It really is a high quality show. Fun art style, exceptional animation, solid voice acting, great musical numbers, creative writing, fun and silly jokes, good attention to detail and continuity with plenty of callbacks, and references that adults can enjoy that kids will never get.

She is a background pony. A nameless voiceless filler that is one of many that people have given names and personalities to. It's one of the funny things about this show's fans is the way they take these extras and run with them.

yes, I'm referring to the anime thread. Recently (you weren't really a part of this) it took a turn for the really fucking creepy when certain people started outright praising things like loli anime, and started posting NSFW gifs and shit.
Will got sick of it, not because he kept dealing with reported posts from it, but because nobody was reporting anything. It actually took a couple days for the NSFW gif to be reported, because the majority of the people in the anime thread clearly had no real problems with the creepy people posting in it.
Will was like "Alright, fuck it, no more anime thread", and the creepy people made a splinter forum where they bitched about Will and tried to gather evidence of how he's a bad mod and has always hated anime.
It's been a giant head-ache for him, so, I understand why he saw something that looks superficially similar with MLP and was like "No, please, not here"
Well that's certainly a...one-sided and hyperbole-filled account of what happened, anyway. The large majority of the posters in the anime thread were NOT creepy, pedo-tastic people. But I've had this argument before only to be basically brushed off, so whatever. No use going into it again just to probably get infracted.
Well, this is something. The style's a bit exaggerated and, once again, I'm not sure about Twilight's nose.
Sometimes, you just want to make something cool. It doesn't need to make any sense, it doesn't need to be clever, it doesn't have to have hefty social commentary, you just want to make something that is wicked cool awesome.
If there is one series that has made pointless coolness their trademark, it is Panty and Stocking, and this is pretty much My Little Pony infused with their logic, or the lack thereof.
I don't think pony talk is outright banned in D&D. I remember it being discussed a little bit after the SE thread was made in there and no one complained or got moderated. It was more of a case of the pony talk starting to dominate the western animation thread, I think. It was the right call to give it it's own thread.

That "splinter forum" existed for more than a year before that shitfest went down, and it was created by Frosteey, who is decidedly not creepy.
I mean, criticize the thread and the posters if you want, but stick to actual facts. There's no need to exaggerate and invent things to make your case.

Yeah, that was a bummer. If we ever get another Gundam thread, we'll really have to crack down on anything that could get it locked again(ie: not even a hint of nudity or gore).
I think the Allspark will end up giving MLP (or "Non-TF Hasbro Toys") its own subforum. I can't picture them banning MLP talk . . . MLP is pretty much the sister-line of Transformers. Hell, the first specials were written by the guy who did the 5-part G1 TF pilot.
I finished up a MLP AMV today to Forever Yougn, the Alphaville one.
(No more Dr. Horrible for at least a few weeks, I want to have as much material available as possible before tackling On The Rise--it's my favorite Dr. Horrible song.)
