Encountered my first rage-quitter. His tears only make Dormammu stronger.
Also discovered a bit ago that X-23 can instant-overhead into combo against Sentinel, and can apparently combo her dp motion super against him instead of her normal one after an OTG for a bit more damage.

Yeah...everyone has an instant overhead against Sent because of his size.
Makes dealing with him slightly less bullshit.
Slightly.
Didn't know about that OTG into Weapon X Prime though...will have to use that against him.
I can't get the charge up OTG attack to work with X-23 for the life of me, so I feel a bit limited with her. Without that, I don't know of any other way to combo into any of her hypers. I love her speed and in-your-face style, I just feel limited to basic combos without that OTG.
Jesus, why have I settled on such an execution heavy team? Arthur/Viewtiful Joe/Iron Man is what I am looking at right now.
All of Iron Man's combos require you to be standing and or crouching at the right time to not push the enemy out of range, and Joe's long air combos are awesome but if mash at all you go into air joe and break your combo. And then of course when you do go air joe you have to watch for the right kick to cancel it into your super.
I guess arthur's not to bad. And it is kind of nice to know that if I stick with this team I'll get good execution.
I think I'm just not understanding the OTG state and I'm trying to do it when they're not actually able to be hit.
As long as you're doing an air combo after a launcher and finishing the air combo with QCF+L, you've put them into an unrecoverable knockdown state and should be able to OTG them. The only way that shouldn't work is if you land and wait too long before doing the Ankle Slice. Ideally you start it up as soon as she touches the ground.
Been watching a fair amount of videos, checked out a tourney here in PDX today, while I was out, picked up the Bradygames guide. There's definitely a LOT more viable character choices than the ones I'm seeing in a lot of these videos, it seems. And some of the conventional wisdom (such as it is within the first 6 days of release) has already been proven wrong in quite a few ways. Biggest example I can think of is Ryu. Word around day 1 was that he was easily one of the worst characters in the game, if not THE worst, especially when compared to Akuma. Videos like the ones previously posted, and some of the tourney vids I've watched show that isn't exactly the case. Not even close, actually.
Also, I don't think I've bought a game guide in over 20 years. The Bradygames MvC3 guide? Totally worth it.
So... I'm just tearing through Arcade mode on Very Hard over and over again to get all the titles. Fight Request on.
Some new things I've discovered.
1. Nobody online knows how to deal with Spencer. Seriously, the guy is mobility personified and he can throw from anywhere, to anywhere, and is just a nasty piece of work.
2. She-Hulk is just tons of fun, especially her anti-air grab super.
3. Dark Phoenix + lvl 3 X-Factor has generated more hatemail in three days than two years of MvC2 Tron, HDR Cammy, and SF4 Gen.
I missed that because I had to work today. I also didn't hear until reading about that tournament that Ground Kontrol finally reopened after the remodeling. How did the tournament go? Which teams were doing well?
Lotta people seem to be picking up Spencer solely for his ability to wreck both Mags and Sent.
edit: Left before the tourney was over, but teams with Amaterasu and Zero seemed to be having a lot of success. There were still a fair amount of Mags/Sent/Storm users and abusers, but people seemed to be picking squads with team members not staffed full of old MvC2 stalwarts.
Also - the GK remodel is AMAZING. It was already the best arcade in the country. Now it's better.
Does Spencer have an air dash or swing move I'm not seeing? Maybe I need to go back to Missions again. He seems pretty slow, especially if your grapple misses, and you stand there waiting to reel it back.
I still have no clue how to bounce someone on the ground. Whenever I do it, no matter what I do after it never hits. I clearly see them bounce off the ground, but attacks just go through them.
press S + any attack to zip around, including while in the air.
that's what makes him so mobile
Right now my favorite tactic is to do his air harpoon grab, then do it again (M will connect off the wall bounce very easily) then zip over above them since they'll be on the opposite side of the screen. Then just use qcf+H and start all over.
Drives people nuts because the only time I let their character come on screen is when I'm hitting them.
3 Rage Quits just today. I used to be amused by DCers, but when I'm going through arcade mode trying to get titles and shit it really kinda sucks. The game boots me to the online mode menu, completely negating my arcade progress. Not a huge deal, but annoying.
So... I'm just tearing through Arcade mode on Very Hard over and over again to get all the titles. Fight Request on.
Ok, was trying this with Fight Request off and OWWW the AI knows how to hurt people. When it gets even split-second combo opportunities, it doesn't waste them. A whole lot different than the MvC2 AI even on hardest.
I've been knocking out Very Hard with various characters as well and usually go about it like so:
- 30 second rounds
- highest damage
- always utilize x-factor at 10 seconds (unless I catch them in something that I can XFC -> hyper for big damage)
- spend all my meter chipping them out at the end if I have any left
Usually works. A time over always counts as a loss against Galactus but you always have 99 seconds for that stage regardless of settings.
1. I don't know how to play Thor. I've been practicing kara canceling into Mighty Hurricane in training but I can't do it consistently. But all that shit goes out the window online. It would honestly help if I stopped doing Mighty Tornado instead of Mighty Thunder. The worst part about that is I'm still trying to do Mighty Hurricane when that goes off.
2. I am straight up awful at weapon switching with Ammy. Just can't do it. It's something I really have to put time in if I want to get better.
3. I abuse Ammy's Cold Star assist and everyone knows it or will know it very quickly leading to me losing a character very quickly. Every single time I want to go into a combo with X-23, I use that assist since I'm not good at getting in range. I may as well be lighting a flare that I don't know what I'm doing.
On the plus side, I destroyed Sentinel every time I ran into it with Ammy. Killing an XF Wolverine in Berserker Barrage at shit for health* with an XFC Rage Trigger was a fucking fluke but motherfucker did I feel good afterward.
i really really like spencer but i am finding him very challenging to use
i'm not sure how to use his mobility or how to make his very obvious, high-recovery projectile attack actually hit

I am starting to love Ammy simply for her 12 hit whip combo. Best keep away ever, imo.
I need to start practicing with Spencer and see if I like him or not. I really want to wait until Capcom [strike]gives me[/strike] sells me the classic Spencer costume, as I hate his modern iteration.
I found it interesting in skimming pages that when it came to voting for Gambit or Psylocke, a lot of people who voted them included both on the same list.
I wouldn't mind Mrs Marvel or Dust (She does have a cameo in Deadpool's ending).
Mrs. Marvel is only X related in the fact that Rogue stole more of her power and memories. Fast mover, energy projection, and she can kick your testicles out of your nose.
Dust would be a neat choice visually. Able to turn into sand and move around the stage. I picture her as a heavy defense and projectile type character with various teleports and nullification type moves. Plus none of the new x-men got any representation other than X-23 and she's more X-Factor anyway. Dust or Surge would be good choices for the roster.
*edit*
and Pixie would just be hilarious if she got a pixie dust hyper that would make Wolverine trip balls and start screaming "*#&$ing UNICORNS!"
if Gambit got in and Psylocke didn't, I could live with that. I could see them making him a fun character to play and it'd be nice to see the Ragin' Cajun get more game time.

Works well against beam and single hit attacks.
Bullets attacks like Deadpool's and Chris's though you have to time to catch all the shots.

Notable only because she can get a combo off it, but I guess most characters with air specials can do that.
As soon as you hit the ground from an attack that causes the OTG state just 236M.
Once her move is fully charged it'll do it automatically.

I just.

Spencer is pretty rad.
There are many others like it, but this one is mine.

I fought this one guy twice.. Ryu/Akuma/Dogg. Ryu and Akuma went down fine.. but I lost to that damn Dogg. Fairly humbling.

Does anyone refer to Spiderman as Peter? Iron Man maybe?
Who do you think is gonna make the cut from both sides?
I found it interesting in skimming pages that when it came to voting for Gambit or Psylocke, a lot of people who voted them included both on the same list.
i am also expecting Venom or Gambit

I don't really care who makes it in for Capcom except for Jin, but last time I checked he wasn't doing to well
