It takes 1 second longer to build an Ultra Den + x Ultralisks than it does to upgrade to a Greater Spire then upgrade x Corruptors (assuming the Corruptors were already made). It's a long time, yeah, but Ret had Brood Lords out in both of those games (though they were a bit late in the second one).
also the big problem from the start was the ai, tanks shot whatever in bw, 50 tanks 1 zergling all 50 shot it but they dont do it in sc2, when asked why trollface browder said they cant program it to do it? obviously technology has receded since the previous millenium when sc was made?
Brood lords are the preferred transition in TvZ when you go ling/bling/muta because they have a chance of doing significant damage without vikings out. Ultras on the other hand are dealt with just fine by the standard terran composition (marine/tank) unless their is a gross disparity in food (either many ultras out or a small terran army).
And I've said this before, but I'll say it again. Tanks are the colossus of TvZ. Once you hit a critical mass of tanks, your army becomes ridiculously cost effective against zerg. So your game (with standard play) should revolve around playing defensively while you build up tank numbers, fending off harass, and then carefully pushing across the map.
Anyways, poor Ret. I expect he'll be heading out of Korea shortly to participate in non-GSL tournaments after this loss.

I want to know what you people are doing differently than me that allows you to stay up all night and watch GSL. Are you in Korea? Independently wealthy? Clones that go to jobs and school for you? Or maybe I'm just old as fuck.
As an even noobier noob, I feel out of place answering this, but I believe I'm correct. The initial damage from the broodlord hitting is from the spire upgrade, and then subsequent attacks from the broodling are from the evo chamber.
Do people do Ultra/Ling/Baneling? An Ultralisk can absorb 9 Tank shots even at full upgrades, and costs the same amount of gas as only 8 Banelings. I'd theorycraft that if you have an Ultralisk or two at the front of your swarm, you're going to have more Lings + Banelings alive by the time you reach the Tanks than if you'd just spent that money on more Ling/Baneling.
I love ultras verse tank/marine. Just make sure to spread them out.
The guy had literally nothing but drones 11 minutes into the game when Huk's 6 gate came knocking.

Ret was also basically stomped. Both games he had a slight lead until terran moved out with 10+ tanks and killed him.
jookTo lost game 1 unremarkably, won game 2 with a huge muta ball, and in game 3 literally failed to kill anything at all when he scouted an impending 4-gate and responded by overdroning.

There's a lot of games I've seen in the GSL where the zerg making a few infestors probably would've done really well (if he was also able to micro them right).
I will be at PAXEast too for my bachelor party no less. Which makes the SOTG thing the worst timing possible since explaining to 20 dudes "Guys, we gotta wait on the strippers until after this guy with hairy arms stops talking" is going to be difficult but I'll be there.
I may play in the SCII Tournament just for the lulz despite having no shot of course.

Join the tourney anyways! I breezed through the Carolina Game Summit last year (didn't even have to play the final) due to the noobness level being worse than my own.
This year, my friend got 3rd place even though there were about 5 other high master and some team vVv guys playing too. The brackets define a lot of what goes on.
Also, the chance to type "g.g." while Day9 is casting is too big to pass up.

Speaking of Casting. Will anyone be casting CSL Lite? Man I had so much fun in the last one I participated in watching the stream and the conclusion after I was punked out by the eventual champion Moss.

And I've said this before, but I'll say it again. Tanks are the colossus of TvZ. Once you hit a critical mass of tanks, your army becomes ridiculously cost effective against zerg. Both.
Brodlings do more melee damage and the flat damage from the broodlord attack increases from air upgrade.

I think spire upgrade increases damage of the first hit and melee increases the damage of every broodling melee hit.
