When plugging in my MacBook Pro to my Sony HD TV with a DVI cable male to male cable, I am getting picture but no audio.

In my sound preferences an alternate output option other than the internal speakers is not available.

Please help and good gaming.

That's good. That's a good one.

The newest MacBook Pros carry sound from Mini-DVI to HDMI.

The newer MacBooks have Mini DisplayPort, not Mini-DVI. You are both correct if you meant the DisplayPort.

And some of the older MacBooks with DisplayPorts do not actually send the audio either.
