So yeah, you can find an XM8 LMG with Magnum ammo lying around there.

are you sure you gain their perks? I've never had my perks switch when I pick up another kit; ie, my explosive perks remain in effect when picking up another kit from Engineer. The previous effects of their perks might be in effect, such as their shotgun having double mag capacity until I reload or having 3 spare 40mm grenades, but they don't ever stay.

I'm fairly sure the main weapon perk stays. I've picked up Saigas before that had Slug Rounds, and Sniper Rifles with 12x scopes. Now maybe only those extra weapon-specific perks carry over, but I think it might be everything. Testing it certainly couldn't hurt though :^:

Weapon-specific perks like sights and slugs stay but the extras like extended mags do not. Pick up a 12 round Saiga without having the shotgun+ perk. Reload. It will now have 6 rounds.

Yeah if that's the case then magnum would most certainly not carry over :(

But still, go pick up a kit with the M416 and win forever!

I've been using the F2000 for quite a while now, heading for platinum. At one point in the match I ended up with an AUG. It was the weirdest of feelings, everyone was dropping like flies, and I could actually kill more than 2 people with a single mag.

So I played a little bit today after not playing for a couple months. Jesus Christ, my skills have declined. Also, the shotgun attachment sucks and its stupid and its for stupid people. Im so used to running around with the grenade launcher and hitting people who are more than 5 feet in front of me, or blowing up a wall and killing the dudes inside the building.

Unless they changed something, weapon perks do carry over. Back when I started, I had like nothing unlocked, and grabbed someones XM* LMG with magnum rounds. Needless to say I killed far more than I ever thought I would with that thing, never having used an LMG with magnum rounds before then.

Whelp, played part of one round. Spot key was about the most useful thing I did, when I managed to press it before dieing. I was on a team that was getting spawncamped pretty hard, never got very out of the spawn zone before exiting out. :P

    Step one, play medic.

Step two, find a squad with an assault in it.

Step three, follow him. Drop medkits every time he stops, then watch his back. Spot as often as possible and use your lmg to lay down cover fire for him. You'll get points like crazy and stay to unlock things. This strategy gets even more profitable when you unlock the defibrilator.

If he dies and you don't, run for cover. Stay alive for ten seconds and he can respawn on you.

I should mention that you get 30 points for Critical Kill Assist just for doing random things like pointing your crosshair at an enemy when he dies.

Fun fact for newbies: You can actually get more points for helping kill someone than for actually killing him. That's how important spotting and squad/teamwork is in BFBC2.

Fun games with Ghost, Warcry, Carbon, Root, Anti, Blain, and Houn tonight!

How good in general is play across different continents/regions? I'm exclusively playing on European servers at the moment, but that also means that I tend to be restricted in terms of the games available to me at any time.

So my friends have been ragging on me to get around to checking out BC2. I've owned it for awhile, just haven't been in the mood for shooters. Finally loaded it up last night.

Join a conquest map, and my team is getting destroyed. The enemy has all 3 command points and is containing my whole team at our base from point A. I die once assaulting the frontline without even seeing what killed me.

So I say fuck that, grab a jeep, tear straight through the front line while zig-zagging to dodge incoming tankfire, drive all the way back to point C (which was completely abandoned), hop out of my jeep, and singlehandedly cap it. I then spend the next 5-10 minutes until we lose holding my point and never dying, kniifing the 2 dudes who came to take it back.

    Pretty goddamn good start, IMO.

Was playing Cold War Rush before as SVU recon. I decided to spawn with Exp. MkII and wait behind a car for about a minute. Sure enough, they all come pouring over the hill towards A. Instead of opening up on the group like I normally would, I aimed my mortars at the corner of the building beside A. Once the lock was complete, I lobbed a grenade behind the building just as a guy rounded the corner. He shot me, I ducked into cover with my ears ringing. As the ringing faded, I was introduced to the sound of my double damage mortars raining down all over the enemy and my teammates grouped around me, firing full auto into the survivors. I got four kills in one out of that and half the enemy team died in the intial assault. Frankly I was amazed that many people actually grouped up and worked as a team all at one time. A shame, really.

I had a pretty great BC2 moment in Panama Canal the other night.

Capping B near the start of the game, and the tank comes rolling through from A. I strap it up with some C4, but I don't hit the trigger just yet, waiting for any other enemies to show up (the tank didn't notice me at all).

In a stroke of luck, the tank backs out of B (presumably to go to C) right into another enemy tank coming from A. A tank with an engineer in tow.

Long story short- 2 tanks and 5 kills, with 2 bricks of c4.

There's a bunch of problems with BC2 today, probably related to the DA:O DLC servers being down.

I had a few playable games but now I, along with many other people, are getting that bug that when you enter a game all but the starting kits are unavailable to you. I'm thinking its related to the game being unable to authorize the promo DLC that gave you access to the Repair Tool, Defib, and Med/Ammo pack right from level 1 as those are unavailable to me as well.

In any case even if you were planning to play the game has been disconnecting me within 5 minutes of joining a server.

Had one of those in a buggy a couple of nights ago on Heavy Metal. We were down to just point A as the Russians, and the US had a stranglehold on B supported by a scary good Apache team. So Blain and I jump in the "Funvee" (Dune Buggy) and motor off down the left side of the map, avoiding tank fire as we hurtle down the hill. Just as we get to the bottom of the left hill overlooking B, the Apache crests the hill and starts firing rockets at us. I swerve and serpentine back and forth as we slowly ascend that left hill, quickly realizing we are not going to escape this chopper without a fight. So just as the chopper swung around for another attack, I quickly jumped out, leveled my AT4, and guided that sucker straight into the Apache's cockpit (which, considering how many rockets this pilot had dodged that game, was no small feat). While I was dealing with the Apache, Blain was busy keeping a nearby engineer suppressed behind some rocks with the buggy's grenade launcher.

So I hop back into the jeep, we head up the hill, noticing a wookie camped on the ridge directly in front of us. I gun it, and moments later we jump the crest and hurtle down the other side with a brand new furry hood ornament.

Some more tank shell dodging later, we finally make it to C. We steal the unused Abrams there, proceed to kill the tank that was taking potshots at us and cap C. We weren't able to hold it for long (the Apache respawned and tore us a new one), but man was it a good run 8-)

(I really need to start FRAPSing these things :P)

Yes, and god I hope not.

BF2/2142 had perfectly serviceable in-game VOIP. No reason that BF3 shouldn't have it as well. It's a bit of a travesty how bad BC2's in-game VOIP is compared to its older siblings.

The Garand was (and AFAIK still is) unlocked when your Battlefield Veteran status is 1 or higher, meaning you have at least one other BF game registered to your EA account. Both PC and Xbox versions of BF games will count as long as your gamertag is linked to the account. I think even the free BF Heroes counts.

I've started playing on the PC, now that I have a rig that can actually run this game. The transition from PS3 to PC has been pretty brutal, what with not having anything unlocked. Is it just me, or are the hitboxes much less forgiving on PC? It seems like I have to throw 30+ rounds at an enemy to take him out, while on console 7-10 rounds would have done the trick.
