Help with Wordpress and Identifying a Plugin

Hi H&A, hopefully you can help me wout with this.

My website recently took on 4 new members, and we all agreed that a rejigging of the website might be fun. So I'm sitting in fromnt of Wordpress and my mind has gone a total blank.

We're wanting to have a 'latest news' section consitsting of a picture or logo that has bit of the news, and changes up beween the five latest news. As to what this is called, I have no idea, which is where my problem is. If I knew what it was called I'd be ok, but I have this gaping void where the answer should be.

Joystiq has an excelelnt example of what I mean:

I mean the red circled part...what would you call that?? And as a bonu-question, anyone know a good WP Plugin to achieve such a thing??

you could use something like this. it doesn't work by how recent it is, though, it works by category, so you'd just have to deselect the category it uses as your posts get older.

if you want it to function as a header like that, however, you could look into using a carousel

CAROUSEL! God, that's been on the tip of my tongue for like a week now, lol
