That clip of the soldiers jumping down a cliff while a helicopter passes over them got me pretty excited.

I couldn't care less about seeing MP footage, because we already have a beta on the way.

Isn't that scene almost identical to the one from the Black Ops launch trailer?

I like my modern war campaigns over the top and stupid :)

I thought they were jumping out the back of a plane, Port Valdez entry style. Looked fucking awesome anyway.

To be honest, the video was more exciting for the technology shown and the last 5 seconds of footage. Yes that earthquake was awesome (forgetting reality, who cares) but the gameplay at that point seemed pretty standard. Excited by how damn purty it looks too.

I mean, it's a Battlefield game. Tickets, Squads, teamwork. Check, Check, Check. Everything past that is icing on the cake, and this game looks to be a major sugar rush.

We dont know for sure it was actually an earthquake or (as several people have surmised) an underground nuclear test. It seems odd for a war game to place so much emphasis on a seemingly natural event, given how much DICE has talked about the event in previews.

Then again, this was more of a tech demo than anything else, so we could be reading more into it than is really there. And as Mvrck stated, we pretty much know the multiplayer will be more of the same battlefield goodness, just in a shiny new wrapper. Things like game modes, jets and other finer details will likely be revealed at E3, where many more people will be paying attention; a perfect time for DICE to put their best foot forward.

Counterpoint: Iran has a lot of earthquakes. More than any nation outside the pacific rim.

Now, for an earthquake to bring down a tower block like that, and split the earth, it would have to be ludicrous magnitude. And it would last for minutes, not seconds.

But the video series is called fault lines.

My take (hope) is that the shockwave is from the explosion inside the building that then brought it down on the helo.

If it's some near future game, it could honestly be an earthquake bomb. We've had those since World War 2. Some kind of advanced bunker buster.

There is apparently a special weapon being developed called the HAARP (High frequency Acttive Aurora Research Project) that supposedly caused earthquakes. Though, that could be all bullshit.

There's a small problem with this theory, guys. There's no explosion to be seen. I think the 'wave' that's seen could result from a swell of earth being pushed up underneath the concrete in a convex fashion.

    That's why I mentioned HAARP.

Though in the gameplay trailer the marines were talking about being 90 miles from a fault liine, well that and a few Arabian areas get earthquakes often. Not that big though.

Let's get the retail out the door, Battlefield is a pretty great game when the netcode isn't shitting the bed

I can only restate my hope that they've spent half as much money on optimizing the engine and netcode as they have on super-duper next gen prettiness that requires a $2,000 computer to enjoy

How is it broken? I love using the M14 with a variety of different classes.

That sucker pops a punch and you can reach out and touch someone from across the map with one shot.

40mm SLUG shotgun! The thing could be the size of a baseball and go flying at people at hundreds of miles an hour. Think 40mm smoke with more of a hunk of lead feeling.

Im pretty sure thats what the 40mm grenade launcher is for, plus it has the added bonus that if you miss it might explode!

The new volumetric smoke should make smoke nades viable.

This applies to gaming in general not just BF3.

The time has come when minimum spec can include DX10 I think.

I hope there's less, so I don't have to grind hours to unlock bullshit to be competitive with some guy who got maximum rank in the first three days.

However, since they're going with the BF2142 unlock system instead of the horribad BC2 one, I think I'll hate that aspect of the game less.

That says 61% have DX10 or above in May 2010. Over 6 months ago.

In fact, that number would be closer to 80% if they upgraded to Win Vista/7.
