i'm never going to make progress on my backlog, am i? :(

/me looks up from a big pile of games, a little bit of Kane & Lynch 2 under his nose, chopping up a ten dollar hit of Darksiders sitting besides Dead Space, Amnesia, some Tomb Raider Anniversary and Lara Croft: Guardian of Light sitting on top of a teetering stack.

"Hey man, I can quit any time."
I've actually beaten Kane & Lynch 2, but they just seemed to belong in that image.

goddamn getting this game to run right is stupid, what the hell happened? back when i played before the ee and after the ee the game ran fantasticly well (apart from the 2 hour loading shit at release for normal edition)

and now since ive lost my saves and i want to carry shit over into witcher 2 i decided to reinstall with latest patches and oh boy.

first thing, installing the 1.5 patch seems to give me audio skipping in the fmvs, video plays ok and dialogue is ok, yet the music and sound just stops playing for awhile then picks up again and stops randomly, i get this problem in left 4 dead 2 and the dragon age 2 demo (yet not the official release of dragon age 2) i never had this problem at all with 1.4, i even reinstalled again and just left it at 1.4 and everything is ok.

but doing that now brings up another problem, after every ingame cutscene normal gameplay goes insanely blury, and none of the quickfixes and tips ive spent the day looking up work, apparently this is caused by having the audacity to want to play it on a widescreen monitor.

the only fix is the 1.5 patch. hah. :x

one post i found suggests i download the wanted weapons of fate demo and use that bink dll to fix the sound skip problem, it apparently works yet im not so sure.. i even tried using the dll from the 1.4 version but that just crashes the game on start.

oh well if i ever get this fixed i intend to play with Full Combat Rebalance mod, seems interesting, already beat the game on hard so this should give me a nice challenge and something new, they even have a new sign added in, anyone else tried it out? comes with a OST camera mode walk button!

    Here's something interesting:
OK, ladies and gentlemen. There was a video chat with Tomek Gop on Polygamia.pl. Readers could ask questions on forum and many of these questions were answered.

    - game is now in late beta stage
    - no demo before release, MAYBE after
    - modding tools will be available some time after game premiere (not specified)
    - DRM in retail version will be acceptable - probably online activation (only once) - however the Reds are still negotiating this matter with Atari & Namco
    - recommended hardware requirements will be stated this week or next
    - some of TW1 equipment (e.g. Raven's armour) will be available in TW2 after save importing,
    - there will be social & dialogue skills,
    - CD Projekt Red is collaborating with nVidia (partnership "It's meant to be played") - nVidia is testing TW2 in their labs on many additional hardware configurations and they promote game in US
    - collaboration with nVidia does not mean, that the Radeon owners will suffer,
    - TW2 is 3D ready
    - no horses
    - no level scalling
    - Geralt won't swim in a game, however he still can ;)
    - there will be many views (exploration view, combat view etc.), but every camera will be switched automatically
    - DLC - nothing certain, but definitely something big and after some time (few months maybe)
    - Empik (Polish stores with books, movies, games, newspapers and magazines) will have their own unique version of TW2 - something between premium and collectors edition (not specified yet, but I think they will have PE with artbook - similar to TW1 release),
    - Geralt can smile! :D

    Cheers ;)

EDIT: Empik Edition = premium edition

Feeling uncomfortable with the mention of "nVidia collaboration", DRM, and DLCs though. Interesting news nonetheless.

I'm sure that if they had their way, all versions would be DRM free (see their own self-published GoG version). But of course, nutsack publishers won't ever buy that as long as it gets pressed to disc. lolpiracy and all that.

man i really want that Empik Edition now, so many editions, tho the empik seems better then the one i have preorder, which is the crazy one with the bust. i have the witcher 1 original collectors edition too, the art book is fantastic, not only that its an actual fucking a4 sized book, not like some of these other so called art books that come with other games that are 2cm high.

also since i got witcher 1 working super again, i got questions that i cant remember from playing way back when, ive heard you can get knowledge of ingredients without the use of books, or at least cheaper then buying the books, how? random gifts to npcs or something?

also the FCR mod is interesting, alot changed, more realistic and the speed is pretty good, non-armour humans go down very quick and monsters take abit longer, also geralt can go down fast too if you are no careful and dont have potions/oils going on, or doing flips and shit.

forgot how awesome and atmospheric the game is, im abit into chapter 1 and after remembering how to play dice ive just racked up 500 orens from odo, hahah.
also love how they drop the little hints about what each of the "respected villagers" have done, like the missing brother of odo, the plants that only grow on graves of the murdered and the dog sniffing said grave, it all plays out beautifully.

Hah. You can lie and tell them it's an urn, specially made into a bust of your dead brother. Give them a story about how he died rescuing a child who fell off a dock. And even though he saved the child he ended up drowning in the process. Call him your inspiration. A few tears later and she'll be all over you.

Or you could just hide it when any vaginas come over.

Keep the bust out, say pretty much your original spiel if they're really curious (though just leave the part about dice out).

Say "It's a character from an awesome series of stories" if you're really worried, as that is a true statement.

goddamnit, i just spent ages trying to track down a problem where i couldnt pick plants and herbs in the game world, thinking it was the fcr mod or the scabbard mod removing shit, or just plain bugged out.

then i noticed the herb gather talent. :x

so much i've forgot since i last played.

fcr is bugging out the level up screen tho, they made some changes to what colour talents are needed for what and there is a real weird bug where a talent that needs a bronze, and you have a bronze but its in a silver needed tree and you dont have a silver, yet you have the tree unlocked, you cant use the bronze on it, its fucking weird.

Play some dice with one of the high rollers, when you win, exit the place and cone back and his coin will restock, you'll get 500 in seconds, pretty much did this with odo in chapter 1 and got like 2k before I pressed my luck and the ai caught on and wiped me clean out.

Just finished Act 2. Please tell me I never have to go back to that swamp again.

Any advice on how I should be leveling? Like, how many talents do you end up with by the endgame? Should I be focusing on getting a few skills as pumped up as possible, or is it safe to spread them out a bit?

You have to go back to the swamp.

As far as leveling goes, lower levels you're fine spreading things around. I find myself using fast/group way more often than strong styles so I focus on those more. As far as signs, Igni and Aard are the ones I find to be far and away the most useful. Igni lets you set shit on fire and carry on with your business and Aard lets you knock dudes down and finish them in a clean kill.

I'm sure the rest of the signs are useful but those are the ones that just stood out well above the others.

Anyway, taken straight from the wikia:
When reaching level 50 and drinking all mutagenic potions, Geralt can reach 111/111 Bronze talents, 80/102 Silver talents and 25/33 Gold talents.

It's really hard to screw up your Geralt, just pick a few things you don't give a shit about in silver/bronze and don't sweat it.

I highly doubt you'll carry any of your level/ability crap over to the Witcher 2 anyway so just have fun.

EDIT: And for your reference, here's the talent page:

I dunno...I guess if you picked up quests then went and did them, there'd be a lot of back and forth. I amass quests then do them all at once. It really wasn't as bad as some people make it out to be.
