All Rammus really needs to be a gank threat is his power ball anyway. A good gank isn't entirely decided on the strength of the ganker, it's about finding players out of position and punishing them for their mistake.
Anyone can gank at any level, even if you fail a gank you can come back around the bushes and do it again since most players immediately let their guard down after a failed attempt. (And usually stop what they're doing to taunt you in chat about it.)
That said Tree does make mistakes, all the "pros" do. Doesn't make their commentary of the game any less valid. If there's a Jungle Rammus, it's usually a good idea to be wary of his ganks, I don't see how that's bad advice.
Irelia is FOTM according to Hotshotgg and the forums. Its at like 73 pages since this morning.
Well, yeah
Another one of those things they started figuring out on the EU servers and it got transplanted over here
Irelia is really strong 1v1 and in lane at level 6+. She fills kind of a Warwick-ish role late game, a little different in some ways, but fairly similar overall.

I mean I've been seeing this Irelia FOTM thing coming for weeks, ever since Wickd started playing her a ton and she started showing up more and more in games on the US side as well
I don't have an opinion on whether she's honestly overpowered, but she's definitely at very least a solid, viable champion, and is definitely enjoying a surge in popularity at the moment.

What kind of build are you running? I've owned Xin for awhile and I do great sometimes and other times just can't pull anything off, die, and fall behind. I haven't decided on a mastery or rune setup I like for him yet.

tbh Irelia is one of the few on my 'do not fuck around with' list. She has dropped most of my picks at even CS with jaw dropping efficiency in my experimental 1v1s
but I have never seen games won just because the player picked irelia whereas any other champ would have caused them to lose. She is just dangerous as hell and a prickly pear to engage with as well as owning a deceivingly large area of threat
By the way I would definitely say Xin and Warwick are "overpowered" in the sense that they are stronger than the average champion. Not that they're like "OMG NERF NOW" levels of strong, but they're good champions who I would say fit into a ton of comps and are very welcome on teams in competitive play.

I've made cloth armor+5 health pots kind of a habit. it's pretty awesome starting with 50 armor
not really sure on the item build. I'm sort of going wriggles boots wit's end/sotd frozen mallet. wit's end can be kind of hilarious against kassadin or blitzcrank.

I think with the defense mastery I get up to 55 defense actually

My recent Lux build has been to rush the Sheen (wicked damage when combined with illumination), then go merc treads or maybe sorc shoes pending enemy comp, then Morello's, then deatchap. If it goes long enough I'll finish the Lichbane and then get something defensive maybe. Maybe pick up a Mejai's early, or build defensive as needed, etc. etc. etc. usual shit.

Take ignite, never stop moving, watch for ganks with his slow/snare combo.
EDIT: Anything more precise than that requires an understanding of who you're playing.
Melee hero? Good luck.
Ranged hero? Just try to keep that pile of crap away from you.
I personally love beating on Swains with Katarina because if he attempts the snare it's a free shunpo to harass. The same thing happens with Anivia Q's, just jump past them and since they're on CD the amount they can do to you in the meantime is diminished.

I mean what kind of tip are you looking for. Run away if he laserbirds you to avoid damage, avoid nevermove, time your harass with when a minion is getting low enough to last hit so he has to choose between his health and his mana, pack lots of health potions so you can shrug off his dot-based early harass.
Yeah Swain is a dick and he can't be bead by too many champions at 6 without a big lead before 6. As tristana I bait the stun, then harass him heavily. I can usually make him go back or kill him a couple times before six, once he hits 6 though I leave him alone.
Yeah, I guess that's the thing. Most chars I play are relatively squishy and he just harasses much better than I can with his dot. Even though I dodge the vast majority of his roots.
Zone him early if possible. Pre-6 he will likely have sustainability issues. After 6 you will need a 2v1 or 3v1 gank to actually kill him unless he has already been disrupted badly.
I shattered his other femur early with a Karma. He was level 4 when I was level 7. Simon was in that game I believe. I was laughing from incredulity how badly I owned him. He recovered when he went to another lane a bit, but yeah, it was nice.
I feel like you're pretty far behind if you go 14 pots. I mean damn, no stats and doesn't build into anything. If you need to 14 pot vs your lane opponent you should probably not be solo lane.

if it lets you stay in lane and get an early kill rather than getting an early kill it's more than paid for itself
Yeah, that's the thing. I don't see the scenario where you get an early kill (multiple really unless you get FB the math doesn't get you there), without any items at all. You need to have an ability/burst heavy character. Not saying it's impossible, I just can't imagine a lot of scenarios where it works.

Economically I think it makes sense as a good strategy for a tough lane. Some games you don't have a choice, you're just stuck there and have to make the best of it. And a 14 pot health start is a good way to mitigate great early harassers like Swain.

Anybody who can get a kill with a doran's shield, cloth armour + 5 pots, or any other non offensive item can do it
for example, urgot with a meki pendant
most starting items don't add as much damage as you think
Yeah it's not damage, it's the survivability. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I'm saying it's a similar gamble to buying multiple doran's items. It's a great idea if you can use them to get more kills, but it's not such a good idea if you get them and then just continue farming.

It depends how much extra farming that hp regen lets you do
I'd rather have shoes and pots then 14 pots. Haveing to go back isn't the worst thing in the world, espeically if you can push the lane so you only miss a few creeps. If you can't push getting someone to sit in your lane and get xp for a bit isn't terrible either.
As long as someone is always farming every lane you're at worst even. When you get back hopefully you'll have an item that will let you farm if not get a kill and win the lane. People are way to damn scared of an early blue pill. So scared they often sit at the tower low health and give away a free kill.
So Cassiopeia isn't really underpowered, she just needs more clicking (or smartcasting 8-)) and her ult is a little wonky? Is that what I got?
I've been on a kick of trying champions I never gave a chance before. Like a few weeks ago people told me Urgot was useless, and damnit, he sure isn't (huge fun factor nonwithstanding). I'm hoping Cass will be a similar experience when/if I buy her (is she free this week?)
Boots + 3 pots should let you stay in a lane long enough to farm for your first item against just about anyone. If you have to back you'll come back stronger and with more pots/wards so you can force them back in return.

most of those pages are people rightfully calling him dumb/wrong. irelia isn't anymore overpowered than xin, udyr, warwick, olaf, renekton.
just look at the masteries he recommends
maybe it works for him but the masses just don't get it
