[SOLVED] Who makes this silverware, and where can I get more? [PICS]

OK, H/A--you've astounded me with your abilities before, and now i come with a new challenge.

A few years back I moved into an apartment with 5 other dudes. A typical college apartment, it had mountains of plates/bowls/silverware that had been there for ages. While there, I found this:

5447044281_868f0ca46f.jpg

This is the best spoon I have ever used. The bowl is deep enough to hold a substantial mouthful of Reeses Puffs (the greatest cereal known to man), but not so deep that you have to flip it upside down to get yogurt out (like those damned Wendy's plastic spoons). It's thick, too--I've attacked my fair share of solid ice cream with it, and it has yet to bend on me even on the most freezer burnt crap i've thrown at it. It's got a bit of a squared off end, and the handle is simple and no-frills. In short, it is the apex of flatware.

I have long Googled (and Amazon'd, overstock'd, etc) for the maker of this King of Cutlery, but alas, it has been in vain. Even specialty silverware sites haven't carried this particular beauty. The only identifying mark on it is this:

5447647032_40bf0e8082.jpg

I know that the "18/8" bit is the stainless steel grade, but I'm hoping someone here will recognize the "s" mark (or maybe it's a lowercase 'g'? or a stylized '9'?) and be able to help narrow down the brand or something.

Help me, H/A--you're my only hope.

TL;DR--I want more spoons like the one pictured; does anyone know the brand that marks their silverware like that?

Search around for sugar spoons. A lot of sugar spoons have that similar shape.

These are really expensive but to give you an idea of what's out there.

Thanks for the tip, Deku--but I'm more looking to find this specific set of flatware--as in, if i can find who makes it, I can find the set type, and can get forks, knifes, etc. to complete the set. There are a few similar looking sets out there, but I'm looking for this specific brand/manufacturer.

Might try taking it to a restaurant supply store and see if they recognize the mark. Probably a long shot.

Pretty sure that's Sur La Table flatware, similar to (but maybe not exactly like) this set:

msh1283--that's not a bad idea, or maybe a place like BedBath and Beyond might recognize the brand. If nobody here ends up recognizing it, i'll have to try that.

bowen/six--those sets are pretty close, but it looks like they're both Fortessa brand--whose mark on their silverware looks like this:

Yeah they also appear slightly weaker in terms of girth of the silverwear, they'd probably bend if you tried to eat some frozen ice cream.

Try taking it to a pawnshop or silversmith of sorts and see if they recognise the marking. I'm sure you could also find a book at a library with markings.

You, sir, have ended a 3 year quest. Thank you so much. The one you linked at BBB is the chrome version, but that lead to the manufacturers website where I found the matte version:

    NONSTOP_full.jpg

I even called up their customer support, and a live human being answered! I emailed her the pictures I'd posted earlier, and she confirmed that that is their trademark on the back of the spoon. She is even going to send me a few of the serving utensils that they don't sell in the US (apparently they're a Canadian company--which would explain why she was so nice). I'm stopping by Bed Bath and Beyond this afternoon to pick up a set.

H/A, you never cease to amaze. Thanks.

This forum gets more worked up over kitchen utensils than any other group of people I've come across, and the fewer moving parts, the better.

    No joke.

Does it mean that we're old since we're ogling flatware? A lot of people don't appreciate having a good utensil, so that's awesome to see that others care about what they're using to put stuff in their mouths!

My dad has a spoon that I hunt down every time I'm at his house. It is the only spoon I will use when I'm there, I'm so glad I'm not the only one.

This set looks awesome...seems like a definite improvement over the hodgepodge mix and match crap the fiance' and I have right now... Perhaps a trip to BBB is in our future as well! Thanks for posting this! :D

I would also recommend the set we are using by Retroneu. I like the look and good feel in the hand, heavy.

Don't like the way that set looks. Almost too childish, especially in the knife and small fork

They're thick and made of out steel instead of stamped aluminum, hence looking more curved and round. Modern spoons and knives are only as thin/sharp because they're stamped and cut right out of sheets.

My mom got me a spatula made of stainless steel from the germans. Here it is sitting on top of a pan it destroyed:

    scratchpan.jpg

It's the most awesome spatula ever and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be handing it down to my kids and/or any elves dressed in green clothing that walk into my home and defeat me. You really can't see the thickness of it in that pic though.

You can usually find stuff like that at restaurant supply stores. As it is, the only cooking utensil I buy from Wal Mart and the like are can openers.

Yes, I know, but I didn't have any money for new pans at that time the picture was taken.

Non-nonstick pans are so much better it's not even funny.
