Appearences of Dunsparce in the anime:
Dunsparce was featured in the episode "The Dunsparce Deception", in which it is a very popular Pokémon for a class of schoolchildren, most of whom have managed to catch one. Ash and friends help the last boy, who had a Caterpie, find a Dunsparce of his own. It also briefly appeared in Following a Maiden Voyage!, as Pokémon caught in Ariados's web.
He was caught easily by small children and trapped in an Ariados's web. How impressive.
if they aren't, that wasn't a butterfree at all
likely a team rocket plot to lure away ash's pokemon so they could perform horrible experiments on them only this time nobody got wise

He was the last one. With only a Caterpie. All the other children laughed at his difficulty catching Dunsparce. He swore to them that day that he would always have a Dunsparce on his team no matter how horrible it was.

They should totally evolve Pikachu and Meowth in the show. Then they can both decide "man this sucks" and seek out a way to deevolve, thus introducing a new thing in a new game that does just that.
Digimon could evolve and devolve at will, couldn't they? I never played those games, but I do remember something like that from the anime. Been a long time though.
Maybe a Devolution Stone could be introduced in gen 6, so Pikachu could go back after having been Raichu. And in the games it could give you Pachirisu from Emolga and Luvdisc from Alomomola, so those plotholes would be solved as well.
It would be dangerous for first stage mons though, since they would all be reduced to puddles after coming into contact with the Stone.
I think Emolga and Alomomola work without having to be related to Pachirisu and Luvdisc. It's like when have the same animal existing in two completely different parts of the world, and in time they start changing to adapt towards their climates or whatever.

One could make that case convincingly for Tauros and Bouffalant, because it's actually like that for the animals that inspired them in the real world.
Emolga and Alomomola are evolutions in every sense but evolution method. That's the only part still missing in their cases.

Instead it was like Gloom, or Clefairy
Imagine that
not the hero we want
but the one we deserve
I speak, of course, about dunsparce
literally the saddest part of my younger years
I wonder what Venomoth tears taste like
Delicious, probably
