Playing some random guy who was doing a keepaway/projectile team of Ryu/Deadpool/Morrigan.
He would spam meter build assist and just throw Shinkuu Hadokens at me all day. If I got him down to Morrigan, he would x-factor, doppleganger and shoot fireballs freaking everywhere. Really hard to deal with.
I was getting pretty frustrated after losing 7 out of 10 times (3 of those times, basically got OCVed by his lvl 3 x-factor Morrigan). So I switched to X-23/Tron/Sent team and win the next 7 matches. 15th match, tie breaker: we're both down to pixels and I do Hyper Sentinel Force to as he does Morrigan's missile super. Mine hit before hers. Winner! I jump for joy and taunt her prone body.

I think: "Oh boy, here comes the butthurt."
Message: Haha! That was a crazy finish! ggs.
I realize that they were in fact, good games and reply in kind, complimenting his Morrigan play.
It was definitely the first friendly XBLA message I've received in marvel. It was a nice feeling.

What do you say we take a relaxed attitude towards work and watch the baseball game? The nye Mets are my favorite squadron.
I'm thinking I should maybe give up on Spencer. I love his maneuverability but his vulnerability period for failed BionicScorpionGrabs is ridiculous and it's difficult to hit with them as well. Not to mention the lack of an awesome hyper combo.
Still, knocking someone into the air and then just spearing them repeatedly is rad as hell.

I wouldn't say his hyper combos are bad. His combo one might be a little trick to combo into sometimes but his bionic AAAAAAARM is awesome. It has invincibility, reach and speed on par with Iron Man's level 3. I mean, sure, it doesn't have the same damage but it only costs 1 bar.
My friend hates fighting my Spencer because any chip attempt or projectile with a long animation just gets bionic armed right through.
Yeah, but he's just a one-trick BIONIC ARRRRRRRRRRM
I love it though.
I also love playing Shulkie but I'm so bad at anything hyper combo related, can never activate the correct one for the correct situation. OH WELL MORE PRACTICETIME

This game makes me weep. I've been running Doom/Amaterasu/?????, and I never have any idea what is going on. When watching, say, Blazblue, I can watch what somebody's doing and feel like I have a grasp on it. When I watch shit in MVC, or lose, I just have no idea. Also I fought a Deadpool/Doom/Morrigan team. He started with Deadpool and highjumped and pineapple surprised with assists all match and I lost. I am so bad.

For those wondering, if the poll ended today, we'd be stuck with Venom, Gambit, Psylocke, Mega Man X, Strider, and Phoenix Wright.
Stuck with? I think you mean, AWESOME
Phoenix isn't even the Ace Attorney character I would want in the game. Capcom is right, he'd be totally boring. Give me Franziska von Karma or Trucy Wright.
Alright guys, I am hosting a thing in the IRC tomorrow afternoon. I am calling it Haturday School brought to you by the Hat School of Tough Love and Fisticuffs.
What is Haturday School? Simply put, me and a crack team of teachers will field questions and training sessions with people who have questions or need training! Need to know what bnb you should work on? We can do that. Want to not only get team building advice, but then immediately put that team to the test? We can do that too. Just want someone to play against you and tell you what to work on? Also acceptable.
Think of it as casual RanBats done with informal and impromptu sparring and more question asking. If you're interested, all you have to do is show up tomorrow afternoon (like...anytime). If you would be interested in teaching and assisting new players, please let me know (it would be much appreciated)! If you are especially terrible and completely bewildered by this game, you owe it to yourself to be in IRC tomorrow!

I am turrrrible at this game so don't take my advice that seriously and I'm sure someone with better advice will come along. Ammy has her vine air dash that you could use to get into Deadpool and also Okami Shuffle to somewhat punish the assist spam.
Tried my first ranked match...and won! The other guy sucked pretty hard, though. He played Dante/Deadpool/Storm and just spammed the same attacks over and over, and did hypers when I was just standing there blocking.
A really shitty thing I seem to have trained my brain to do is to tell my fingers it needs to hit a button for every onscreen punch. This is leading to me MASHING LIKE FUCKING CRAZY in the middle of magic series combos that often have more hits onscreen than there are button presses, so I'm dropping combos and getting ruined online when just as recently as 2 days ago I was, if not stomping people, at least coming out ahead.
I got so up my own ass flailing on the stick that I got shut out 3 to 0 by a guy doing NOTHING but spamming Unibeam and Hadoken.
I have friends coming over tomorrow. Hopefully this will help retrain this fucking insipid habit I've picked up.

Play Skrull or Chun for a while. You learn not to mash real fucking quick.
Yeah, before I moved to Weapon X, I made myself sit in training with Skrull for like, 3 hours, just making sure Tenderizer wouldn't come out unless I specifically wanted it to.
2 days without play, and my fingers go all Michael J. Fox on me.
Also - I'm not entirely sure this Capcom DLC polling is anything but busywork. I'd be surprised if anything more than the top 2 (1 capcom, 1 marvel) of these top poll results is actually made into DLC.

It might be effective on the Capcom side but I doubt anything comes of it with Marvel. They have different priorities. The most this will effect is DLC pricing.

I think the thing that will most heavily affect DLC pricing is seeing how many people are willing to spring 5$ per character for Jill and Shuma. And I'm betting if anywhere close to 50-60% of the people who own it spring for those two, then that's the new standard, and nothing we get comes cheaper.
If anything, I can see a situation where they say "yeah, we'll go ahead and create the character that wins such and such poll. But only if you're willing to pay 7.50 for it instead of the regular 5. Since we're doing it special for you guys and all."
but dormammu, as a dr. strange villain who has conquered an entire reality, though of course restricted in power for balance purposes, still seems imposing, threatening and powerful - his moves are disdainful and impressive and unique.
shuma looks like a baby beholder, and not even one who's angry or hungry but just a little curious.
Actually, I believe the SE is the regular price + the extra 10 bucks to have Jill & Shuma unlocked. Right? I mean, the packaging says "Get Jill & Shuma for free." But from what I can see, what you got for free was all the extra packaging, the comic, and the 1 mo. subscription to Marvel Digital. You're still basically paying for the DLC.
I guess it's a "from a certain point of view" kinda deal.
Well, the SE was $65 and change for me. I'm not paying $5 per character unless I love the character or those characters start wrecking my shit online and I need to practice defending them.
- Psylocke is my favorite Marvel character and has always been a great addition to the versus lineup.
- Doc Oc would fill a "spider villain" void, plus I am genuinely interested in seeing how they might make him into a fighter. We've already seen Venom. If I could choose both, I would, but Doc Oc wins the tossup.
- Justification for Nightcrawler is that I think this game could only *benefit* from more characters who can teleport, considering how much of a keep away frenzy it currently is. Plus if they had him fight with his swords instead of his fists, combined with his teleportation and natural agility you could have an amazing character on your hands.
- Between USA and Japanese fans, if Capcom had to go with one character at this point it would be MMX. No point in fighting the flow. Plus he'd be awesome, and it's almost a crime for Zero to be in but X not make a showing.
- Ryu from BoF is likely a pipe dream for several reasons but I am still going to dream it. Sword Fighting, possibly some magic, Dragon summon supers and possibly a Hybrid Dragon Mode hyper. Plus much needed publicity for a franchise that has been long since ignored by Capcom.
- Gene would fit right in and would instantly be the most awesome, masculine character on the roster. I remember talking about him in a stream last night and how he would have a unique super that would depend on the sex of the character - Nut Shot for the guys and Bend over and Spank for the ladies - the latter being an infinite.
The Shuma video just made me realize that if capcom added new unplanned characters they would have to bring back all the voice actors just for a couple of lines each. Doesn't seem like a cost efficient venture unless they plan ahead for a decent amount of extra characters and do all the recordings at the same time.
On the other hand, it may be that they've already recorded all the lines for every planned DLC character, have had them all locked in, and the polls won't have any impact on anything until MvC4.
I tell myself this because I forgot my Capcom-Unity login and didn't vote in any of their polls. Not that anyone I'd have voted for ended up in the top 20 of anything, but eh.
Anyone who isn't a 150-hit combo pro want to go a few rounds on XBL? I feel fairly comfortable to start challenging folks, although I've been getting murdered at the next-to-last fight before Galactus in Hard.
