Update for NYC peeps looking to get this early. Tomorrow morning is what the usual stores are saying and it's sounding fairly definite. Some others are Saturday guaranteed.

It's a lot harder to find this game since everyone is so hush hush about it. With SSF4, word got out fast and everyone got a copy early easily. Whatevs

Saw Morrigan do air series > Shadow Blade > missile hyper on the stream, guess it is at least usable.

Thinking of playing Hsien-ko/Dormammu/Deadpool, though I'm not gonna be able to pick up the game until around when the DLC drops. Might have to go Shuma/Jill/Dormammu so I'm not completely outclassed right away :P

It takes a stupid long time to get a wiki account approved there because it's handled manually and nobody bothers to take care of that regularly. Literally a dozen people in the MvC3 forum were eager to get to work on it and it was taking forever for any of them to get approved.

Dante is on all my teams. By all, I mean 90% of all teams I will play ever and 100% of all teams I will play more seriously.

Sentinel, Wesker, Storm, Zero, Trish and Spencer also interest me. Various other characters will be considered based on their gameplay merits - Chris, Hsien-Ko, Amaterasu, Dormammu and Deadpool spring to mind.

For now, thinking Dante/Sentinel/Wesker, using Jam Session/drones/gun assists respectively. Wesker's assist hits low and can OTG, drones can be used in a blockstring to help maintain offensive pressure (and also do good chip), Jam Session is strong for both defense and combos, and the DHC combos seem pretty potent. All three also have strong rushdown and wicked-looking combos, and Dante can even do some zoning between drones and his own projectiles.

Unfortunately, wikis aren't a priority for anyone. The proportional size and strength of a fighting game community in comparison to the size and strength of their wikis is a total joke.

True enough, but even if it's a stickied thread it can cover what Hat is talking about. Going to DustLoop I was able to easily find stickied guides for Jin and Tsubaki. Jin didn't have anything for CT, it was all CS information like I wanted. Tsubaki being new I didn't have this problem, but it was just as easy to find info. BnBs, matchup discussion, changes from CS -> CS2, etc. DustLoop as a community has always come off as a place I'd rather not be, speaking from someone who likes his fair share of Japan-rama comics and cartoons. All the BS about fapping to Dizzy was easy to ignore, find the info. I wanted and move on.

Doing the same thing for Rose was not that easy on SRK. Constant useless discussions and other clutter in the information threads that may not even be updated for Super, let alone now that AE is out. I genuinely like SRK too.

If TechTalk can do it right it's skullfuckingly stupid that the other forums can't follow its lead. And that's why I pin it on moderation. Kyle handles TechTalk well enough and the people posting in it run the spectrum from Toodles (who makes the Cthulu boards) to random trolls. Chindogg does nothing but lock MvC3 after MvC3 thread and want you to talk in the thousand page long discussion thread which doesn't help clean up the board at all. He's also as much of a troll half the time as the "moronic 09ers" that make up the boards now.

That's about the same thing, which just makes it easier to not give a shit. Might even be a chicken and egg thing, since the more organized communities are smaller, and have less chaff to manage.

It works after certain moves to end your air series. I think the last forum king literate linked an old TGS video where she was able to combo it after her leg drill move in the air.

Probably like Spidey, he has to webswing to combo maximum spider rather than being able to do it at the end of a series.

They still have other uses too since they stay on screen after she's done with the super.

Really hoping her, lei lei, or felicia make it to assist tier at least when it's all said and done. Vampire needs all the whoring it can get.

I'll miss my Shinkuu Eraser/Soul Hadouken (order depending for the name) team hyper from MvC1 and 2. About the only thing I'd like to see added for her given what we know of her and the game so far.

Bastardized MvC2 Morrigan can rot in MvC2 for all I care. Doesn't play anything like she does in her origin series, which is why I like TvC/MvC3 Morrigan so much. Seems the devs are more interested in pulling stuff out of Darkstalkers, dusting it off, and making it work in Marvel this time around.

I'd rather see Cryptic Needle brought back (and properly buffed) instead of Soul Eraser if she was to receive a full-screen punish hyper.

After loading VS to test that, couldn't remember what move that was, I don't know how they'd give that to her in the Vs. series as is and buff it. If they made it some kind of level three that worked like Magneto's level 3 that might be a start though. That would also give it some nice animation time with the needles.

    Any number of the following:

    - longer range (bigger playing field in Marvel, so it's kind of needed)
    - faster speed
    - give it throw properties (it can be blocked in VSav)
    - aerial use or angled versions, if you really wanted to go nuts >_>

while of course retaining projectile invincibility.

Honestly? In the beginning, you'll be fine. Even on MvC2 right now there are people who are complete balls. So don't worry about getting crushed.

As for 3, it took years for the SF online crowd to mature to where even guys in the 2500's I am facing are doing legit, hard hitting combos (and yet their defense still sucks, which is why they're still in the 2500's). So, don't worry.

Just play. Don't take losses too hard and you'll improve.

    Repost from previous:

Alright bitches, who do you think got to play MvC3 today at Best Buy for an hour or so?

Hell yeah, this fucker right here!!!

Oh god I can't wait to own this, they really outdid themselves. I took my time beating down a group of high schoolers who said they skipped school because they had nothing better to do. They didn't win once. ;)

Tried out everyone that I could, and yeah, Phoenix has fucking shit for life. Actually, the damage scaling in this is pretty dang high, it doesn't take much to knock someone out. Phoenix takes one or two combos and she's down, adios. Forget a super, don't even need it. One will about kill her outright.

Dante I will warn, will be the new Ken for newbs. They were all playing him, and his reach combined with button mashibility makes him decent if you have no clue how to defend against it. Add in the other chick from DMC and they just light the screen up with crap.

Otherwise X-23 is WAY better than I thought, and I might main her after all. She has awesome range, a great air launch and is hella easy to use, plus fast to boot. Hulk is about the same, and Cap seems to have gotten a little better. His shield slash is faster, and hits on the way back now as well, which is nice. I had trouble using Tron Bonne though for some reason, I couldn't get any of her old moves out. Probably just me though.

Sadly there was no unlocked/DLC folks, so no sent or Jill, etc.

Yes, Magneto is still a bitch, and storm is fucking insane. This game looks soooooo much better in person. ;)

Dante frightens me because he looks like a dude I'd want to play, but there'll be soooooo many of them.

At the time, it was more that most of the "moronic posters" that popped up in those days were recent newcomers to the site. "This post is moronic." -> "Oh, that join date. Makes sense" instead of "This poster has a recent join date" -> "I'll bet they're a moron." The former led to the stereotyping, which led to the removal of join date next to peoples' posts.

It didn't become a thing until SF4 launched and there was a sizable influx of new posters (in the previous 8-9 years, there was no reason for an influx). And since nowadays you have to click on someone's profile to see that info instead of just having to look over, it's much less a thing than it used to be.

I mostly used SRK back in the early days for the Northwest matchmaking forums to hear of and discuss local tournaments. Not so much now.

Depending on what the "09er" said you're either 100% correct or the response the "09er" gets is warranted.

When SF4 was newly released the 09 hate was almost universally stupid as the people were new, and asking new questions. SRK being what its always been was beyond stupid about it.

Anymore it seems about 50/50 between people not reading stickies (when they're actually capable of answering a question at least, as has been mentioned SRK is mostly miss there) or carrying themselves with the online warrior mentality or just flat out trolling in non SRK approved of ways or any combination of other things that contribute nothing to the scene. Sometimes it's stupid other times it's just the easiest insult to hurl and move on if that's your thing.

It's like any other forum at the end of the day, it has uses and limitations.

I'm going to beat the dead horse for now until eternity, but most of the mods there don't care and will encourage the trolling. It's an SRK holdover from from alt.sf or whatever it was that spurred Inkblot and Ponder to start the website. Most of the time that's easy enough to ignore. The lack of moderation for all the useless threads and derailment of formerly useful threads is why they need actual mods.

I know the whole BUY A TE thing has been done to death, however for the more budget-minded casual player that just really fucking hates the Xbox 360 controller for fighting games, are there any particular sticks around the 50-60 dollar mark that I should look at or avoid? The TE fight stick is close to $300 in Australia, and international shipping on them is massive - I simply cannot justify this cost for one game, so I've been looking for some cheaper ones.

A guy on a local forum said he's selling a Hori fight stick that's been modded with a Seimitisu joystick (which doesn't mean much to me), but hasn't given a price yet. If I can get that for 50-60 AUD, would that be a decent entry-level stick?

Man read my post above. ;)

The Tekken Hori fightstick comes with the limited Edition for Tekken 6, and runs only $60 on Amazon. This includes a good artbook and a copy of Tekken 6 which you can promptly sell off to recoup some cash. From the reviews it seems pretty decent, the only thing that will likely suffer is durability.
