Totally not game related but I just discovered if you double tap the shift key on the keyboard the iPhone goes into caps lock. ITS A LIFE SAVER WHEN YOU NEED TO GET A MESSAGE ACROSS.

Might be able to have some apps (some games anyway) work on AppleTV by using an iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch as the controller. Not sure if lag would be an issue... and accuracy might be difficult for some things if you're not looking at what you're touching... but it might work.
Also, on the Tiny Wings front, does anyone have any tips for the "be 34s in fever mode" challenge? I seem to have hit a wall on this one. I can manage to get a fever started quickly on the first island and keep it going and land it on the second island, but I seem to always screw up somewhere on the second island. Do the 34s need to be continuous seconds, or just total seconds?
I am 98% sure it's total.

I don't think lag would be much of an issue. I've played iPad games that use the iPhone as a controller, and those had no detectable lag at all from what I could tell.
I think the main issue is that, theoretically at least, not every AppleTV owner would own an iTouch Device for input. However, in reality, I would guess that like 90% or more of Apple TV owners own some generation of iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad, so that's probably not a big issue.
I wouldn't be surprised if an AppleTV app store is imminent for the next update.
Seems like an AppleTV app store is a no brainer. It would be nice to have an instant on source for casual games. If the average price of said games is .99 to $4.99 well that's just the icing on the cake.

On that one as well and I just played where I had a longest fever of almost 28 seconds so I should have hit 34 easily with that but didn't so it seems to have to be continuous. That one I can see doing. Getting to island 4 with out hitting a slide is gonna be a real pain in the ass.
Given that everyone who's tried an Apple TV-like platform has failed miserably (including the Apple TV v1), Apple's clearly approaching with trepidation. I'd be willing to bet they're working on an app store, but won't launch it until they're convinced it's kickass enough.
Oh, man, I just picked up EDGE and for my money, I think it's the best game on iPhone. And that's saying a lot, because I love Canabalt. But EDGE is incredible.
Are the other titles by Mobigame any good? Perfect Cell looks pretty interesting but, for whatever reason the demo keeps crashing on my iPhone.

I've been trying that, but I keep topping the hills. Basically it's a skill issue, which makes it even worse. Every attempt is like "1, 2, 3, *bonk* ARG, 4, *bonk* ARG ... end of island."
As Al points out, you can get a perfect on the first valley if you pause for a second until you're properly airborne at the beginning.
The timing on the short perfect hops is a touch tricky, but you'll get there with 5-10 tries. Just restart if you finish the first island and haven't tagged the achievement. My advice is similar to Six's and Septus. After you get airborne coming off a hill, tap to kill a lot of your speed - don't hold it down too long since you don't want to keep topping hills, as you no. Basically it's sort of a hiccup tap - swoop, come up off hill, a moment after you're in the air you tap once, let up, and once you're over the valley you want to land in, hold down again. I aimed for every other valley to get that one.
I just discovered this flutter-tap technique myself the other day, and it opens up the game considerably. I think of the game now mainly in terms of geometry: You want to briefly tap on your way up to cut your vertical trajectory (unless you're going for cloud touches) and try to level out, and from there it's just timing to get the right angle to come in for the next valley.

Edge hits a wall in difficulty, to the point where it pretty much stops being fun. If not for that I'd be tempted to agree with you.
I definitely haven't gotten that far yet. Mostly because I've been trying really hard to get at least an A-RANK on every level before I move on, so I'm only at level 17 so far.
About when does the difficulty get brick wall hard?

I haven't played it in a while but it gets pretty hard around the 40's iirc.
Checkpoints help though, it's not like SMB where you have to start at the beginning, but some of the wall hanging you have to do gets hairy.
Oh god, the wallhanging. A more compelling argument against the viability of touch controls I have not seen. Struggled through the first couple of them, ran into an extended one and put the game down for good. I know they were running out of mechanics for a cube that can move in 4 directions, but those undermined the entire nature of the game - a relaxing puzzler with gentle level design that can be played one-handed on public transport.

Finally got to Island 9 in Tiny Wings and cracked 200k.
Also, for those who were all :? over the ending to Infinity Blade, you should definitely play the new update. The new dungeon, once you get the Infinity Blade and work through the new baddies, opens up a whole new narrative ending that's pretty wild.
Just a couple more swords and I will have mastered every item in the game too. Obtaining these last few items has been pretty tedious. Not looking forward to the grind I'm going to have to go through to get enough gold for that last sword.

Yeah I gave up around 45. It made me sad because the game looks and sounds so good.
I found that the d-pad control method makes wallhanging vastly easier but it didn't make it fun.
I'm beginning to think that beating the third guy in the dungeon and finding out what's behind the mystery door is a thing that is never happening. I barely scratch him and he two shots me.

Hey, I got an IPhone recently. Game center is Voltaere. Does anyone besides me play Empires Online? Also if you could recommend some good free games (If anyone wants to) that would be cool.
Hmm. Fight Night is pretty cool, I guess. I dunno. I kind of wish I hadn't bought it.
If it goes on sale for $1.99 or something, then I'd say grab it.
Speaking of games I wish I hadn't purchased, I wish I skipped buying Kami Retro yesterday. I hate the controls and it looks just awful on retina display -- so blurry.

I am having trouble beating the second guy...
I am only level 45, so a few levels could help the situation, but not much, really. I mean, another 10 skill points would get me a few hundred HP, some more magic and damage? Not really any help.
The Garageband app is the shit for those wondering. I am going to make some songs tomorrow and its going to be awesome.
Agreed. Works great on my first gen iPad. I am a no talent ass clown when it comes to music but I'm still enjoying the hell out of it.
You guys know if you can plug a MIDI keyboard in? i know there are hardware MIDI interfaces out there for iPad but wasn't sure if GarageBand supports it...

I may just youtube it.
All I can say is heal, heal, heal. And pray.
Actually, their attacks aren't too bad once you learn the patterns, which aren't so different from some of the other baddies already faced. They're just faster, mainly, so you have to be able to mix up blocking with dodging a bit more (and parrying, if you're brave). But yeah, the best thing you can do is wear a good ring with a heal spell, and make sure your magic level is way up there, then heal yourself anytime your health falls below half. It also helps to watch for their "big" attacks, where they step back and then come at you. If you know the signs, you can break it up by using the heal spell there, or your stun attack if it's charged up.
I'll say this; it doesn't get easier after you beat those three. The next guy after them is
Level 300, and then you have to fight someone else immediately after that one with no break in between. The ending is pretty fascinating though.
I'm currently at level 58 with one more sword left to buy and master, and then I'll have mastered every item. The Touch of Death sword was both hilarious and infuriating to use/master. Not really sure if I want to start over with a new Game+.
I made a small breakthrough (as in I made it to the second stage of the fight, once) when I realised that the third guy is like the God King, in that he attacks too fast for you to recover from a dodge between attacks. However if you hold dodge after his first swing he'll not hit you with his second as the dodge timing out seems to give a window of invulnerability as you return to centre.
The second guy hit like a truck but being based on the 'ogre' trype attack pattern, he telegraphed his attacks well in advance and only took a few attempts.

Really, you don't like it? I love it, but I'm a big boxing fan, so that probably has a lot to do with it. I also liked the EA MMA game until it became way too easy even on hard, and I've heard a lot of people hated it. Those are two of my favorite games I've played on the iPad so far, though. My only issue with Fight Night is the stupid signature punches are too hard to get it to register. Like I'll do the little V type shape over and over and have my guy throw uppercuts or hooks instead until he just decides to do the special punch with no change to how I'm moving my thumb. That's frustrating but it's not a huge deal and aside from that it implements the touch controls well, imo. The tilt to move around the ring thing is pretty shitty, too, but it gets better if you tweak the sensitivity some.

Yes, midi keyboards should work through the camera connector. Also, audio interfaces that work on the mac without any drivers and don't require USB power should also work. The MacWorld Review talks a bit about it. Amazing app. I've also been having a ton of fun with it.

Dungeon Hunter 2 is now down to 99 cents for one day only (March 12, though I guess we've got a few extra hours on the sale early). The iPad version, Dungeon Hunter 2 HD, is also only 99 cents. I'm grabbing it now -- I haven't even finished the original yet, but it's really one of the best Gameloft games I've played. An immensely competent Diablo-ish hack and slash, great for scratching that grindy itch. I've heard nothing but good things about the sequel, so I'll check it out at some point. :P
Garage band looks pretty disappointing in that you don't have access to a step sequencer or a piano roll. All you can do is record and overdub it seems. Am I missing something? Is it possible to lay down a track without actually playing it?
Yep, that's the way it works (with the exception of Smart Drums, which isn't particularly useful). I'm sure they'll build it out in subsequent versions, but I hope the release schedule is more frequent than iLife's yearly updates.
It does seems pretty great if you just want to lay down some acoustic tracks quickly while you're working out a new song. I'm also excited by the thought of an iPad + Camera Connection Kit + cheap USB MIDI interface + Rock Band 3 keytar as a ridiculously portable keyboard setup.
Woot! Got the camera connection kit with USB connector and plugged my 88 key keyboard into the iPad for Garageband. Works awesome.
I can see myself outgrowing Garageband in about 10 minutes, though. Even my 7-year-old this evening asked me how to change the time signature from 4/4 to 3/4. For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to do it... He'll have fun with it, though, because Reason on the Mac is just way over his head.

I just got the lantern, so I upgraded some pools by a green heart (I think in Spa was it? for adults rather than seniors).
Anyone know what carries over between playthroughs? What are 'unlocked' permanently versus unlocked for that game?
