So I've had this behemoth of a tv for a while, a huge 56" projection thing that is a pain in the ass to move around (which I've had to do a lot of recently). I'm looking to sell the thing off and buy a new one, preferably something light weight and flat screen.
Now, I've never purchased a new tv before, so I'm a little lost to be honest. LCD? LED-LCD? Plasma? Which brands should I steer towards, and which should I avoid? I looked around Costco the other day, but I wasn't terribly pleased with their prices. I've been told to check out newegg, but I'm not too keen on buying online. Fry's, Best Buy, Target, WalMart? Should I bother looking at any of them? I was hoping for something 40" or bigger, and I'm not looking to spend more than ~$600. Any advice?
