I think I'd like to see Disney do a Simpson's land but I think unlike Marvel they'll keep the Universal deal going because I doubt they're gonna do much with the property beside put it in Disney plus when the fxx stuff runs its course

I thought that was half of ShadowRun in general. Getting hired by one mega corp to take another mega corp down a notch or two.
The other half is the inevitable betrayal by "your" mega corp who try to have you killed to tie up some loose ends on the operation, naturally requiring you to start a second run to get your hard earned pay, and a little payback.

Then the whole thing winds up with you on the shit lists for two mega corps, but also on the "Hire these goons for a good run" list for the rest of the corps. Or dead.

The Simpsons won't ever be totally abandoned. Like the Flintstones at Universal's park, the Simpsons has to make some kind of showing even after the TV show is canceled.

Oh I dont think they will either but I dont see Disney ever bothering with a Springfeild attraction and its better in the long term to keep the universal deal going since they dont pay for it

You'd be surprised. They keep the Muppets going in multiple places in their parks, and they're arguably less popular/lucrative than the Simpsons.

Honestly the best way to keep the Simpson's relevant would be to bring the show to the end and then do a movie every few years after a hiatus.

I maintain if we age up the kids to put Bart and Lisa in high school( Lisa can skip a few grades) and Maggie in elementary theres tons of room to explore new facets of their personalities.

Though my Final season pitch is an 18 year old Bart accidentally gets his girlfriend( a well off rich girl who gets along well with the family save Marge and who's family initially disowns her) Pregnant and we see the family and town react to that. There would be a running arc of Homer trying desperately to keep Bart from ending up like he did as well giving purpose to his get rich quick schemes.

I think the perfect time to permanently age up Bart and Lisa was when Krabapple's voice actress died. It would have been an easy point to give Bart a new dedicated teacher and allow Bart to react to his former teacher's death in-universe rather than the only acknowledgement of her death being the sporadic "woe is Ned, a widower twice over" jokes.

After the last few episodes of the Simpsons I was wondering if the show was starting to ebb in quality again. Then, a few weeks ago, it came out that Megan Amram, one of the key writers of The Good Place, had joined the writing staff and her first episode was coming out. Now, despite the... heavy importance fans/lapsed fans put on specific personalities, the show is highly collaborative, and despite her talent the episode (Bart vs. Itchy and Scratchy) might have been altered or watered down.

But then I watched it. Ho. Lee. Shit. It was fantastic! Great premise, great use of the guest stars, fantastic dialog, wonderful character moments (especially Lisa torn between old-school rebellion and being, well, herself), etc. Even the sight gags were several notches above what we've seen recently. Honestly, it might be as good as episodes from the classic era. I know, I was surprised too.

I've been searching for this thread for ages. The last few Family Guys have actually been oretty funny, particularly the Treehouse of Romance and the 90s episodes. Funny what following a single plot thread instead of going off on random non-conclusions can do for you. And the Thanksgiving of Horror was the best Horror episode of the simpsons in 20 years.

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: A vast and ancient sofa
Stands in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and goofy smile,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:
And on the screen these words appear:
'My name is Homer Simpson, king of animation:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

    Sic transit gloria mundi.

Anyone watching Bless the Hearts? I'm liking it. It's more good natured than I expected, and it doesn't feel like it's punching down at poor people.

Also they apparently got permision from Mike Judge to use Mega Lo Mart, which I thought was neat.

You got me curious enough to look at the episode synopses on Wikipedia. I'm gonna at least watch the one where they go to Myrtle Beach seeing as I have gone there lots of times and I'm very curious to see how it is represented.

Honestly, unless there's some weird shennanigans with the Fox network, I seriously doubt the show will get cancelled now. Disney pushed the Simpsons hard as a selling point for Disney +, and Fox has already renewed it to season 32. You lot will have something to be annoyed at for a while longer, I'm guessing.

The selling point for Disney+ and the Simpsons is the back catalog, not new seasons.

The back catalog which keeps growing with new seasons. Just like how Disney+ adds new content in other areas.

I know this will come to a shock to many of you, but there are loads of people who actually do like watching Simpsons stuff after season 10 or so.

Ya I been binging the simpsons since getting +, and once you get thru those couple seasons everyone rages over, it climbs again.
Never reaches the heights of the originals , sure, but still a lot better than a large chunk of stuff. And there's been the odd joke that's just floored me, various seasons have had some serious talent on the writing team slipping in some just crazy almost Bojack level cross episode gags.
Those seasons that most complain about tho, woof, they are both a sharp decline in quality of story, and oddly for about 3 seasons the show gets downright mean and bigotted, thankfully that seems to calm back down too.

The other weird thing when returning to simpsons with a binge after not seeing in years is both how many seasons/episodes are much newer than remembered/and the flashbacks/memories the episodes you do remember pop into your head.
