This one is selling pretty poorly compared to the first.
I'd be willing to bet that it might see a port...but probably one to the 3DS.
Dissidia or StarCraft?
The first one, a port would be amazing and is possibly likely. The second, no chance in hell.
God I wish they'd port Dissidia to 3DS. And Birth by Sleep. And all the other PSP Square games that I do not want to buy a PSP for (because seriously, the thing is still too expensive for the small number of games I'm actually interested in)
Snark aside, it honestly is impressive it beat the iPhone 4.
Anyway, looks like Sony solved the key hack with their latest patch:
Noted PS3 hacker Youness Alaoui (aka KaKaRoToKS) posits, "For now, it looks to me (at first glance) that the PS3 has been re-secured, but it doesn't mean it can't be broken again from scratch." DigitalFoundry explains that while Geohot's reveal of the "mtldr" key irrevocably broke the PS3's "chain of trust," Sony's solution effortlessly sidesteps this seemingly insurmountable breach: "According to Alaoui's quick analysis, Sony simply doesn't use mtldr any more, opting for a new security system that could possibly require a completely new exploit to be uncovered."
Seems like a reasonable strategy to bring over some PSP games as ports, hit them with a 3D tag, give 'em a glossier finish (ala HD collections on consoles), and sell them either as full retail games or downloadable titles. I mean, how many times has it happened in the past that a console gets its own "version" of a previous game except with enhancements, new contents, prettier looks, etc. I expect a lot of third part 3DS games will fall victim to this too when going from 3DS --> NGP.

Bad news for those that plan on using a flash card with their 3DS -- if Nintendo detects that you've been dabbing with one, the company might send a firmware update that could possibly brick your system. According to GoNintendo, Japanese retailer Enterking posted a warning message on their site, suggesting that your system might be unbootable after a software update if Nintendo detects you've been using an R4. Enterking is not buying used 3DSs that have a history of using an illegal cartridge -- a transparent indication that it's not taking any chances here. We can't know for sure if Nintendo will dish out said update or how Enterking might tell -- however, Nintendo did issue this statement to Eurogamer in response to their story on the topic:
"We do not discuss product security details (for obvious reasons), nor can we discuss the details of countermeasures available in the Nintendo 3DS system. Nintendo 3DS has the most up-to-date technology. The security has been designed to protect both the creative works in the software and to protect the Nintendo 3DS hardware system itself.
I so very hope that to be true. I've told this story before, but back when I worked at CompUSA from '06-'09 every coworker of mine that owned a DS owned a flash cart. EVERY. GODDAMN. ONE. And they all had 'em loaded up with at least 100 games a piece. And frankly it kinda pissed me off.

Legitimate homebrowers won't need an R4. They won't be affected by an anti-piracy check.

Yeah, stories like that make me happy. Or at least until the pirate detection fucks up and starts locking out legit customers.
But seriously, screw people who use R4.
While anecdotal stories are fun to dismiss, given how in Europe they had to have laws enacted to get stores to stop selling R4s pre-load with software you can probably understand why Nintendo would go with seemingly severe anti-piraicy methods.
Remember Gal Gun? Essentially it's a highly Japanese light gun game for the Xbox 360 that... well... oh hell, I'll let Kotaku explain it:
Alchemist's new romantic on-rails shooter, from Mega Man Zero and Mega Man 9 developer Inti Creates, is about as simple as on-rails shooters get. Press X to shoot your pheromone shot, which makes high school girls squeal with either delight or pain, become dazed and confused until they collapse and then dissipate into flowers. They'll come at you from all sides, offering words of devotion—kanji flies at the screen—and love letters that will drain your... spirit? Health? Let's just say it's a meter.
...
This lets you enter a paused attack mode, in which you can target specified body parts. Make sure the spot you want to hit isn't being guarded by the girl's hands and fire away. This is exactly what you think it is, a creepy opportunity to shoot at bare thighs, schoolgirl skirts that flit upward for requisite pantsu peeks and whatever body part does it for you.
Also there are tenticles involved. Of course. Well, apparently Microsoft had a problem with this.
Seventy-nine days before the game's release in Japan, Microsoft called a meeting with Gal☆Gun developer Alchemist. On the game's official site, the developer declared a "state of emergency" and suspended the game's countdown clock. Microsoft, it seems, is asking for some tweaks. In its official notice, Alchemist mentioned "underwear" in parenthesis.
...
The most recent Gal☆Gun footage shows blocked undies, indicating that the game was censored by Microsoft before release. While Xbox Japan is not specifically mentioned, an Alchemist tweet from November seems to hint that the company is perhaps now targeting families from now on. With Kinect, that might be the case. Then again, with Kinect floundering in Japan, Microsoft might want to do everything it can to please the Xbox 360 fans it does have. Beggers can't be choosers. However, they can be perverts.
Weirdly enough the game came out, panties intact. But then this happened:
The publisher is about to patch the game, denying its fan-base of under the skirt camera angles. The game's publisher call this update to the titillating game a "Fix For The Camera Control Bug." Riiiight.
Publisher Alchemist illustrated this with the above graphic: previous angle of schoolgirl viewing is on the left, the new one is illustrated on the right.
Thus we get this fantastic image explanation:
Man. Microsoft's never going to get the Japanese on their side at this rate.

As ridiculous as this game is, it really took Microsoft this long to object? Just rate it something crazy (does Japan have a rating system?) and let them have their hilariously inappropriate game already.
Microsoft sold 535,000 Xbox 360s in the United States in February, the biggest month in the console’s history outside of the peak holiday shopping season.
The Redmond company released the figure in advance of this afternoon’s monthly report from the NPD Group market research, saying that its growth of 27 percent outpaced both the Nintendo Wii and Sony’s PlayStation 3.
Total retail spending on Xbox 360 hardware, software and accessories was $475 million in the U.S., also the largest among the Big 3 consoles
Nintendo isn't going to brick anyone's system on purpose. They're issuing the same warnings as before that say if you modify your system, and then update, they are not responsible for anything that happens to your system.
It would be illegal for them to intentionally render the device that you purchased inoperable. It would be no different than if I smashed your 3DS with a hammer.
Pretty much. It's the same thing when Nintendo finally implemented universal WIFI settings on the DS. They cleared a section of the onboard flashram and used that for the settings (I believe Mario Kart DS was the first one to do it). Pirates had been using that area for their hacks. Cue crying and bitching that Nintendo was breaking their systems when Nintendo shouldn't have to and never was going to account for unlicensed software being installed.
So not necessarily nintendo targeting flash cards, but flash cards causing problems because they're not meant to be there.

2.) Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds (Capcom: 360, PS3)

Xbox 360: 535,000 (+27%) [Top Console, 360's Best Non-Holiday Month Ever]
Sales of video game hardware in February propelled industry sales to a surprising improvement over last year, according to The NPD Group's monthly sales data.
Most analysts expected a decline in sales of games and console systems. Software sales did fall 5% below sales in February 2010 -- still a slightly better performance than expected. But all the three console systems saw increased sales.
"Within the video games industry, the console segment of the market was up 12% in dollar sales across hardware, software, accessories, and game cards while the portable segment of the market declined versus February 2010 by 27%," says NPD's Anita Frazier. "We are looking for the portable segment of the market to rebound beginning later this month when the highly anticipated 3DS launches in the U.S. on March 27th. Seven days of sales will be included when we release our March sales results on April 14th."
And Call of Duty: Black Ops became the best-selling game in history, topping Wii Play, Frazier says.
"The best-selling hardware system of the month was the Xbox 360 which had its biggest non-holiday (November/December) sales month ever, surpassing September 2007 when Halo 3 launched.," Frazier says. "The 250 GB system bundled with the Kinect sensor was one of the drivers of the increase in average selling price among console hardware."
All three console systems realized a unit sales increase over last February and a unit sales increase over January 2011, NPD says.
Breaking down the console growth, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 up about 25% in sales (dollar value) and the Wii up 15%, compared to last year, says Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter.
Total industry sales rose 3% to $1.36 billion, compared to $1.33 billion in February 2010. Sales of video game hardware rose 10% ($467 million vs. $426 million), while software dropped ($601 million vs. $634 million). Video game accessories continued to rise, thanks to Microsoft's Kinect and Sony's PlayStation Move products ($257 million vs. $210 million).
"The big surprise to me is that hardware ticked up," Pachter says. "Maybe the recession really is over. People don't buy software because there is money burning a hole in their pocket. But they actually would buy hardware. Most recent jobs data show a slight uptick in jobs. Maybe consumer confidence is coming back. ... It has to be either that there's a change in NPD methodology or it is a reasonable signal that consumer confidence is back."
FYI Achy Breaky Heart Hero Edition shall be Koticks trump card, make my words!

Nintendo press release:
NINTENDO NEWS: WII TOPS 35 MILLION IN SALES AS MULTIPLE GAMES HIT MAJOR MILESTONES
March 10, 2011
Nintendo's Wii™ console has crossed the 35 million sales mark in the United States, according to the NPD Group. More than 454,000 Wii consoles sold in February to put Wii across the 35 million mark faster than any other console in U.S. history.
February proved to be a notable month for Nintendo software as well. Not only was Just Dance 2 from Ubisoft the No. 1 best-selling game of the month with more than 554,000 sold, but four Nintendo games reached new sales milestones. Donkey Kong Country™ Returns for the Wii console, which launched in November 2010, crossed the 2 million mark in February, while New Super Mario Bros.™ Wii, which launched in November 2009, just crossed the 8 million sales mark.
On the portable side, the Pokémon™ SoulSilver Version game for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems launched in March 2010 and crossed the 2 million sales mark in February, while the New Super Mario Bros. game, which launched in May 2006, just passed 9 million in sales. These milestones further demonstrate the "evergreen" nature of games that play on Nintendo systems.

Eh, I really doubt they'll bother with Dissidia, given that there's no plans to continue the series (Nomura said any future FF fighting game would be named something different) and Japan was the main market for them anyway. That's probably why they've actually been released on the PSN, because Square Enix have no real future plans to further monetize them. Crisis Core and Birth By Sleep though? I think they've been held off the PSN specifically so Square Enix can re-release them on the NGP. The 3DS wouldn't be a huge leap though, but I think we can rule out consoles.
PD’s February numbers illustrate continued growth of the entire PlayStation 3 ecosystem, including increases in hardware, software and peripheral sales. PlayStation’s exclusive titles, combined with stereoscopic 3D and precision motion controlled gaming, continue to resonate with consumers, and we look forward to furthering the momentum with MotorStorm Apocalypse and SOCOM 4 next month.
