I get that, and I hope it gets better for you, man.

I'm sure it will. Once I get a chance to meet a few people, I'll have a social connection that'll help me get out and find more friends. I've been trolling OKCupid the last couple of days for the first time in a year... don't care about dating any of these ladies, just want to meet them and hopefully make a few friends. OKCupid's probably not the best place to go for that, but I don't know where else.

I do have a friend in DC who I hope to visit soon. He's maybe an hour, hour and a half away by public transportation. Not too bad, but I'm not exactly going to be visiting him every weekend, either.
I don't want to paint my life as a sob-story or anything. I just have a job working 12-14 hour overnight shifts right now which leaves little time for much of anything. When I'm not at work, my friends are, so I'm very bored during the day. I'm also a little burnt out. Just kind of a blah month, but in about a month I'll be unemployed again so I can't complain too much.

Ouch. If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing that's putting you on 12 hour overnight shifts? That sounds awful.

I'm the night PA on a TV show. Don't mean to sound like I'm doing something super important, but for privacy sake I can't say much more than that. I can say, though, that I asked for this job. Paying your dues and such. Doesn't make the nights less tiresome.

As for OKC, in a big city you're bound to meet people just looking to hang out. I mean, you may have to go on some "dates" to get there, but at least its something. Is there anyone you work with that seems to be friendly? I feel like work friends are the easiest friends to make.

Yeah, there are two other new college hires in my team. I don't know if we'll all make the transition from work friends to just friends quite yet, though. Right now, it's fine chatting with them while waiting at lunch, or while waiting for installs to finish, but I'm not nearly close enough with them to ask them for random hang outs. As I said, I'm sure it'll all be better in a couple of weeks, but right now I still have to deal with the loneliness of the moment.

There needs to be a deadly sin that's like 'cruelty' or 'sadism'. They could sub out Gluttony, it always struck me as kind of a half-assed sin.

Envy or Wrath seem the most thematically appropriate.

There is a book (the blood maybe?) that looks at the different virtues/vices and how you could use them for something like this. I think Crimson King has it though, gluttony or envy would allow for a character big on causing others pain/emotional turmoil for fun.

Envy is the one that you have to stretch the most to make it work for a character, perhaps if you put it as 'acute awareness of the happiness or others or lack thereof'. Pride could also work if you though about it as arrogance and thinking you're above other people. Lust makes sense if your character gets a boner out of it.

The vice system in nWoD seems cool at first but when you actually play with it it kind of falls apart and you have to stretch it hugely to fit any character concept. Like, I was playing a character a while back who was an antisocial paranoid nerd whose biggest flaw was his cowardice and anxiety. What deadly sin is supposed to fit a guy like that?

    What?

It's a porno scene. The setup is incredibly attractive blonde has been playing her 360 game for 3 days straight (with prop pizza box to add realism!) when attractive brunette finds her and chastises her for not studying for finals.

A cat fight ensues which of course leads to everything you'd expect, except the blonde has supposedly not showered for 3 days straight so...ew?

Devil's advocate; if he has the maturity and intelligence of a child, perhaps he should also have the rights of a child.

But if he was already in a sexual relationship, I would expect that unless the relationship was actively harmful there's no benefit in forcing him to stop, and denying him sexual education for any reason is appalling.

    like greed, and lust?

I mean I get they're different but I don't think they're different enough to justify three different sins when there are so many other sins out there begging to take those slots.

Sloth would be my choice for a coward with anxiety, though wrath could also fit, just depends how the cowardice and anxiety is dealt with by the character. But really, it's not too hard to stretch any virtue/vice to fit pretty much any character. It's up to you and your ST.
