    Why is it so hard to know how much it costs on GOG.

    I see the pages for it but I can't find the price.

    Oh wait, I didn't bother to set my actual birthdate and since the default birthdate made me out to be under 18, it just shows "you must be over 18 to buy this" for me.

    God this is a good looking game.

    anyone have any answers about steam DRM versus GoG DRM versus retail DRM? the dev's twitter says something about a one-time activation, don't know if that's on all versions or not.

    Ok, I think I got everything important.

    Here's my rundown of the whole conference:
    * We're a PC Developer first because we believe in the platform.
    * Thanks to the media for warm support for just a preview build
    * Made engine to take advantage of top-end PC's but also very scalable.
    * Non-GoG versions: SecuROM. One time installation on-line check. Never again checks.
    * Unlimited Installs on Unlimited PC's on all versions.
    * Play on up to 5 PC's at once on all versions.
    * If you Register: Auto update notices, Language packs, access to free DLC, more...
    * Importing Witcher 1 Save is optional. (I.E. you don't have to own/play Witcher 1 to enjoy/play 2)
    * Witcher 2 will automatically find 1 saves and ask which you want to use (if any)
    * First person to complete all 16 endings (and can prove it) will get a free T-Shirt. o.O
    * ONLY ONE VERSION PERIOD! NO CENSORSHIP PERIOD!
    * This is not a game for children. ESRB rating covers all possibilities. (Duh)
    * <Live Gameplay>
    ** Looks like you can level anywhere now. Maybe just something specific to their demo.
    ** Stuff about character ability trees that we've all seen by now
    ** Potion drinking has its own menu now that shows your actual toxicity level and lets you stack potions
    ** Epic Aard use that throws a man off the cliff killing him. Signs are clearly going to be much more important and strategic.
    ** Yrden talented can be dropped in multiple locations.
    ** What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse (more enemies, more difficult at night)
    ** Group Finishers skill - Kill up to 3 enemies at one time
    ** Ahhahaha the demoer gets murdered
    * Thats it for Witcher info

    * GoG sales pitch.
    * 300+ titles, 40+ partners.
    * Sales have skyrocketed, particularly since Dec '10. 163% increase in sales 09-10
    * Really cheesy introduction for Alone in the Dark games coming to GoG.
    * Buy Alone in the Dark, get 2 and 3 free. $5.99. Avaliable right now.
    * May 10th - Witcher 1 coming to GoG.
    ** Comes with all Enhanced Dir Cut stuff.
    ** Downloadable sex card calendar (previously only avaliable in Poland)
    ** Wallpapers, Avatars, Soundtrack (usual GoG addins), Artbook (.pdf)
    ** $9.99 price normally. $4.99 May10-May24
    * Predownload for Witcher 2 on GoG (serial code sent out at launch.
    * No Preload for other Digital Services
    * Free Classic RPG with purchase of Witcher 2.
    * New standalone Downloader coming "Spring"
    ** Multithreaded Downloading (not said, but apparently planning to expand to newer, larger games)
    ** Auto Error Checking
    ** Only activates when you are downloading something (not a whole service like Impulse/Steam)
    ** IM'ing
    * Various site updates

    * "One More Thing"
    * New Publishers GoG would like: Lucasarts. Microsoft. EA. SquareEnix. Take2.
    * One of the above has been signed (unnamed) and two more should be on the service by Fall.
    * No names. :(
    * "PC gamers like it cheap and unprotected". Also he had a T-Shirt saying that.
    * The End.

    There is DRM in all the non-GoG Versions.
    Also I have no idea.
    Those notes were taken directly from their slides on the stream.

    If there's no web check ever after installation I'm not sure how they'd know if you were playing on more than 5 pc's at once.

    I imagine what it means is that you can only have the game installed on 5 pc's at a time, however the game isn't tied to said pc's so if you remove one, you can move it to a different one thus unlimited installs. The installation Securom check probably just determines how many machines it is installed on.

    Makes sense to me.

    Either way, for 99.9% of non-pirates it won't matter at all anyway. A one time check on installation and never again after that, as far as I'm concerned, might as well be drm-free. For me anyway.

    A lot of DRM schemes have a limited number of installs. Period. You install this game five times and can never install it again. On anything. Even the same computer. Ever. Fuck you, consumer.

    I assume this has an unlimited number of total installs, but you have five slots for simultaneous installs. You install, you use up a slot. You uninstall, you get a slot back. There's other games that use similar systems.

    Graphics settings: Yeah, the final game will have more detailed graphics settings.

    Saves: There will be a manual save feature, don’t worry!

    Kind of sad that these are actual feature points that you have to advertise now (looking at your stupid face, Crysis 2).
