So are their any plans for a sort of "one last hurrah" in mvc2 before marvel 3 comes out? I feel like the game should get a good lobby going for the last time before mvc3 takes over. It's the respectful thing to do! (even though I'm like the only one in the world that doesnt have it yet )
So thanks to the advice on budget sticks earlier in the thread, I managed to get myself a Hori Fightstick EX2 that's been modded with a Seimitsu stick for 45AUD, and I'm loving it (toying around in SF4 with it). I love the 360 controller, but hot damn it's useless for fighting games.

I was iffy on keeping my HRAP ex with sanwa buttons because button dashing wasn't as reliable as on my TE in mvc2 (not sure why, maybe because of the curved layout of the hori, or simply old age on my part)
No worries though, because i had no such problem with my HRAP in mvc3. The controls in that game are great.

Might have been the button placement. I like the Sega Atstro City layout most of the HRAPs use compared to the japanese/american style hybrid the TEs use. It's a tiny, tiny thing, but I definitely notice it when to a TE from my HRAP, and not when going TE to HRAP.
I love the 360 controller, but hot damn it's useless for fighting games.
My god so true. I've always preferred pad, I was going to get a SF4 fightpad but I hate that game. I might have to finally get one for this game. I'm not sure how I feel about the MvC3 pad, I'd want to try out the analog first.
Anyone know if you can map multiple attack buttons to keypad buttons?
I miss my 1-button dash from Dreamcast MvC2...

Just for an update on RanBats since I know there are a lot of people interested, right now the front running days are Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. If you want to participate in 'Bats please PM me with your weekday availability. If anyone has any questions or comments about RanBats, I'll be happy to field those here in the thread, in PM, or in IRC. If anyone has any opinions on how to improve RanBats, I'd love to hear those too.
They were a great time for all while they lasted for Street Fighter, and I'd like to get a similar thing going for MvC3. And remember, they're open to players of all skill levels. Don't feel being terrible will necessarily prevent you from having a good time! You'll probably learn a thing or two, and you can get some instant feedback from a variety of people on your playstyle.
Edit: Also, team sp00ky stream here. Pretty boring mission mode stuff at the moment, I'll post if it changes to matches.

Ranbats were almost NEVER (I say almost because I could be wrong, but I'm 99% sure on this) cancelled for a reason other than attendance, and I'm just not running one under 8 people. For eight people, you can make two lobbies and have a lot more fun that way. And skill tiers means we'd NEVER have the attendance. Plus I really don't want to make two spreadsheets even if we did have the attendance. You learn by playing better people.
As for IRC, I've said it to various people at different times so I'll say it one more time and then I'm done with it and people can go to whichever (or both) channel they like. I'll spoiler it for those who don't care about the drama.
IRC used to be a lot rowdier and crazier. And to be honest I was more used to moderating ircs and ventrilo's where people are a little more thick skinned and playful than some people on PA were, so some people got mad at me for that. It's kind of hard to tell genuine irritation from joking on the internet, it's the nature of the beast. I will say for my part I've apologized to just about everyone who was legitimately mad or hurt by the occasional kicking or muting or what have you. For my part, I honestly haven't kicked, muted, or banned anyone in quite literally months (feel free to ask any channel regular) because I don't want to deal with it anymore. I also declared happy fun friendship time to be always in effect (seriously) because the name calling was kind of annoying.
Would I rather there be just one channel? Absolutely, it would make everything easier for everyone, and I guarantee that anyone who disliked it in the past will be fine with it now. But if people want to make other channels, and have to join multiple channels, that's fine, and there's not a whole lot I can do about that, and I won't begrudge anyone who decides to be only in the other channel or in both.
So, the tl;dr and the gist people should get from it is the official PA Fighting channel is a great place to shoot the shit and have fun with cool people, and organize some matches in various fighting games. I just hope everyone will try irc.slashent.org #pafighting. It's kinder, friendlier, better, and drama free.

So apparently MvC2 is kind of a bad game to try to learn joystick on (especially when trying to play arcade).

I put on MvC2 and played with Masume and picked up right away.
