Can you tell us more about the studio? Who's producing? Is it Sir Scoots?
The studio is pretty awesome. It's very much so going to look like an ESPN sports desk kind of studio, with a 42'' big screen where I'm going to look on for cues, there's a very nice studio quality camera that's going to be recording us and then streaming it live. We have graphics designers on hand. It's pretty cool.
sounds like the production will be as high as we think it will be for nasl
you know that showmatch was probably also a good idea in terms of logistics because it gave them a first look at what they need to rectify and how they can improve

Come back into this thread after not keeping up for a few days.
Read the news about NASL.
Barely stopping myself from calling InControl on Skype (still have his account saved) and yelling at him how much I love him.

Okay I'm totally shelling out money for a premium pass for the NASL.
It's over three months of ridiculous amounts of games and I want to support it.
I don't know why people are fussing about the website's looks, it looks good to me?
I'm not fussing over the site itself, though there's room for improvement. I'm specifically annoyed at the polish level (as opposed to the Polish level) of the big announcement trailer. If you've had X months to work that out, and have all this money behind you to make you look your best, then I want to see it look really slick.
Don't get me wrong; I couldn't do better. I feel like they could have easily gotten someone to take the exact same script for the video and make it look ten times more professional, though.
Haha, I love being in bronze. I got 6 pooled on Shakuras, but the lings didn't get to my ramp until like 7 minutes. And before that, I had a terran hard turtling on Xelnaga. I ended up with three bases and beat him with a seven colossi-strong army.
Why would you ever want to leave this league, Joe? It's awesome!
"Ah, he's pink. That's a little gay."
"A little ironic to say that while using purple."
"No, no, purple's royal; pink's slightly gay."
"You heard it here first, Jemag's gay and TLO's royal."
"Well look, I didn't exactly say that... and maybe he's a girl, I don't know."

Thats actually worrying to me. Full answer:

It's a collaborative effort. Russ' background is in construction, his family owns a construction company so that's what he's always done, managed construction sites. And then Duncan in the Hollywood movie producing, side so it's kind of a melding of the two. And then we've had other people offer help. Sir Scoots from EG has definitely said that he'd love to help, MLG has been very gracious with the whole thing and love to offer advice. But it's definitely a grass roots effort in the sense that we're not hiring out, we're not getting crews to come in here. We're definitely getting trained by professionals but I mean it's gonna be run by Andre (Gretorp) and myself, Russ, Duncan, and the varying people surrounding GosuCoaching and our friends that kind of came together and helped put this together.
I'd prefer them to get professionals if they're going big. This more so...
Tell us about the stream quality.
Sure, that's something we're very proud of. Obviously when you do something like this that's broadcast online, we're selling high octane competition with the best players, but that doesn't mean anything if it doesn't reach the viewers. So we're taking every precaution necessary. We've definitely put together the most comprehensive machines to render and record and stream the activity. But we're also using fiber optics internet and then we're actually partnered with Justin.tv and they are working with us side by side. So there's a lot on the line for Justin.tv. But you know what? They're getting more involved with eSports as well and they're excited for the opportunity to show, as far as they're concerned and as far as we're concerned the best streaming organization there is.
So for all the talk of it being oh em gee huuuge its them doing it on their own with some "law school graduate" and streaming over Justin.tv.
I mean I'm almost definitely going to get it but there are some red flags
People in day9's chat channel now saying that this has "horrible production value" and "clearly NASL is going to suck why would they even make it it's just going to be more of this."
Why are people so GODDAMN STUPID
production is tough, and often overlooked. looks like they're missing some pieces, but hopefully they'll fill them in, or get someone who knows how to fill them in.
I don't know what to think of Incontrol as a commentator, especially after reading that interview...
He has a lot to work on I guess, I don't think he is bad though.
He can be almost 100% prime-time bland sports caster when he wants. Not sure how "serious" the sponsors are going to force him, but his off-color humor can turn people off (or make it more attractive, who knows, depends on the viewer).
I'm guessing that he's going to be professionally reigned in, though.
These NASL votes have already been ravaged by spam bots.
Destiny's votes doubled in the span of about 10 minutes, around the same time that PiQLiQ sprang into existence with enough votes to start in 2nd place.
e: God damn, PiQLiQ absolutely for sure, he's gaining like a thousand votes per minute, heh.

yeh, the voting thing isnt well conceived. they're going to have to do like a mega tournament to seed players properly.

can someone check if the voting is still disabled for me? just had a chat with geoff....

My poor overworked eyes! I'll have to buy goggles just so that I can throw them down and complain about their performance!
EDIT: Actually, the truly biggest thing about this is that it's Blizzard-sponsored. The 16-man finals are offline play.

yeah that was kinda awesome
I'm glad he won I honestly didn't expect it. makes me happy.
He's an unaccomplished shit-talker who chokes in minor events.
he has a vocal fanbase?
you know this isnt a "your votes must be justified with a resume of the player you are voting in"
its a popularity contest
so if a player is popular
theyll get in
Idea deleted
EDIT: Also nasl.tv is doooowwwwnnn
Joe's professional career ended before it could begin,
That's why we're running our own showmatches, right?

While that might be entertaining, I'm not sure how well it would be received....
