and then Dhal and I ZvZ and I misclick and don't build my infestor pit when I thought I did.
That's the worst feeling. "He's prolly gonna have mutas coming in a couple min. Gotta get these 'festors out. Where's the pit, should be finishing right now.."
"Where is it..."
"Oh fuck... Did I?"
"I forgot it? fffffffffffff"

"Oh look 18 +1 weapon mutas just killed all your drones"
Has anyone else noticed that some of these huge macro maps designed to even out pro-level TvZ have actually benefited the Terran?
I keep watching GSL TvZs and seeing Terran come off as more mobile with better harassment while still obtaining incredibly fortified defenses, particularly on Terminus.
Zerg harassment units (mutas/lings) are incredibly weak to Terran base defenses (planetary, turrets, tanks) while Terran harassment units (marine/medvac or hellion/medvac) are having little trouble containing the Zerg to 3 bases while the Terran parks a formidable army of marines/tanks outside the Zerg's main.
I watch games like MoonGlade's and wonder what he's supposed to do... Granted, MoonGlade didn't play exceptionally well, but I just don't know how a Zerg can expand outside of the 2 nats against a proactive Terran.
TONIGHT I LADDER AND FIND OUT HOW MUCH I RAGE AT BRONZE-LEVEL CHEESE
Kami,
we should play.
-King of the Bronze.
Can one challenge you for the title?
Sure. We'd have to make a production out of it, though.
I think that I may have a pro-caster willing to do the honors, as well.
Maybe we can set up a "King of the Bronze" tournament... dunno how many would be cast, and what the hook would be... How many Bronzers would be willing to participate?
So I've come to realize that I'm bad at big map-splitting macro games. Like, 4+ bases.
Brain kind of just shuts down and I stop doing anything well.
I know this sounds stupid, but practice against a computer and mass up your bases.
It's most likely just a macromanagement issue and simply going through the rounds on 4+ bases (inject, rally, creep spread, etc) will make it all feel more intuitive. You can't work on your responses to what your opponent does, but you can work on all the mechanics on your end.

Moonglade sucked but Terminus RE is definitely a great map for terrans, it forces 3base vs 3base which no terran should be losing in any non-mirror, really.

That's not a bad idea.
Though the true test will be if I can handle all that even half as well with marines dropping my far-flung expos.

I made a game! Hotline Maui. Requires mouse and keyboard.
I'm going to change my style from deathball/large army to frenzy mode and just send wave after wave to various weak parts (nydus, drops, etc.). A good stock of infestors in main will delay any deathball army long enough for reinforcements to re-appear.
Nydus truly have an amazing potential, both offensively and defensively. It can be considered our version of warp gates, but with a big alarm that sends chills accross the battlefield.
But... the level of sophistication required to truly use Nydus is beyond that of mortal man's capabilities.
The most common usage of Nydus that I've ever done that actually did anything was as a killing blow in a game I already had won. Just nydus some Ultas into their base and make them panic and then sweep in with the 300 food invasion to finish the game.
The bloody warning has ruined usage of it considerably.
Yeah that's deterred a lot of people from using it.
It's a great way to take an early island expo.
I also need to incorporate adding a couple exits to some key strategic spots, like opponent's expansion mineral lines, but hidden away where they won't be seen, etc..
Or putting down 3 or maybe 4 exits at a time at different corners of an enemy's base (when they're on 2 or 3 base). Odds are you'll have at least 2 complete and can harass like a mofo.
I do get really put off by the 100 gas cost, when they are so easily killed. I guess they are a bit similar to medivac drops in that if you lose the medivac then it sucks, but you don't always lose it.
On the other hand I suppose it's eaiser to get all your guys out via the nydus since they just climb in and are safe. But then again, the nydus can't follow them around and scoop them up.
It probably isn't fair to compare nydus to drops, either, since our version of medivacs are overlords. But OL and nydus feel really awkward for drop/harass play for Zerg.

wouldnt you have to lose ALL your Nydus'? So, from that perspective its a bit safer.
I think that I've got the general feel of the Infestor down... maybe time to stat playing with some worm play.
I nydus. Here are two of my recent double nydus transitions replays against protoss (one that works and one that doesn't work). My overall goal is to max and then, instead of transitioning to broods, abuse nydus mobility before protoss hits their stride. There's a bit I would like to refine, but I haven't had time to put in some serious practice lately.

Yeah I don't think I said anything about losing your guys when you lose just the nydus worm :P
Infestor play is probably best learnt in some ZvTs. Practice using them to delay terran pushes while not losing them. Once you have a knack for that, start being a bit more adventrous with them.

I've never laughed so hard at a 40 minute game :^:
you're furiously microing those four badly hurt zealots vs 8 or 9 lings
and half a screen above you at our natural choke i've built 5 immortals and 6 void rays for you plus about 12 stalkers
That's the worst feeling. "He's prolly gonna have mutas coming in a couple min. Gotta get these 'festors out. Where's the pit, should be finishing right now.."

you distracted them with all of your drones while 6 infestors fungalled them then died anyway
You lost 20 mutas, that's 2000 minerals and 2000 gas.
Pretty sure I did better than you did.

But then factor the mining time lost because of 60 lost drones! Had you been Terran you would have definitely won though, instant MULEs and what not.

its weird. i can 1 base all-in, i can handle the large macro 4+ bases, but struggle mightily in between.
And I'm still not making the right drone/army decisions. too much larva, not enough money.
