On the other hand, it may be that they've already recorded all the lines for every planned DLC character, have had them all locked in, and the polls won't have any impact on anything until MvC4.
This makes too much sense, really.
I don't think the polls were meant to have any sort of impact outside of site views for the people holding em, really. They're fun, but I don't think expecting anything out of them will bring anything but disappointment.

Or, they could have said "let's record a generic 'assist me' line for each character just in case." I also think it would have been foolish for them not to record a "Mega man!" line for everyone. At least, that's what my heart tells me.
But, like SabreMau said, it's probably just polling data for Hyper MvC3 or MvC4. So they know who to definitely not leave out next time.

It actually derails the conversation when you have to explain what it is... and why some people say "KFC" instead of "XF" or "XFC". So, it needs to go away.

XFC it is, I guess. Even though they're not infracting people here, of course.

@Shiggy_PA: Thanks for the games man. Training mode can only take you so far; I needed to practice against a player who is near my skill and won't instantly destroy me. I hope that our sessions were useful for you too!
After hours of training and watching videos, I feel like I'm getting better. Game basics, like remembering to use assists when they're available and using Advancing Guard are still something I need to remind myself about, but not as much lately.
As far as Team Darkstalkers go, I feel like I'm getting better.
* Morrigan: I can reliably pull off some of Morrigan's launcher combos, ending them with a heavy Shadow Blade. In training I've been able to combo Shadow Blade into her Hyper, though online I typically get excited and screw up the timing or forget to use it entirely. I've made an effort to use Astral Vision more, though since I'm using a PS3 pad I don't have the execution ability to pull off chain Soul Fist / Flight cancels to make the super as effective as it could be.
* Felicia: I'm getting better with Felicia and taking advantage of her toolset - namely getting Kitty's Little Helper to set up some nasty unblockable situations, Cat's Crawl to evade and avoid damage, and her meter charge to build the gauge even faster while frustrating my opponent. Used in conjunction with Morrigan's Dark Harmonizer, it's pretty crazy. I was also able to pull off the Felicia throw loop showcased in the video awhile back in Training Mode, but haven't been able to do it online.
* Hsien-Ko: Still mostly used as an assist, though I feel I am getting better with her. I want to at least be able to hold my own so in the event I lose both Morrigan and Felicia, Hsien-Ko can put up a fight.
Jill's moveset looks kinda neat, but... not a big fan of the chest parasite. Wish they would've zipped up the suit.

I dunno if I'm just getting lucky or what, but I've been managing to shred my way through the last twenty or so ranked games I've played. I keep wondering where the horrific keepaway spam is, but maybe I'm just managing to keep on top of people so they can't do it? I dunno. Regardless, the Hulk/Chun-li/Taskmaster team is really working out for me. Heavy-hitting combos, speed, and plenty of counter-keepaway from Taskmaster. I just know the hurt has to start soon. There's no way I can keep up this kind of success for long.
My favorite win out of all of them was playing a guy who had a record of 98-2. The options here were either that the guy was really good, really lucky, or relied on playing really cheap. He was playing Wolverine/Doom/Magneto, so it wasn't clear just from his team composition. It became pretty obvious once he pulled out Magneto and kept spamming Disruptors across the screen. Too bad Taskmaster lives for people doing that sort of thing and rapidly had Magneto sorted out. I handily defeated the guy, but I'm thinking he just got way too used to beating up on newer players; aside from the Magneto and Doom spam (he didn't get to do much with Doom, though), I could see he was definitely trying to pull of some rushdown but I managed to almost completely block every attempt.
I also managed to get somebody to rage quit as well. I wouldn't be proud of it except I did it by being awesome instead of by trying to piss them off. The game starts, I start doing a lot of early damage, and then managed to finish off the guy's first character and do some 95% damage to his 3rd character with a super. He had JUST traded Hulk out to regenerate a lot of health, so then Hulk drops in with practically no health. I take a chance, hit him with a snapback, it connects, and then BAM, disconnect. Considering he was going to end up losing three characters in the span of about ten seconds, I can't say I blame the guy too much for mind-blowing rage.
And Jill looks like crap. MvC2 Jill was infinitely neater and with vastly more interesting moves. There's no way it could have been THAT hard to implement some low-polycount zombies for her, especially since the Tricell Laboratory stage something like 6 lickers just constantly wandering around in the background. Hell, Kattelox Island has something like a dozen Servbots and other characters just standing around cheering. New Jill looks like a female Wesker ripoff.
EDIT: Shuma Gorath, however, looks incredible. Pretty much the same moveset with a couple changes, but the model itself looks disgustingly good. I bet Capcom had to put a lot of extra effort into that one.
EDIT EDIT: I would love to see Cable return but only as a rushdown character. He can have guns, but only as long as he uses them like clubs to beat people over the head.

The chest parasite thing is kinda a must. It's the whole 'Im a bad guy but I'm really good' thing and it's the only thing they could do to even attempt to give the new Jill a personality of any sort.

It's just so irritating that she was changed for no reason. And into Nina. Who isn't a good character to look to for inspiration. Did they really not see it? I want to believe it's some sort of Japanese joke I don't get. Like, they have the same voice actress, or there's some spy movie from the 70's with a blonde assassin in a purple jumpsuit that's popular there and they're both modeled after her.
The only person I have tried that feels comfortable at all is Zero. I wanted to mess with Thor but that just didn't go well and I need to stop using Ryu just because he looks familiar because he's not.

Wesker and Sentinel. General rule of thumb, if you don't know who to pick, just pick Wesker or Sentinel because they can work with basically any team composition and they're both really, really good.
Edit: More specifically, Zero really benefits from having Wesker's otg assist, and Sentinel's drone assist allow Zero to setup devastatingly safe cross ups.

That being said, I'm not as outraged at her change as other people...pretty eh to me.

Quick question regarding unlocking/beating the game. When I beat the game, is the character who gets credit for completion the first character in my team, or the one who strikes the final blow against Galactus?
In the continuing adventures of this scrub (is that the right word?) ...
My wife and I played several more games last night, and we figured out Advanced Guard and X Factor (again, neither has more than thumbed through the manual). Of course, it is more that I figured out the former, since her stated philosophy is " Blocks or brakes ... who needs them?"
And, after unlocking Sentinel I was able to cheese may way through arcade mode finally :P Now to try again with real characters so I can actually learn something (hopefully).
I also tried Wolverine's missions where I found out something important ... I am not hitting attack buttons nearly fast enough. It's almost physically impossible for me to move my thumb fast enough to pull off the combos in the missions, particularly the longer ones. I can see why a stick is a must for serious players now.

When I beat it using Sentinel, he was not the first character on my team, but he did all the damage and got the final blow. So my guess is the final blow, although maybe it is highest percent of damage?
So I've been playing around for a while now and my most performing team to date is Wesker(otg assist)/Trish(low voltage)/Spencer(armour piercer). The weak link in the team however is Trish, or more specifically, my execution on Trish's combos.
She serves an important role in the team, being decently all-rounded and providing a projectile assist and super, but whenever I get a launcher to connect, I whiff her air combo. It seems whenever I jump to start the air combo, I end up much higher than my opponent and causes me to miss the Low Voltage L -> Maximum Voltage finisher, and sometimes even a standard S won't connect. Not to mention this means that any double jump combos are beyond my reach. Does anyone have any tips or tricks in this regard?
Fun times with Felicia and Hsien-Ko: If you call in Hsien-Ko's Sepun Bu and use Felicia's Rolling Buckler ground slide against your enemy to hit low, she'll cross them up while they are held in midair by Hsien-Ko's attack, making them vulnerable to Dancing Flash or Please Help Me.
He he he.
So one similarity I noticed that this game has with SF4 is low spam. Perhaps it's something that is weeded out as you progress into higher tiers of play, but at the level of play I'm at, folks just love to mash those low hits any opportunity they get. What sucks about it in this game as compared to SF4 is that many characters can turn a single low hit into a 30+ hit Team Aerial Combo, or use it as a starting point to combo into a brutal Super or Hyper.
I have taken to using Advancing Guard more often and it helps at least put distance between us, though it's still irritating to know that any moment you aren't blocking low is a moment you could lose a character. Though I suppose it's up to me to make my opponent realize that low spam isn't going to work in their favor against me, which I've managed to do sometimes, though this usually causes them to switch up to keep away / projectile spam.
Any advice on how to deal with good normal spamming characters? So far my tactic has mostly involved either using Advancing Guard to put distance between us and try to regain control of the match, or allowing them to corner me and then calling in Hsien-Ko to disrupt them while they spam, giving me a free opening to land a combo of my own. That last one really tends to piss people off. It's amazing how few people know about Hsien-Ko's hyper armor.

Beast mode is totally fucking bang install.
She might become part of the rushdown team I'm making.
Unless you mean something other than playstyle.
Ah, my favorite pose of his makes it's return. And it's nice to see Mystic Smash can travel across the screen like that.
