So, I hate DVDs. Rather, I hate having a huge collection of discs. I watch all my movies on my PC, anyways, and I'd like to rip my collection to the half-terrabyte array I just installed.
cheap disk space.
What I'm looking for is some good ripping software for Windows. In the past, I've used Handbrake for OSX, and I really like it. It's simple, it's (reasonably) fast, and it outputs good quality files without any hassle. My G4 iBook isn't exactly a screaming fast machine, though. And I like to be able to take it with me to class, instead of sitting at home ripping a movie.
Everything I've seen for Windows, by comparison, has been some hideously complicated monstrosity. You have to use program A to decrypt the disk, then program B to rip the damned thing. Program B, buy the way, has more switches and buttons than the god damned space shuttle. Of course, all of this is after I had to install 400 different audio and video codecs.
I'm basically looking to pop in a disk, set a quality setting, set a codec, and let it rip the movie. I basically want Handbrake for Windows (yes, I know there technically is a Handbrake for Windows, but it's pre-alpha, and most of the features that
do work are only accessible via command line). Is there such a thing?

But anyway, check out FairUse Wizard, it's worked pretty well for me.
You need something to rip to .VOB files first. I use DVD Decrypter.
Nothing's forgotten, nothing is ever forgotten
