I wish I had known that about lockpicking. I've found exactly three locked chests so far (Act 2 Ch 8) and haven't seen any others since. Total waste of points (unless things change drastically between now and the endgame). I'm definitely going to try to do a bit of research before I jump into another character.
I've been trying to find a site that displays all four characters' skill trees, but thus far I've had no luck. C'mon internet, work faster.

I think once you put points into lockpicking, you just open chests and don't know they are locked.
Atleast, that is the impression I got because before putting points in them I'd see locked chests everywhere. Now I see none.
Really, this island seems to have a thing for energy drinks. I'm expecting to run across a red bull plant later and find out that red bull gives you zombiiiiies.
And I also expect my character to die of a heart attack after chain chugging six of the damned things.
So, skull/skull mod question. Spoilers for those who don't want to know about the purple or blue skulls.
So, I found the purple skull in the sewers, and I guess that its altar AND the blue skull are in the abandoned house for the "unwanted Guests" quest. Problem is, I've already done that quest and it doesnt look like I can get back into that house. Am I screwed here?
I just found a "brown skull" in the resort area. Do i need to find an altar? I heard theres supposed to be one near the lifeguard station?
It was posted where to find it a while back. Follow the beach going north and look for some boards letting you go upwards into the rocks. Just jump up and keep "climbing" and you'll eventually reach the top where you'll find the altar.

Most chests in act 2 are locked, actually.
If they have that little number pad on the front of them, it means they were locked but your awesome lockpicking skill trumped it.
@mojojoeo might wanna spoiler that... but yeas pretty fucked up
A bit unexpected.

So is it possible to find any skulls before going to town? I'm about to load up the save I have from the hotel when you go and get the truck to clear the tunnel.

Ayup. Altar's also in act 1. Down and to the right of the...think it's the Sapphire bungalows. The ones primarily between the lifeguard station and lighthouse. Go behind the high voltage area, hug the wall, and jump along the rocks on the cliff.
Out of curiosity (And incase I mess up) is there any way to respec (besides creating a character at chapter X)?
I ask this not because I desperatly need to respec but on the occasion like in borderlands I want to toss all my money away to try out investing heavily in anouther skill tree

You can get back into that house. Just look for the portal on the map sort of on the north east side.
People who think they are losing their save progress when they "log" out, you are not.
However, if you quit playing during a quest where you have two things to do, and you have only done one of them, it will drop back to you having done none of them when you load your save back up, but all your stats/money etc will have saved.
So, basically. Hand in quests before you quit. "I'll hand that in tomorrow" will not work out well for you. If you're in the middle of a quest, finish it or be prepared to start that quest again when you come back to the game.
so firearms are getting goddamn ridiculous on my purna.
i've got +30% damage on all modified guns, plus nearly doubled ammo capacity.
i'm still really good at melee combat, but now, when i just don't feel like messing around with some special zombie, i can blow him the fuck away.
one-shotting thugs with a shotgun all day erry day
and thanks to a fellow PAer, i was able to pick up a glitched quest that never appeared in my game - Council of Despair. Now I have the weapon recipe i was missing, the Torch Mod. Thanks Toxic Pickle!

I got piercing shot instead of wunderwaffe. I figured if i shot a crit bullet it would crit a line of zombies. I just want like all of the talents. It's not like WoW where you can tell the sucky talents from the good ones by just reading it.

Most zombies don't exactly line up for you, though. It seems like a very bad skill when instead I can get +30% damage.

Oh ho ho, left hand of glova is pretty rad. Super expensive to craft and reapir though... Had to grind the money to make the damn thing.
Worth it though

So I see some weapon mods have colors to them, does that mean that white level mods can eventually be upgraded or you might eventually find a better version of one?
Is it bad that I'm level 11 and I haven't taken the Fury skill yet on Sam B? The normal melee tree just seems way better, and some of the survival options are pretty nice too. In comparison, being able to rage a little bit just doesn't seem that great, especially since I'm already destroying zombies right and left with my gold quality hammer.

Really? I checked the door and I could not find a portal on the map, but I'll check again.

There is one skull I am exploring the entire island to find...
Have many on this thread tried random co-op yet? How has it been? I'm toying with the idea but still wary.
I played with a guy who seemed stoned out of his mind, asking more than once, "So how to you like the game so faaaaar?" He didn't seem to contribute to much of the killing, but did a decent amount of looting. Then, when we hit the sewers, he up and quit on me, and made me go the whole length of the Sewers alone. What was worse, the navigation messed up after he left, so I was going through the sewers blind.
I hope that guy Red Rings his 360.
EDIT: Other than that, there was one dude who helped out during the later parts of Act 1, and I admit I wouldn't have gotten through Act 1 nearly as well as I did without him. The other two experiences went like this: "Player is Busy" and after 4 minutes of him standing around, I just dropped out. Then another one, "Player is Busy" and he dropped out literally 20 seconds later.

Alright, I double checked and there is no portal icon on my map, and I cant use the front door. Damn.
Everyone gets the stomp. The characters actually seem pretty balanced.
I dunno. Xian is doing disturbing amounts of damage in MP. I feel pretty useless as Purna sometimes.
Xian is offense and quick kills.
Sam B. is a tank and focuses on drawing attention and knocking down enemies flat.
Purna is range and support. The "range" part is the thing that puts people off from Purna, due to the severe lack of guns early in the game. I'd say she's still great, though, and a guy on gamefaqs even had a good build for her.
Logan, who I'm using right now, is like a Jack-of-All-Trades that dabbles a bit here and there, but his prime focus is throwing shit. Because of that, I try and focus on Deo Grenades and Molotovs, as well as using my melee weapons as throwing weapons.... though the effects can go wrong if my Boomerang skill doesn't activate, or if there's mobs of enemies.
For everyone, I always pack a pistol, just in case. Those Suiciders are real douches.
Range isn't the issue with Purna, it's damage. Guns just blow for damage. I see Xian doing 2k effortless with that special jump attack, I'm doing 1k on prone dudes. Shit, with a very good heavy pistol I'm only doing 500 to the head on zombies. It's just not effective at all in 4-player. This is at Level 29.

The DPS on pistols is fine, the problem is in 4 player even with the ammo upgrades, you blow all your ammo to kill 4 or 5 walkers
I am soooo far behind on this game/thread, but having finally had the time to put a few hours into it, I've made it to the first main hub and am loving the shit out of it. It's like a more melee heavy Boarderlands, but with fewer things/mechanics in it that make me feel crazy. I like that I can judge pretty well at a glance if an item is worth picking up or ignoring, and am trying to pick and choose what to hold onto, upgrade and eat up valuable inventory slots with. I'm only level 6 or so, but I definitely enjoy how visceral everything feels.

I can't speak to the PC version but the save problem is a real issue on the console. As in losing completed quests, levels, cash, etc as opposed to just "oops I guess I can't quit mid-quest".
