I second this! Sadly, I have to wait for work to be over to find out.

Well then, you're in luck! I've been playing it a while now. Sadly, it runs like ass. Glad I didn't get up at 8am.

    My specs
    AMD Phenom 955 @ 3.2ghz
    Sapphire 5570HD Lw Profile 1gb
    4GB RAM

Those are the main bits, I'm well aware that the issue is the card. Thhat said, it runs a lot of other stuff really smoothly so theres no reason why I shouldn't be getting 60 frames on the lowest setting.

Darn. :-/ Well, every other game I've thrown at my system looks pretty good. So hopefully I can tweak some settings or an ati patch will come through to clean things up. It's a Dell XPS i7 with 8 gigs of RAM. I guess I'll have to hope for the best. Thanks!

Actually hitting the s.o.b with a pointy thing is almost a side-point. So far it seems that the game has kept to that spirit. Various assignments and random encounters can be trivial or soul-crushing depending on how well you prepared yourself for them before hand.

Gearalt is like one part wolverine, one part jedi knight, one part batman, and some lumberjack for crunch.

Can you change difficulty in-game? Medium was too easy for me in TW1, but it sounds like 2 compensates by being much harder overall. What difficulty are you guys playing on?

    naw....

Dumping shadow quality does nothing. SSAO is like 5 frames... Number of shadow lights down to medium = about 5 frames.... Dropping to 720 from 1600x900 doesn't net much on its own... maybe 4-8 fps.

So @ 1600x900 With motion blur off, med shadow qual and everything else enabled no uber filter....
I get 28-32 frames with stutters. Meh.

Did you also try disabling desktop composition and desktop visual themes? That might net you a few more frames, or perhaps more.

And in preperation for Witcher 2, I've been testing my i7-920's 4.0 GHz overclock temperature. On idle it's in the mid- to high-40s, and during it reaches the mid- to high-60s. 100% load is about 79 degrees. Is this too high? I have read that these CPUs are designed to run hot. I might try bumping my CPU down to 3.66 to see if that lowers the temperature a significant amount.

anyone having enormous slowdown issues on nvidia cards - the solution is to go into your control panel and uninstall Nvidia 3D drivers

i went from 7 fps to 60 fps.

    ULTRA HERE I COME.

Another tip is to right click the game's executable, select Properties and then Compatibilty tab, and then check the "Disable visual themes" and "Disable desktop composition" boxes. Essentially, those turn off the nice visual effects your desktop or themes use while you're running the application. Some games may benefit more from that, but I've had some surprising instances where unplayable sections of a game (Crysis' snow levels) became smooth due to checking those two boxes.

If this turns out to work I love you guys so much.

This game is fucking beautiful maxed out, but even on a Quad Core @ 3ghz, 4 gigs ram and 2.4gigs on video, it slows down. Had to dial back a few small things, but fuck it's gorgeous. This is the kind of detail I've wanted to see in an RPG for a while, everything is so intricate and the world is believable (in a lived-in way). I remember when Bioware gloated about how their world looked like it had history, fuck that. Witcher aces it aesthetically in every way.

Oh my gosh also at the fact that it's basically Demon's Souls for PC with a few differences. I'm glad I went dark on all info on this game. It's surprisingly awesome so far.

things that carry over: Aerondight (the sword you get from the lady of the lake in TW1), Raven's Armor (if you had it made in TW1)

haven't seen a trace of my 20k orens i had at the end of the last game, though. the good news is, importing my save went really well, could tell because
