And sometimes even that is not enough. It took experimentation for people to figure out that bard Cadence is based off ranged weapon and saboteur Charges are based off melee weapon damage. o.O
Hopefully they'll go over tooltips again shortly after release to make it more clear which modifiers are additive, which are multiplicative, which stack, and which overwrite.
Huh, now that you mention it, I did buy a box with planerite that gave me an augment, but it was randomized, which sucks.
They used to be in one random box but I'm pretty sure you can buy specific boxes now instead (or maybe in addition to.)
EDIT: wait I might be thinking of the stones you put in your trinkets so ignore me. If they are random, at least it opens up the possibilities of a semi-functional economy.

but how does the cleric class fair in pvp/dps mechanics?
if it's somethin akin to a "shadow priest" (last time i played wow was burning crusade, forgive me if there are different things now) from wow, i'm not sure i should roll as that.
but if i can have badass healing mechanics + dps mechanics as a healing class, might just roll that way.
[Opinion]
Clerics are broken in PvP right now. Having played both as a cleric and as a rogue trying to kill a cleric (admittedly, rogues seem to be weak in the damage department right now) I've noticed it takes a rather long time to knock down a cleric's 2-3k HP, and mere moments for them to heal it back up again. 1 v 1 their heals easily outpace dps, and mortal strike effects are rather rare. They will be more common at higher levels, however.
DPS wise, even a warden (HoT healing soul) does perfectly well solo. Cabalists/Inquisitors do excellent dps. I never tried having a mixed damage and healing set up like a shadow priest, but with the soul system I imagine it would be relatively easy to accomplish.
Did you play past level 20? This is true in the early levels, Clerics have retarded Mana regen and their fast cast heal, heals most of your HP. Past the lower levels, it stops being true and clerics are easily killed by rogues. I had rogues kill me inside of a single stun on multiple occasions.
Has anybody gotten into the crafting at all? I tried armorsmithing, which was ok. I couldn't figure out where the augments come from, though.
All I did was Runecrafting, I got it a little over 100 by the time the last phase ended. There is a BIG big spot between levels 60-76. Where you are over level 19-20 and you *can't* disenchant any gear and so you can't keep improving your runecrafting.
I just ended up going to the auction house and buying a bunch of level 10-15 green crafted gear and disenchanting it to get the mats I needed to create runes till I hit 76. You get some nice stat runes though around 100.
I will probably stick with that at launch.

Cause I really oughta finish that off. Guess that's what I'll do in the span between the end of beta and the headstart. Need to finish Awakening, then maybe one or two of the DLCs.
Yeah, I need to replay through DA: Origins before DA2 comes out. But it will give me a nice break from Rift if I should need it.

Well truthfully I see a lot more EQ2/Warhammer in it really, mechanics-wise.
But that big fuckawesome event is basically the biggest, and the baddest of the types of invasions that can hit. Heck... I think there's even one BIGGER than that in Freemarch involving the Death Rifts. Nothing makes you want to run for your life faster than the Undead Legions marching endlessly across your once green, friendly and sunny hill country.
Derp: To answer your question, A LOT. They are based upon the population of the zone, basically if you log in and get to the proper first zone after the tutorial/starter area then you'll see one real quick.

Just throw whatever you got at me, I am open to everything and I already tried everything from casual to epic grindfest.

If you haven't done Realm of the Fae yet, you should do that before you switch to Defiant. It's a pretty excellent dungeon.

I logged into the the patcher this morning and there was a 200mb update after it it dl'ed and installed the game loaded.
The thing keeps popping up with RiftPatcher needs updating, but when i update it, it says the downloaded file failed to execute.
