still new to Last Stand, but I'm still like, I have a brain, you know? I know to help my teammates, work together, etc.

Pub games are pretty much like that in well, any game.
It's like back when we used to play Left 4 Dead coop together, as long as it's with people you know, we were able to hammer through the hardest difficulty.
Playing with pubs though? You're fortunate if you manage to get through on medium. Seriously.
