I've never a single console Zelda game 11.46% 4993

Doesn't seem that shocking, really. Other than watching a friend play a bit of OoT back when it came out, I hadn't until my brother got a Wii and Twilight Princess. I've played Link's Awakening, both Oracle games, Minish Cap, and Spirit Tracks, though.
Link to the Past is my favorite. I can 100% it in 2 and a half hours, yes, I have no life, thank you.
I think it stands as a testament to the quality of the game that even though I know where absolutely everything is and could beat the game with 100% completion in my sleep, it never gets old or boring. The wonder and excitement of discovering new secrets might be gone, but it's still just darn fun.
I was lucky enough to be born exactly one year before Zelda (this past February 21st was my 26th birthday). I was planning to play through every Zelda I own (and I have a complete collection) or at least most of them, but I had an accident that left both of my hands plastered (I can barely type and I'm using a game controller as a mouse because it's really hard to use one in my state) so I'm having my brother play through them for me. He likes Zelda 1 now that he's finally playing it, but he's having a difficult time with it.
BTW, here's my Zelda collection, I even have the three Tingle games:
Wicked collection. But a question: is it me, or does Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland have a thicker case than the other DS games? And if so, why?

It only came out in Europe and Japan, so the case is European. The case came a bit cracked, too, but it was sealed.
Hey Rockin, did you make that DVD case for Link's Crossbow training? Mine just came in a sleeve like Wii Sports.
Also, Crossbow training is really underrated. Sure it's just a souped up light gun game, but everything about it feels right.
like The Pain said, I used The cover project, though I might have edited the image a little bit, can't remember. And that's not a DVD case, it's an actual Wii game case.
Ohh, in Zelda II. I thought you guys were talking about Ocarina of Time's Dark Link fight, and thought you were all out of your minds. Guess I gotta play through Adventure of Link sometime.
Anybody else absolutely love the sailing and/or triforce piece collecting in Wind Waker?
I don't like the actual Triumph Forks hunt, but I loved the sailing. Just sailing off into the sun, with the wind at your back, and that awesome overworld music playing--man, something clicked there. They got that RIGHT.

It made it worthwhile in the sense that, if you hadn't already amassed thousands of rupees by the time you have to decipher the maps, you had to spend hours grinding them just so you could continue the game.
I had enough rupees to do it all the first time through without any grinding at all. But every subsequent time I played the game, I found myself without enough, so I had to grind. In either case, it's kind of pointless.
I think what all of this is meant to show is that Tingle is a treacherous and greedy bastard who will take advantage of you when he is in a position to do so. He knows that these charts lead you to the pieces of the Triforce that you need and that he is the sole person who can decipher them for you. This is all a get rich quick scam by him so that he can buy more slaves and have enough rupees to go on the handheld homoerotic adventures that we would later see. Of course I also have my suspicions that he is a pedophile.
Also, Crossbow training is really underrated. Sure it's just a souped up light gun game, but everything about it feels right.
Link's Crossbow training was indeed a lot of fun. The way the combo system worked was great and for 20 bucks it was a very good value. I still get a lot of enjoyment out of games where the goal is to beat your high score too even though that is becoming a relic of the past.
The best appearance by Link outside of the main series though has to be Soul Calibur II. His appearances in Smash Bros are great of course but you expect him to be there. For Soul Calibur it was a really nice surprise and because of his addition I bought a game I otherwise wouldn't have bought that turned out to be a very enjoyable franchise. Link kicked a lot of ass too, especially with the Great Fairy Sword.

That is completely and totally irrelevant to every other thing that ever happens in the whole game, though. He wasn't established enough as a character for me to care about him being a treacherous bastard. As it is, Tingle is just a game mechanic to me. Like a shop owner, or whatever. An annoying-ass shop owner who sells you plot devices.
I wonder how many people who get Triforce tattoos bother to get them in the proper place.
That is, on the back of their hand...
Most (good) tattoo artists won't do work on hands or feet.
My employer wouldn't be amused if my Zelda tattoo was on the back of my hand. So I have it on my arm. Besides, I went for the Hylian crest, which isn't what appears on the back of Link's hand.
Other than the Oracle games, which don't work on the DS, Zelda 2 is the only Zelda game I haven't beaten. It was difficult to figure out where to go next, which wasn't helped by the translation, but unlike Zelda 1, there seems to be a pretty linear path as to where to go next. It didn't help that it was brutally difficult. Looking at the above video, it seems like you're still stuck with the toothpick at the end of the game
I do have to say that it does look like a game I'd really like if it was slightly less frustrating. I normally like 2d sidescrollers

You're probably better off just playing more modern sidescrollers.

I nearly got it done in special ink on the back of my hand, so it would only be visible in the dark.
But then I just elected for normal ink on my shoulder.
LttP is one of the greatest games ever made, regardless of generation or platform. Even sitting here at work, thinking about the main theme in my head, gives me goosebumps. I specifically went out and bought a SNES about a year ago, with LttP, just so I could play it the way it was meant to be played.
This is one of my favorite mash-up albums of all time and I heartily recommend it to everybody in this thread.
Also, I've been replaying Majora's mask for the first time since it's original release and holy crap, it is so much more enjoyable now that I'm not a stupid kid with no critical thinking skills :rotate:
This is pretty awesome, although most of you will have seen it before. If not though, enjoy one dude doing the wind waker intro himself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRv8gnBMiWM
Also, while Spirit Tracks wasn't exactly the greatest game (it would have been approximately a hojillion times better if you could have just upgraded the goddam train's speed), the overworld theme to Spirit Tracks is fucking awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5W_bFLwB0WY

This place is so much better.
That being said, I will vote for LttP when I get home.
Also, I have a friend who says he likes Zelda but has never played LttP or Link's Awakening. How is this possible? He is 24 btw.

What do you mean by "gutting them" so the GBA games can fit? Don't they already have GBA slots above the DS cart holders?

I don't even know the corner trick is.
Just listening to the music relaxes me. Have to love the feeling

the fight takes forever but shadow link does almost no damage so you keep swinging and eventually hit him
Here's one variation of it:

Ohhhhhh, my mistake. I was thinking Game Boy Advance, not classic Game Boy.
That's a nifty trick.

I beat the game before youtube existed so there was no corner trick to me. just a very long fight

Just to give people an idea of what the custom covers will look like size wise.
