I really like Dorm but he seems like he needs lots of help keeping people off him. Also love Skrull, but Tenderizer comes out accidentally so much and command grabs can be hard to land against some people.
So how do you block mid air character swap juggles? Do you have to just press in the direction you think they'll hit you next?
I think I read left or right will counter both directions so you can go from down and roll to left and then up. Most people haven't been going for those air swaps, though, in my experience
How many special moves am I missing out on for most characters? I've had a play around and it seems like I can generally only two two specials and one super for each character. Am I missing something?
I was dicking around with sentinel on simple and the drone super came out but I don't think you can do your level 3?
Most people in ranked are atrocious at this game relative to other fighters I've played ranked in.
On the other hand, most other fighters with ranked play modes have people who have had more than one week to get familiar with the game.
I don't remember, wrong or not, people being this bad online week one with Tekken 6, Soul Calibur 4, Vanilla SF4, Super SF4 (if you want to count it), or BlazBlu:CT or CS (again if you count it).
The people I've played are comparatively worse in this, and usually the worse the player the more likely I am to get hate mail and/or rage quits given how often that has happened with other fighters. It hasn't here, which is odd. Not so odd the guy who asked about Storm didn't suck.
You also need to remember that Marvel vs Capcom 3 appeals to a wider audience of gamers, notably ones who don't normally play fighters, due to the IP.
There are a lot of people I know who bought this who have never heard terms like crossover, advancing guard, cross-ups, etc before.
Which goes right back to what I originally posted; those people, good, bad, whatever, usually send hate mail. It isn't happening. Which is odd. That in response to other people wanting to get hate mail a few posts above my original.
It hardly even matters, but they're always funny to read. Especially if you're playing ranked because you're waiting to make a lobby with someone you know, from here, in IRC, and/or tired of training mode. More people should also really idle in IRC.

Yeah...honestly, I'm a beginner at the game(never played any of the other marvel games outside of mashing)...and I'm on a hot streak.

Someone sent me "pick spidy" after I went 3-0 vs. him with my Dante - Ammy - Wesker team (swapped in Zero for one match, but otherwise that). Not sure what that means?
I sent fan mail to one guy, and complimented him on his nice use of combos. His execution was really good, esp. as it was pre-official release. I think he went 3-2 vs. me IIRC.
I almost told a Sent player to go fuck himself, but realized that people who play Sent are probably the type of sad geese looking for any attention at all because their parents didn't love them enough.

So, a couple people have been asking "what do I read with my Marvel Digital Comics subscription?" if they got the SE. Well, I'll post this link here and put it in the OP in case anyone who got their SE wants to know what's good to read.
This game is fun, but somewhat mentally taxing due to everything going on at once.
This, actually. MvC3 is constantly cranked to 11. I find taking breaks very, very helpful.

Keep in mind, that if you're crouchblocking, you won't superjump if you quickly flick the stick up. You always need to center the stick (or at least not be crouching) before tapping downwards or it won't come out.
I'm finding my biggest trouble so far is hitconfirming my combos. I'm doing l-m-h-s chains to completion, whether the opponent's blocking or not, and getting handily punished when I whiff. I should probably be throwing out l-m-h and at that point use s if they're taking hits or a safe special if they're blocking, but I must be running off of pure muscle memory or something because I just can't make it happen.

Well getting someone to rage online didn't take long. Second player match I play today ends with some pub calling me a "no skill faggot" (paraphrasing) after I body him with Dormammu. I told him that he sounded like he was angry, and that he should go to an internet forum and whine about how overpowered Dormammu was.
Ah, just got my first taste of ranked... after my first win I got a message saying "litto bitch faget" from a kid playing ryu/akuma/dante. He must have been mad he couldn't pick Ken. Ranked so far has been just as bad as everyone says it is
Taking the assists out is easier as they take 50% extra damage, but to take Dante on point from 100% to 0% means it was either set to maximum X-Factor, or the damage level was set to higher than normal.
Well, Capcom released a statement saying they know about the ranked/player match connection problems people have and they're looking into it.
...Why they couldn't look into this stuff before the game came out i don't know...probably the same reason they forgot spectator mode.
The real question is why couldn't they look into it when they made SSFIV or SFIV before that. This isn't a new thing. Those games had the exact same problem. You had to use fight request in them too.

See, you need to understand that he was trying to help you. If nobody ever tells you that you're a no skill faggot, how will you ever know?
I must be in the minority...I haven't had hardly any connection problems with ranked matches, doing the Custom Game and setting the language to English seems to help for some reason.
Only one piece of semi-hate mail so far - "You left because you lost, WOW". after a non-ranked match last night.
Which happened to also be when my 15-pound Maine Coon decided that it was snuggle tiems NOW damnit, and started trying to swipe and headbutt the controller out of my hand :P
M, L, and S normals can cancel projectiles. Dunno how they work against stuff like deadpool's guns, but you can use like s.M to dark hole to stop stuff like em disruptor spam or sent's spit.

X-Factored Hulk does even more damage then X-Factored Sentinel
Gamma Crush is the hardest hitting level 1 super in the game
assists take 150% damage with no scaling
and none of those characters have a ton of health

Does anyone ever use their team hyper combination on purpose? I've only ever done that by accident while fumbling for the assist buttons.

Because whenever people see him, they go from turtling to attacking like crazy.
But they're bad at it and I win easily.
That wasn't even a 3x X-factor.
EDIT: Wait, that's in training mode. Are we sure the damage wasn't cranked up for it?

This should also be helpful for those looking to up their game. Normally it's a Tekken series but they featured MvC3 this week.

Trag has another new set of videos up from where he left off with a Ryu combo.
Check out the Annihilation series. Super skull has an arc in it and it deals with other cool cosmic stuff.
Agreed. That story arc for me at least, is one of the best arcs marvel has printed in recent memory.
Adding in 2 tatsu loops as part of juggles
More of Ryu's ridiculous combo potential once you can get the double wave dashes and tatsu loops
Trag even has a combo video for Ryu finally.
It's gonna be insane once people get much more in depth with their characters instead of the usual sentinel crap.
