Having trouble with the Wanted quest.

I talk to the messenger in the hairy bear, tried getting drunk with him which gives me the option to turn in the badges for gold, but every time I ask him about who he's working for he just tells me to shove off.

    Any ideas?

Bah, I should have guessed, my inventory is over half alcohol after all.

Also a neat touch, like how the people run for cover under buildings when it starts raining.

Fucking hell though I hope they change having to go through 2 separate dialog menus, a confirmation box and a cutscene when I want to go to a different zone in TW2.

So I desperately wanted to enjoy The Witcher. I played the enhanced edition up to the sewers below that first big town and I just could not get over how disconnected, clunky and obnoxious the combat felt. It was like babysitting a robot. I vastly prefer either a completely hands on style (something like FO3 without VATS or something more Zelda-esque) or a more tactical direction (something like Dragon Age 1) where your focus is directing attacks effectively.

The awkward click-to-move and WASD with mouse to turn movement I could deal with but the hover-over-enemy-while-timing-clicks combat was just pure unfun for me. This is really frustrating as I am really interested in all the other aspects of the game. Are there any mods that change the combat so I can either play it more like a real time action game or don't have to babysit the dude with constant mouseclicks?

theres full combat rebalance, and the combat, and the game in general plays much better in OTS mode.

How does Tawny Owl work? If I have more than one, does it increase the endurance amount more or just stack making the increase last longer?

They don't stack, no potion stacks, drinking more will just override the current one giving you more time but also increase your toxicity meter again.

So taking one gith after the other is just a waste?

Also, something amazing just happened. Went to see Vivaldi and was treated to one of the artistic cut scenes showing
how my decision to fight the Scoia'tel when defending Haren's junk from the Drowners near the lak affected everyone. Vivaldi is arrested because his nephew allegedly confessed to contacting him the night before his capture.

I'm just shocked at how diverse it is, a decision I thought was just passive and not really important turns out to be really critical hours later

Although I really shouldn't, I'm probably gonna end up buying TW2 day one.

yeah its really cool, if you dont
fight them and let them take the stuff, vivaldi is fine, however coleman is killed the instant you enter the hairy bear because he was selling fistech to elven kids, thus you lose out on some quests (like hot potato you get from harog) and evidence in another quest for another character

Coleman was an asshole though so I wouldn't have minded. But then
spoiler]he does help Meis out as an informant on the gangs. I love how its not black & white. Even Vivaldi, as a character is questionable.[/spoiler]

Siegfried seems the only sane, easily defined character.

I'm holding off on my purchase only until they reveal how overly censored the US version will be. If they do a Day 1 Enhanced Edition to get around the rating system, that would be fine.

    I just finished Witcher 1.

Definitely one of my favorite games of all time. Can't wait for 2.
The ending cutscene did not play out how I thought it would though, especially considering the subtitle of 2.

The next month is going to be very difficult indeed.

Also question, are all the main characters' voice actors returning for 2, or are there any significant replacements?

CD Projekt will be having a press conference on the 14th to detail censorship among other things
    Prisca wrote: »
The CD Projekt Spring Conference has been scheduled for April 14th - looking forward to good (..and hopefully no disappointing) news.
CD Projekt RED has just set the date of its spring conference, which will take place on the 14th of April 2011 in Warsaw, Poland. With the release date of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings right around the corner, the conference will provide lots of important information for everyone who is even remotely interested in buying the game.

The event will cover following topics:

Minimum and recommended system requirements, as well as their effect on the game’s performance,
Differences in specific language versions and censorship,
Copy protection will be talked about in greater detail,
Importing save-game data from the first part of The Witcher,
    REDengine details,
    And many more.

Senior Producer, Tomasz Gop will be the event’s keynote speaker on behalf of CD Projekt RED. He will host a presentation during which he will answer a lot of important questions about the game.

As usual the conference will gather journalists, investors and industry representatives from various regions of Poland.

The English part of the conference will be broadcasted live at facebook.com/thewitcher and at the game’s official website http://www.thewitcher.com/. The broadcast will start at 4:00 PM (GMT).

optimization happens at literally the last minute, so hopefully something not too powerful. a lot of the polish sites have been playing it on laptops, so i'm pretty sure it's not some desktop beast.

Well, regardless of what gets told to us in the 14th's press conference, I'm going to go with GoG. Them being sister companies with CD Projekt RED pretty much was the nail in the coffin.

Edit: Especially considering, like people have said, any issues with differing version/censorship can usually be modded/fixed/patched after the fact.

Only of what could be ported from the uncensored European versions. If you were playing with English voicing, you could only get script fixes through subtitles, since those lines were never recorded in English in the first place.

And the dialogue stuff was way more important than having some unobstructed nipple on the cards.
