Cell Phone Driving Demerit Points in Ontario

The information Google is providing me doesn't seem to be consistent. How many demerit points could I be up for for looking at a cell phone while driving, being based in Ontatio? If it's on the ticket, I can't see it.

Also, what are the odds of me fighting the points, if there are any? they're what I'm mostly worried about. I was in court for an improper stop awhile back, and I managed to get the points knocked off, and just payed a fee instead.

None, according to this CBC article. You should have a $155 fine and thats it.

Edit: This Ministry of transportation website confirms that.

The official Ministry of Transportation site confirms that there are no demerit points. It also mentions that your fine could go up if you fight the ticket, so you might want to just suck it up and pay it.

Well....that's a relief. I was more concerned about the points making my insurance rise in the long run, rather than a short-term fine.
