All you have to do is download the free sponsored apps, run them for 30 seconds, and you get points. You can delete the apps after you get the points.
I redeemed Sonic CD and Tiny Wings with the points. I would have had enough to download Infinity Blade II, but the Poker app wasn't working (seems it got removed). I'm not sure how often they add new sponsored apps, or how long those gifts are available.
I'm somewhat suspicious about how it accesses your iTunes account, but the people at CAG say it's all safe and legit, so I say enjoy it.
That link crashes my browser here at work instantly. Seems shady.

Has anyone tried Mega Man X on the iPhone? I'm trying to decide if it's worth picking up. Sonic CD is so good, touch screen and all, and I was hoping this could be, too.

The thread over on Touch Arcade makes it look like MMX isn't that good. It's heartbreaking really, because I'd say that the original is one of my favorites.

What are some games to get my Mom? I bought her Peggle hoping it will be simple enough for her (pick spot, click button, enjoy pings and points). I was looking for maybe one more game to get her. She has Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, and Words with Friends (and a few other non-noteworthy games).
Infinity Blade II won't even start on my 4th gen iTouch.
Try restarting your iPod before starting it. Could be a low memory issue and that's one way to clear it up.

I used the freemyapps thing to grab Real Racing 2 for myself and Transformers for my son.
I did a little research on it, looks like an interesting marketing scheme where they give away paid apps to get you to try free ones - the idea is driving traffic to free app developers.

Has to be opened on an iPhone/iPad on Safari.
My Ipad is saying no. Everything is stuck on loading.

Is there a version of freemyapps that works for the Canadian store? The gift codes they give are only for the US store.
Well you should get my game, Circle Survial, doubly so if you're in theusa since the free version is available there.
Aside from that, any games by kairosoft are worth the cash, and are at te top of my list.

I can confirm this works, Infinity Blade II is downloading now. It asked to install a profile, and when I tried to remove it afterward I couldn't find it, it was as if i had no profiles installed. Is it possible for a profile to uninstall itself?
When I try to install the profile for freemyapps, I get an error that "could not enroll in profile service. try again" Anyone else get this message or know how to fix it? Thanks!

For this, I made a fake us account using my hotmail email - worked ok. Give it a shot. Nabbed GTA 3 using it. I am trying to find out how to remove the certificate the freeapps installs tho, I am paranoid.

In other news, I will no longer trust what Apple has to say regarding games.
Yeah, the moment I saw this I realized it was Apple's marketing machine at work. Kind of disgusting that so many amazing games are completely overlooked by a graphical progress bar.
I had a bit of fun with Tiny Tower, but it requires far too much micro when your tower gets taller.
Just got a 4s and I'm looking for some good RPG type games.
I've never played any Final Fantasy games (mainly a PC gamer here). I'm looking for something that will last a while, that I can just go in and out of. I've played the shit out of puzzle quest and don't want that one. I'm not a fan if "you always end up losing eventually" type games like TD and dungeon raider.
Any suggestions? Even a diablo clone or turn based game would be great, I've been through the appstore and it seems like a crapshoot so I thought you guys might have some hidden gems.
If turn based 'tactics' RPGs interest you, Ravenmark is a new iOS game in the vein of Final Fantasy Tactics and it's a fun mix of fantasy and Roman history-esque formation tactics.
Mage Gauntlet is a fun action RPG that is reminiscent of Secret of Mana
I'll leave recommendations for regular RPGs to other folks, as I can't think of any iOS ones that I really loved.

Dungeon Hunter 1&2 are the definitive Diablo clones on iOS.
RPG's I'd suggest:
Infinity Blade 1 & 2
Sword and Sworcery (more of an adventure, but can't be missed)
Crimson Gem Saga
Space Miner
Can't go wrong with any of the Final Fantasies (1 or 3 I'd suggest)
Heroes vs. Monsters is free
Fara (like Secret of Mana with a self aware humour style)
Secret of Mana :P
Ash
Vay
Thanks for the suggestions. Infinity Blade looks fucking amazing, I just can't justify that much for a mobile game. Hmm. I picked up space miner. It's fun.

Infinity Blade by all means could be a full retail title. Don't think of it as being expensive for a mobile title, it's a steal at $6.99. It's makes up for it's cost in spades. I played through the first game over 35 times and still didn't master all the equipment. I've barely scratched the surface of the second and it's a great improvement over the first.
I use it as a system seller. If I have a friend who's considering getting an iPhone, I show them Infinity Blade. Pretty much sells them everytime. :P
I've heard Mage Gauntlet is an awesome action-RPG and probably in your price range. It's still in my back-catalog so I can't comment personally.
You mentioned you never played any Final Fantasy games but I'm not sure if that means you don't want any FF type games. They ported the remade DS version of FF3 (think late PS1 graphics) to iPhone that I think fared pretty well. FF1 and FF2 are also available in old-school 2D format but appear to have redone sprites and graphics which look pretty nice (in screenshots anyway).
You also have the SNES classic Chrono Trigger with the same SNES sprites but I think has the additional stuff included in the DS port. PS1 classic Final Fantasy Tactics is also out (port of PSP version) and was recently updated with retina display and to fix issues it was having with iOS 5 (you'll see a lot of comments and complaints regarding pre-patch issues).
Square Enix also released a couple iOS exclusives with Chaos Rings and Chaos Rings: Omega. Gameplay looks similar to Final Fantasy but reception have been mixed. Some people love it, others don't. The story sounds interesting to me at least.
I've heard that SNES classic Secret of Mana has serious control issues, so buy with caution.
Unfortunately, Square Enix games are pretty much all premium priced at $10-$15 so if you have trouble shelling out $7 for Infinity Blade, this might be hard to swallow. You have to consider though that most of these games are ports of full-blown console RPGs that should take a couple dozen hours to complete. Chrono Trigger on the DS, for example, is still like $25-$30 new but only $10 on iOS right now (on sale, not sure of regular price). Mobile gaming is really doing some amazing things now, so you have to drop the expectation that mobile games should be in the $1-$3 range.
I should note though that it looks like most (if not all) Square Enix games are still on their holiday sale, so if you want to bite on these now's the time!
OH man! When did Puzzle Quest get a Retina display update?
I have it on my 360, but I really wanted to play it on a portable. Now I'll actually be able to play this wonderful gem. It was completely unplayable with it's horribly compressed graphics beforehand.

It sounds shady on the surface, but if you think about it it's actually a good business strategy. Company pays FreeMyApps to "coerce" people to download their app, FreeMyApps uses a small amount of that money to buy apps for you as compensation.
Chances are some people will find the free apps useful and continue using them, so the app company still sees it as a good thing and it's a win-win for all.

that's the essence of a fairly large number of games, take WoW or The Sims for example.

Sonic CD
Anomaly: Warzone Earth
Monsters Ate My Condo
Lost Winds
Spelltower
Infinity Blade 2
So far I think I am enjoying Lost Winds and Anomaly the best though. It's shocking how much gaming I get done on my iOS devices.
